1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Bitcore- BTX - SEGWIT - lowest fee - hybrid fork 1:0.5 of Bitcoin on: February 26, 2018, 05:16:54 PM
Its become obvious for anyone who wants to buy BTX that monday post airdrop is the day once the dumps run their course. Doesn't last long but its consistent. I've almost wondered about playing the speculation game with some of my stake except its hard to imagine beating the return of the airdrop itself.

To update the wallet on OSX, is it just an install or do you need to do anything with the old files?

At what point is it worth gathering the strength of our community and focusing on growing to more exchanges? Wait until airdrop ends?

e.g. the following have open votes:
https://feedback.coinfalcon.com/coin-request/
http://eucoin.io/
https://bitindia.co/vote.html

Voted for bitindia. good call! going to post it to the facebook group to see if we can get momentum.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tether - 2.3 billion in reserve on: February 01, 2018, 12:05:23 AM
I have been using considering using tether as a place to park my money between corrections. This definitely is a serious concern. Has anyone found any alternate solution. Bitcoin has been doing some big swings and isn't the answer I'm looking for.
7  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: mining is profitable ? on: January 31, 2018, 11:50:00 PM
I have been mining bitcore (btx) with a single graphics card (1080) and make a profit of about $3/day after power consumption.

Anyone using omega pool? Thoughts?
9  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Guidance: Implementing a private and custom blockchain solution for supply chain on: January 27, 2018, 05:31:17 AM
That is the fundamental question I have been trying to unravel Colorblind. I don't consider it off topic and thanks for asking. Kinda hoping other people pitch in to help me figure this out.

The answer I am finding so far has to do with when things change hands. Most companies maintain separate databases / ledgers and each time an item changes hands, the process of authentication and establish provenance starts anew. For a supply chain which apparently has had issues with counterfeit, I'm interested to see if blockchain can secure provenance.

I like to think their primary advantage comes in building trust or removing the need for it within a multi-touch point supply chain. Currently most businesses have their own versions of ledgers in their own db’s, and when transactions occur, a bunch of work has to happen on both sides before everybody agrees to transact - contrast that with blockchain where they both have an identical copy of the same immutable ledger, and you see that trust is not so much of an issue anymore.

Of course, if you get everyone in the supply chain to agree to share in a tracking solution provider (SAP, Oracle, IMB etc all have solutions), then the database seems to function in a similar manner, but then you are basically giving what may be important or classified information over to a 3rd party vendor.

A buddy a work sent me this today and these guys do a nice job of explaining the basics: http://hyperledger-fabric.readthedocs.io/en/release/blockchain.html#why-is-a-blockchain-useful

Bitcore's primary value proposition is its ability to handle a giant load of transactions quickly. Out of curiosity, how did this week's successful demo of the lightning network affect the perceived value of the fork? If bitcoin can suddenly do ~56,000/s with this offchain improvement, which is pretty darn close to what visa can handle, that is game changing.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Bitcore- BTX - SEGWIT - lowest fee - hybrid fork 1:0.5 of Bitcoin on: January 26, 2018, 05:59:27 PM
It seems extremely common that during an airdrop period the number of holders is much higher than typical, hence keeping the volume low.

We are also still in phase where the currency is theoretically useful, but not actually useful to buy things yet. I could see things like a woocommerce gateway plugin and other solutions actually driving real use by people (as opposed to speculators or developers) when they can buy things.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Does adoption of the lightning network affect mining / staking payouts? on: January 26, 2018, 04:58:48 AM
If genuine adoption of the lightning network for a blockchain currency takes place, it would significantly decrease load on mining and staking for transaction support. It seems that would change the payouts in a significant way? Any good research on this yet?
13  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Guidance: Implementing a private and custom blockchain solution for supply chain on: January 26, 2018, 04:47:11 AM
I am meeting with a microchip manufacturer in three weeks to explore the idea of using blockchain as a solution to authenticate and track shipment of microchips from their manufacturing in Asia to customers across the globe.

Obviously, they could go commercial and buy in to any of the major startups working on this. After some discussion, because of excessive security concerns, they prefer to have someone they trust build a custom solution. Many of the projects have their work open sourced in github and perhaps we could fork or we can grow from the ground up.

There are some startups working hard on this. for example: http://www.blockverify.io/
I know that IBM is doing a ton on this specifically. https://www.ibm.com/blogs/blockchain/category/blockchain-supply-chain/ & https://www.ibm.com/blockchain/supply-chain/
There are a number of white paper and knowledgable debates. The questions is to find good working examples to leverage from: http://www.logisticsbureau.com/how-blockchain-can-transform-the-supply-chain/

Has anyone here actually build a custom blockchain solution who would be down to talk it through? Obviously my own education on this is just starting. We build a fair bit of custom software for global brands, but have not worked on any blockchain implementation.
14  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Question about Non-ICO based Cyptocurrency Project like Deeponion on: January 25, 2018, 11:47:06 PM
You do need to be a jr member on bitcointalk and have their signature in your account in order to benefit from the airdrop:

> In order to qualify, you must be a member of bitcointalk.org, at least at Jr Member level. You must wear DeepOnion signature during the course of all airdrops.

That said, bircointalk just changed the game yesterday and removed signatures for JR members. The good news is that the deeponion team running the airdrop quickly addressed that and said as long as the code is in your bitcointalk account, its good enough even if it doesn't show: https://deeponion.org/community/threads/bitcointalk-jr-members-can-still-apply-for-airdrops.27417/

Note the other requirements including a minimum number of onions in your wallet, participation on their forum etc.

If you have the time and interest, their bounties are legit.

Don't forget when someone really helps to thank by giving merit.
15  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need help setting up mining operation! on: January 25, 2018, 11:38:33 PM
Happy to help out!! I have not personally mined with a 980 GTx TI but the setup seems the same as it is for mt GTX 1080 (which is about 16% more power).

Example Results:
I am currently mining BTX (bitcore), which has help value amazingly well through the past few weeks compared to the other coins I hold and was mining. My 1080 is mining between 20 - 21.7mh/s average depending if I am overclocking. looking at the last 30 hours, I have earned 0.2463842 BTX @ $25.5 today (https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcore/) = $7.39 / 30 = $0.246/hr. so just over $175/month.

1. Set up bitcore wallet and join the airdrop

Go to the bitcore home page, scroll down and download the right wallet for your OS: https://bitcore.cc/. Install.
Create a specific address for the mining pool (in my case, I made one called “Mining Pool”)
Make sure to sign up for the airdrop (https://bitcore.cc/airdrop.php) and add every address in your wallet. Free 5+% per week!!! through march or april.

2. Pick a Pool

https://www.bitcorepool.cc/ (1,5% fee; good and stable one)
http://s.umine.org/ (0,5% fee, good and stable one) - 7day / money etc avg: .02406639
suprnova.cc - just lowered fees - need to research
http://psychedelic.fi/  -1% fees to attract adoption. young pool just getting started.

I am currently on bitcorepool, although I really like the crew at  psychedelic.fi pool as the founder is super active on Facebook and helped me troubleshoot issues. I am just waiting for it to be a touch more stable.

3. Set up your mining software

BTX only makes sense to mine with a GPU (graphics card).
CCMiner SPMOD2: https://www.facebook.com/groups/Bitcore.BTX/files/
Note that there are higher mods than 2, but they cost money while mod2 is free.
Almost every mining software triggers security software as lots of viruses install miners on other people’s computers and the anti-virus software just freaks out the second it sees a miner. I lost hours doing the research to get comfortable. As best as I can tell, this is safe. Ultimately, I had to tell windows defender to shut up and exclude ccminer from its quarantine behavior.

4. Configure windows

1. Increase virtual memory: Control panel > system & security > systems > advanced system > settings > advanced > virtual memory change > uncheck automatically  manage and change to custom custom size 10,000 - 20,000
2. Handle windows defender’s hate of mining: security and maintenance > change user account control settings > change to never notify (this handled the windows defender issue). Note defender still quarantines combiner some times and I have to undo that.
3. Allow the mining tool to restart itself if it crashes: bottom left Run >  regedit > windows > windows error reporting > create new word 32bit val > name “disabled” value data to 1

5. Set up bat file for miner

Make 2 batch files, one for when you aren’t using the computer and one for where you are and name them appropriately. The only change is the -i property which is the intensity of your mining.
Full blast: -o stratum+tcp://[pool url]:[pool ip] -u [wallet address]
No lag: -o stratum+tcp://[pool url]:[pool ip] -u [wallet address] -i 18

If you have multiple graphics cards, then you can add addition intensity definition.

Example: https://[Suspicious link removed]/3I1W1h0M3x26

6. Set up MSI for Overclocking (optional)

Grab a copy of https://www.msi.com/page/afterburner
You will want to play with the settings. I am trying at
Power limit 100%
Core +75
Memory clock +500
Once you pick them, click on the checkmark to enable the changes.
If your card crashes or has issues, then play with the settings. A lot of people suggested keeping the power setting at 80%.

7. Run your batch file!!
Enjoy mining.

8. Watch your coins accrue

If you need any specific help, just drop a note in here or head to the facebook group. If this is helpful, definitely throw some merit as a thanks.
16  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: is Mining worth? on: January 25, 2018, 06:17:07 AM
I have been mining BTX (bitecore) with a single 1080 GPU with a average of $2.50-3/day of payout and about $0.80/ day of power usage. I already had the card for gamaing and simply have it mine when I'm not using the computer. I won't retire on that, but for nearly 0 effort, I net about $500/yr in straight return, and then since I am holding, there is the growth factor should it happen as I expect.

New website looks fantastic.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Measuring pool potential? on: January 23, 2018, 01:18:39 AM
Has anyone found or created a calculator or algorithm which hits YIIMP's api to calculate what you would have made if you had contributed your mining hashrate to a pool over x timeframe? Basically, a way to try to weigh in the factors and identify the best pool? Right now, it feels like guesswork.

I'm only mining a single 1080 and can't decide if being a tiny fish in a big pool or a small fish in a small pool ends up more profitable.

Mining BTX, we have a few viable pools to work with.

bitcorepool.cc : no transaction fee : 1.5% pool fee : proportional : high volume
yiimp.eu : no transaction fee : 2% pool fee : proportional : high volume
supernova : 0.1% transaction fee : 1% pool fee : PPLNS : high volume
umine.org : ? transaction fee : 0.5% pool fee : proportional : medium volume
Psychedelic.fi : no transaction fee : -5% pool fee (not a typo) : proportional > soon PPLNS : very low volume.

Out of curiosity, what coin is btx truly competing against? Other bitcoin forks? Other speed of transaction solutions?
