1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] dstm's ZCash / Equihash Nvidia Miner v0.5.8 (Linux / Windows) on: February 01, 2018, 03:35:40 PM
Does the recent Meltdown and Spectre OS patches affect the DSTM Miner's performance?
Has anybody done any before/after benchmarks?

From what, I read the recent Meltdown patch (KPTI) affects any programs that call the Kernel frequently such as netwoking, SSD disk access and CUDA memory copy operations from host to GPU.

How often does the DSTM Miner call the Kernel, anyway ?

I'm looking into this on both Operating-Systems. Not all OS-patches are finished currently... so yes, I'm aware of the of the increased systemcall time.
Does the dstm miner perform the Blake2b hash on the CPU and transfer the results to the GPU by calling the CUDA driver and the Kernel each time ?
If "yes" then it can be affected by the increased systemcall time due to the OZ Meltdown patches.

As far I know dstm miner only mines ZEC and can't dual mine unless you use a program like Awesome miner . I don't think the Meltdown patch will affect it ... but CM eth dual miner possible could sense it can dual mine Blake2b coin types. Ofc i don't know shit lol .....I understand what you mean !!! Smiley .... that's just a example or answer to a problem that might happen that's not limited to one coin .  i just wanted to add to it ........
That does not make sense!
Mining ZEC requires calculating a lot of Blake2b hashes for the Equihash algorithm.

I have the same problem with DSTM 0.5.6, 0.5.7 and 0.5.8. Stable and fast as hell, but after one hour it starts to make less and less sol/s.. in three hours I'm getting half rate (I start with 680-700 sol/s and after 4 hours I end with 230 sol/s)... so my only solution is restart the miner. All the time no more than 60ºC, fan speed at 60%. I have two rigs, same specs and the same problem: Asrock H110 PRO + 13 Nvidia 1080Ti (up five different brands, mixed). Every rig have 4 PSUs: 3 x 1000W + 1 x 1600W and just one cable to power every riser (4 pin molex version) so no problems about power or temperature. I use simplemining without overclock, just power at 200W, no extra mhz in gpu core or memory. Is it a configuration problem?
I have the same problem.  With time, the miner just gets slower and slower... as if some lint was accumulating...but no errors are displayed, so I am blind to what's going on inside.

P.S.
Running 7x Nvidia 1080Ti, no overclocking, fans at 100%, temperatures no more than 63ºC

Is there a way to get the device name from API? I can see the device name while accessing the miner with a web browser, but it is not included if I perform a API call.
What API?
What exports this API function?

Dear dstm,

When you write in your Change log:
"con: add support for protocol v.01000020"

What does the "con" mean ?
Do you use any other mysterious abbreviations ?

Also what protocol  v01000020 are you referring to?
