Hi and welcome!

You are in the right place to start getting to know cryptos. It might seem like a huge black hole where you don't even know what you are looking for. I will try to simplify it to you.

1. Read the rules
2. Learn the terminology
3. Think about your own objectives, what is it you want to do
 - earn
 - invest
 - just widen your general knowledge
4. Depending on the previous you can find information
 - Earning: Find information about airdrops and bounties in different projects
 - Investing: Find information about legit projects that have good prospects. Please note a few things about investing:  Never invest more than you are willing to lose. Always make the decision self. If someone pushes you to invest back off, they usually are scammers because legit projects have respect towards people.
- Just widening your general knowledge: Start by understanding blockchain, crypto, exchanges etc.

Good luck to you with which ever path you decide to take!

Honestly, this guide will lead you nowhere.

Except for the read the rules here, which is the most important thing to do. The rest is just a waste of time.

The first thing to do @OP is to invest and I think you already have an idea what I'm talking about there's nothing free here anymore(aka. airdrops). And everything will just follow, you'll learn through time.

Why do people want Bitcoin?
Well, why do you want Bitcoin?
A lot of crypto value comes from Speculation.

Did you mean people want Bitcoin because it could make them rich?

Lets be true here, most of the people are here because they see an opportunity and that opportunity is to be rich as fast as they can, Bandwagon as you call it. (LOL, am I right?)
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ways to improve Bitcoin Community on: April 05, 2018, 11:53:46 AM
I think the major way we could work to improve the bitcoin community is by actually having community spirit, treating each other as comrades rather than competition. Helping to build each other up, rather than knocking each other down. Right now the community is quite hostile, new coins actively try to discredit old ones, and vice-versa, there is no real attempt to build a better coin for the sake of the future, but instead appears to be done only for maximum profit. This is no Satoshi's vision.

#This.

You have actually hit the bulls-eye. This is I think the main bitcoin community (the forum), yet what I see is some flaming, hostility, discredit, bullying a divided community which I think counter-productive.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Most profitable coin to mine information sources on: April 05, 2018, 11:40:49 AM
I would not be relying much on whattomine.com all of the coins on their website is not profitable anymore, well maybe a few of them. What you can do as others have said is research, try all mineable coins and see what is more profitable.

can you give a coin that profitable to mine?

You're naive as soon as it appear in here, it's no longer profitable...

Cheesy This is true. Difficulty increase when miners flock into it.
5  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [Paybear] What do you think of this new website? on: April 03, 2018, 12:53:40 AM
I think no one seems interested about this project, I haven't seen much of a support from Bitcointalk community, @DrakeDG you should start releasing the ANN post as early as possible to reach more potential customers.
6  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do You Have Any Fear Bitcoin Might Crash Someday. on: February 10, 2018, 12:00:15 PM
Looking at the rapid growth the Croptocurrency world is experiencing right now, with new and promising Tokens (ONL, ATFS, BERRY etc) being introduced on regarly basis. I actually have a strong confidence that cryptocurrencies would get worldwide acceptance in the nearest future, and with Bitcoins topping the charts of all existing Bitcoins right now, Bitcoins stands to benefit from the newborn cryptos emerging. So if you ask me, I think it is quite impossible for Bitcoin to CRASH.

So whats really your position? Will it crash or not?
ETH is the one supporting those new crypto's because of its smart contract, some are just a copy paste of the blockchain technology.
7  Economy / Economics / Re: Armed robbers have raided the house of a British virtual currency trader on: February 08, 2018, 11:54:17 AM
Just asking, would the government make an action about this? Would it be possible to return the stolen amount the person?

Is everyone and their dog going to make new merit threads hoping to get merit?   Undecided

Haha. Everyone is creating their own thread hoping to get some merits donation.
9  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What is The safest trading site which we should choose? on: January 27, 2018, 04:24:24 AM
Nothing is safe, as we know even the coincheck had recently been hacked. For me nothing is safe as long as its online. So its better not to always put all your money in any trading platform.
10  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: HOLD by TRADE , that is possible? on: January 25, 2018, 04:20:11 PM
Hello my friends, I am a newcomer to the Trade and I have been Holding the potential coin. I realized one thing I could increase the amount of coin hold by trading them, for example I hold 100ADA then I sell for 0.6$ buy back at 0.56$. I have increased the number of coin. Be sure to buy the right one if you do not reach the target, and the last target is the one you want to target. That's the experience I've been drawn to, how do you feel? Can you trade more effectively?
P.s: I have a post for some of my new friends to refer to: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2777983.0 , you have some advice for them, let me know by commenting on that, and this post is about the best way to trade.

You should understand by doing this, you're provoking a trading fees.

what does that mean? It means if you bought a coin held it for a while then sold higher, then rebought earlier means you're doing another deal in terms of taxes you will be paying twice not once.

means you will pay taxes for your trade on the first one , and trade on the second time you're buying thus this does not count as HODL (which means you buy the coin and hold it for a long period of time, this counts as normal trading .. as if this method good or not, it's basically replacing the base from dollars to that particular coin).

Who pays taxes on crypto profits lol ?

Actually, there is although is not named as Taxes rather Trading fees. The exchange gets a cut to every transaction done.
11  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Buying USDT during crypto dips.your thoughts. on: January 24, 2018, 02:02:46 PM
During times of crypto blood bath,I prefer to sell off my portfolios and buy USD Tether which usually fluctuates minimally.Any better options or thoughts on this?

Tether is supposed to be an escape rope when the market are crashing, its a better way of safe keeping your money rather than converting it all the Fiat currency when the market are all red.
12  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: thought on Tether? on: January 23, 2018, 01:27:02 PM
Are you even serious? or are you just trolling?

Tether(USDT) is tethered to 1 USD hence tether only hovering $1 or a few cents more or less. You're pretty much investing on something that's supposedly not going to move in value. Though it's debatable whether or not it's safe to store your funds on tether.

Also, make sure to do research before investing, as it looks like you definitely didn't do any research with your tether "investment".

Read: https://tether.to/

If what I read is right. Your investment will not grow even if you will hold if for a long period of time, is that right? So what is the sense of investing to it? LOL
13  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading by follow signals. Is it good? on: January 22, 2018, 06:10:28 AM
This so called trading signals are just group of "speculators" they are not 100% sure and most of the time just predicting how would the price in the market go.
14  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: ICO Prices Too High on: January 21, 2018, 02:09:12 AM
The price of their coins depends on the numbers of token or supply they have. That is what I know about this ICO thing, not sure though. So if the ICO has low amount of supply they would probably sell those coins at a higher price.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Blood-Bath Over? on: January 18, 2018, 11:24:46 AM
I guess so. The correction is over I think because we had been seeing a lot of green in the market. I hope the market will recover this coming few weeks.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: alll coin going down. what should we do? on: January 17, 2018, 02:14:46 PM
You need to have the guts right now. haha All of the coins made big dips in the market. The ability the be patient and hold on their investments will be tested right now.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: alll coin going down. what should we do? on: January 16, 2018, 11:25:25 AM
Its not a good idea to sell your BTC right now. The price is at 13K but for sure when the correction is finished it will be back to 17k or 16k again. Just sell for alts when you reach that level.
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Phising and scamming is getting out of hand on: January 15, 2018, 03:12:57 PM
Its really hard to tell what is legit and what is not. The no. of scammers and phishers increased due to the increased popularity of the cryptocurrency that is why there are this fake accounts in this forum.

Yes I agree with this, some of my neighbors come and tell me about a stranger offers an invedtion starting 100$ which already huge in our country and promise to her that just wait for freaking 2 hours and it will be double, I am really really shocked because the way they used to impressed is very catchy which is very dangerous not only for the people but also for the sake of this platform which added a bad reputation to this platform.

That is the called the power of convincing. Once a person is convinced he cannot say anything but yes. That is also what's happening in this business, scammers have the ability to make fake a legit and convincing.

20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin transaction fees fair? on: January 14, 2018, 07:11:47 AM
Actually its not really fair right now. The fees in bitcoin has been a problem and we kept on ignoring it. Although the market value of bitcoin is high it doesn't have to mean that TX fees are also high.
