Seems dodgy to me. A small handful of people owning that many coins before it's even out? "Coin for the people"? Hmmm looks like a get rick quick scheme and Bill Stil has fallen for it through his naivete with crypto currency
Maybe Im wrong tho
Nxt seems dodgy as well but perhaps worse in some respect considering, iirc, 70 people hold all of the billion coins or however many there are and the only way to get them is to buy them off this 'elite'
I think the thing you are missing with Nxt is that EVERYONE had to pay to get in on the coin. There was no "pre-mining" and the forum originated here on this board. The creator put in 1 BTC of his own money to get part of the genesis block. Every early investor was capped at 1 BTC to invest. All new investors can invest as much as they want. If you invested in the first week, you would have got 1M Nxt for 1 BTC after it was officially released, which has gone down to 100k for 1 BTC currently. The early investors invested in a coin that wasn't even released and was just "supposed" to be released. That was a huge risk for them in doing so. It's like buying any new cryptocurrency early, you take a huge risk. Also you are forgetting that the only way to mine coins is to to hold a share of the coins. Instead of the dependency on ASICs, GPUs, CPUs, etc. You can run the client on any computer that handles Java and it mines as well as mining on a high end computer using the same client, since all that matters is the amount of Nxt you hold. This is not a coin where you "mine" to get new coins in blocks. You "mine"(forge/get interest) coins that were part of transaction fees that were part of other transactions between other trades. Same thing happens with any cryptocurrency (the transaction fee) once the creation of new coins ends.

just another scam coin, no worries I don't get why people think this is a scam coin. I would really like to know. -The forums and exchange was created by an investor in the coin not even the creator of the coin to get the coin more known by the public. -EVERYONE had to pay to get coins from creator on down, hence there was no pre-mining. People in the beginning got it the cheapest, but nothing different than any other altcoin or bitcoin in the beginning. The reallllly early investors took the risk of it getting even released. The thing was even capped at 1 BTC per person. -Nxt mining(forging) are exchanged by transaction fees, just like how Bitcoin or any other coin will be once they stop creating new coins. If anyone is really worried. I will buy 100k Nxt for .000001 BTC = .1 BTC... and take the Nxt off their hands though Im just a newbie in the altcoinworld and I'm just curious how cryptocurrencies will evolve in the next years. Im not hating on NXT but I just dont want to lose money on this, since I already lost a deposit on an exchange website 3 weeks ago. Will there also be other exchanges NXT will be traded on? If an investor=owner of the currency also owns a domain called ponzigame and has been hosting several gambling websites, it's just waiting at what price the investors will dump the coin. The thing is that the source code isn't even fully released till January. Also BCNext likely owns just as much as anyone else. So I doubt he wants Nxt to fail. If you lost coins on cryptsy...should ask them in support. I did to get my lost coins back. Probably is best to ask them nicely though. They were pretty polite to me.

Im looking for a good cryptocurrency to invest money in. I was enthousiastic about NXT since it's the newest coin on the market. However, when I did some research on it I discovered the following things: The currency website www.nextcoin.org and NXT echange platform DGEX.com are both hosted by the same company that appears have produced the currency. That's Graviton Capital Inc. By checking the WHOIS info on these websites the admin of both is goldtails@gmail.comBy googling that emailadress I discovered other websites that are adminned by this guy: http://www.ipaddressden.com/email/goldtails@gmail.com.htmlhttp://www.webboar.com/whois-email/goldtails@gmail.comThese are domainnames of gambling websites that look like scams. The one that caught my eye the most is: www.ponzigame.comPONZI GAME... Above all that: in the terms of DGEX.com NXT exchange website it says that all BTC tranfered in to your DGEX account will become property of DGEX.com So if DGEX.com decides to take all the BTC and close the website there is nothing you can do about it. Well aren't these all serious red flags not to get involved with this currency? Is this an unfolding scam or the beginning of a better cryptocurrency? Peace out, Altcoinfuture my question is why the heck is it on coinmarketcap if it's not even properly released yet and no exchange is selling it I think some poster on the forum asked the owner of the website to do it....just to get it more in public view. I was worried it would cause negativity especially because the client is still in alpha/beta lol. Dgex.com is an exchange that is selling it. Or you can ask someone who owns Nxt to donate or something.

For people that don't knowm, since there seems to be a lot of people confused...
This is a descendant of bitcoin. NOT another alt-coin.
1.) The forum and exchange ARE NOT created by the creator of Nxt Coin. BCNext was/is the creator of the coin and is so paranoid with everything that he has Come-From-Beyond post for him whatever he wants, such as the updated client and such which has been constant because its still having some bugs ironed out. The creator of the forum and exchange is just another enthusiastic investor in the coin.
2.) The coin IS NOT "pre-mined". EVERYONE had to pay a fee to get in on the coin, even the creator of the coin. The coins were given from the genesis block in the beginning and is spread out to the rest of the investors as time goes on. The coin STARTS with 1 billion in circulation and transaction fee's from the coin is what is "mined"(forged) and given out.
The way its done is like this. You ask/buy Nxt from the exchange or any holder of Nxt. You load up the client and the program that is needed to start the mining(forging process). With at least 1 Nxt, and after a day of leaving the client open, you can start to mine(forge) coins with the client, although it would take a long time do get anything with just 1 Nxt. There is no need for any ASIC's or requirements of CPU, GPU, etc. all you need is some Nxt to start the mining(forging) process. You can run the thing on a 3 year old netbook(which is what I do) and it mines(forges) the same rate as a high-end desktop, miner, whatever. As long as your computer can handle java, its all good.
Still not explained what is going on in this 'forging' process. Does it calculate something? How does the network determine which node gets the coin? The more Nxt you hold, the higher percentage you get of getting a block. Sorry not much of a techy.. Maybe these quotes help from the original thread? "1'000'000'000 NXT in existence. This is cap. No inflation at all. Generation is from transaction fees only."A question was posed. "Ok. so i still haven't really understood this. The mining reward is based on the total coins you hold? Or just the likeliness that you will mine something? Is it just based on how much you hold? So say if i hold 100,000 coins. My chances of mining a block at 100,000 / 1 000 000 000 = 0.1% per block?" which Come-from-Beyond replied..."In the long run u will mine 1 block of 10000 (0.01%)."link to original thread. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=303898.msg3701780;topicseen#msg3701780

Also it doesn't matter if you have 10 computers running the client or just 1, there is no increase between the two. As long as your computer can handle java, its all good.

So version 1 was very bad, just installing vers2 right now, but I already had a nxt account, which had a balance with 99 nxt, but I installed vers, logged into localhost with my phrase (same nxt number) but without any balance. And how is there a way to earn nxt?
your balance is backed to your phrase. So just let the blocks load up to the latest one and your balance should show.

Why do you need the coins before December 2nd?
What is so urgent that you need .1btc?
want to buy me some Nxt. and other alt coins... Also I am sad because I donated .05 BTC when I thought it was an investment... What kind of coins to you want to buy? I'd be interested in buying you the coins now and then holding them until you can give me the .1btc on the 2nd. My interest fees would just be an agreed upon percentage of the alt coins that I purchased for you. Or, the better option, would probably be just to wait until the 2nd ehh...okay...i'll probably just wait hopefully alt coin prices don't skyrocket by then... lol
