I agree that there is a bright future for bitcoin. I think the recent exchange issues will blow over.  That said, I think the price will crash again once the exchanges have worked out issues and withdrawals are back.

I have learned that what the price does short-term has little to do with fundamentals and future prospects.  Short-term price especially has nothing to do with how i feel about it Smiley - although i wish that were not the case

Perhaps.  I think many in the community though would see through this move.  They would buy heavily into the panic selling along with you and thereby decrease the profits of your scheme.  You could do this for a time but not forever.  You would be putting up the risk by initiating the panic with a large sell and you have to buy those back cheaper.  If too many see the opportunity and and ride your coat tails it may make such behavior ineffective.

I've missed the bitcoin start-up days and i would like to ask you for a advice: it's worth investing in litecoins the days? Been watching the markets for 1 month now and in the past few days in jumped from 3-4 usd to 8-9. It really has the target of 0.25 bitcoin?

My two cents about this.  The target of 0.25 is possible but perhaps a bit high.  There are 4 times as many litecoins so assuming all else being equal between BTC and LTC then yes we could see a LTC value of 0.25.  BTC was first and will have that network effect going for it even if LTC was a better technology (not saying it is or isn't).  I think we could see LTC value of 0.10 someday.  We saw 0.05 or thereabouts last Spring and there has been a lot of good news for LTC lately.  If the excitement in these markets continues a little longer we could get a new record for LTC.  Going to be interesting to see what happens.

Mastercoin is a pretty cool idea, a protocol being built on top of bitcoin, not another alt coin!

Sorry but I don't get you, Mastercoin is another coin like Bitcoin which you can spend and use em?

There are (or at least were) two mastercoin alts.  One was just another "alt".  The one being built on the protocol layer is the interesting one.  I would add a link but i don't think I can add links cause I am new.

I started in January 13.  I tried the faucets for few months when I had nothing better to do.  I made 0.03 BTC (and payouts were bigger back then).  So at today's value my faucet coin is worth ~$12.  The time I put into those faucets could have easily been spent more efficiently collecting recyclable cans at a nickle a piece.  This was when BTC was under $50.  Just $5 in cans back then would have got me 0.1 BTC instead of the 0.03 from faucets.  I don't recommend faucets - just purchase BTC even if you can only afford a small purchase.  Change a habit like drink one fewer coffee out a week or something, most anything will pay bigger than a faucet and if you look at your finances and habits/patterns I bet somewhere you can change something that will save money and have added health bonus.

Fortunately I was able to buy some coins under $50 back then...

When I recently saw BTC cross the old April peak of around 266 I was pretty sure it had a way to go higher before crashing.  My reasoning is as follows.  In April when BTC hit 266 and crashed it had only been trading above 200 for like 2-3 days.  The price was just going crazy.  When we recently crossed 266 we had been trading above 200 for like two weeks.  We did not merely tap the 200's like April.  This time the price rose more slowly and approached 200 and retreated a few times before breaking through.  Now we are trading above 400 and making new record highs every few days.  At some point (probably after a big day with $60-$100 up move) this will end for awhile with a crash but I don't think it will crash down to fifty dollars like in April.

If that's true I think the price of a Litecoin is going to rise again Smiley

The current price is about $4,34 (according ). It looks like it's only increasing as the Bitcoin is rising. So, I would say, let the Bitcoin rise Smiley

Completely opposite of the correct analysis you have there, as BitCoin rises LTC and other alt coins always decrease. When BTC decreases, then LTC and other alts increase. I think it's going to change in the future but that's the current trend right now.

In terms of USD, all cryptocurrencies have been rising steadily.

The alts don't always decrease with rising BTC.  I disagree partly because in the past (last March and April after BTC broke 31 dollars) there were periods when LTC/BTC ratio increased with stable or increasing BTC/USD.

I posit that this has to do with the psychology of crossing the previous high.  Prior to last March when BTC was below 31 (the old high) and still recovering from its last big crash rising BTC/USD resulted in falling LTC/BTC.  Everyone was excited to see BTC rise and abandoned LTC, but once BTC broke 31 and pushed higher and higher the price kept getting more expensive and folks started looking to alt currencies (like LTC) to buy in the speculative hope that they could get big BTC returns by speculating in alts.  And/or those who had large BTC positions were looking to diversify especially as BTC reached ever higher toward 266 peak.  If this is correct our recent cross of 266 puts us in this same environment.  Folks who are putting funds in to buy BTC are saying " darn I thought I would buy at 300 or 200 but now its 400 and we may be nearing a top.  Or folks who have made alot in BTC and now start to fear a top is near and they diversify a bit.  This may not be the case but if it is we should see big rises in LTC/BTC soon.
