If the dev wants to make the latest qt source code available I can try my hand at debugging it (software dev by profession just new to cryptos).

Is anyone else having trouble getting their Qt wallet to update?

Mine is showing 8 connections with 26759 blocks downloaded (last at 1036 this morning).  The little arrows at the bottom right of the main screen are chasing each other's tails and have been for some time, but no new blocks are being dowloaded.  I have at least one incoming transaction due which hasn't shown up.

It's possible: before height X calculate hash with old function, after height X - calculate hash with new function. The reasons why other altcoins don't do it:
  (a) hard forks are very annoying and risky, especially when the coin is already widely adopted
  (b) most altcoins don't have devs competent enough to do the change.

Mooncoin is still in its infant stage, we're forced to do a hard fork soon, and we have Deacon who's able to do the change (the complexity of the change is not higher than switching to gravity well). So I think we should consider it.

Question for anyone who knows...

Why is a new wallet considered a "hard fork" in this case? I have not changed the cryptographic keys used for the currency. As far as I understand, if you are a regular user and upgrade your client, once the block height gets to the height specified in the code for using the grav well, everything just keeps humming along as intended.

The only people who will get left out are those who keep running the old code.

Is that not correct?

Yes, I believe that's correct.

To be honest I've been thinking this for awhile now too (and I used to think dogecoin was junk).

Any chance of Kimoto's Gravity Well being implemented?  Several other coins have incorporated it after release and by all accounts has been seamless.

i have already spent more than 10 hours to mine mooncoin with 10Mh/s, and got almost nothing. If i spent same power to mine dogecoin, i'll get 2 or 3 ltc worthy value at least. Although i love the mooncoin, it's impossible to keep mining it. Maybe, the develop team should give some payment for miners like me to overcome the difficulty asap. It's just a suggestion, i'm sure it will make benefits for us all.
Good luck to your team and the lovely mooncoin!

I was mining at multipool.us and it delivers no problems. Ok, was 800k/hour last week, now only 40k/hour.

Cfx.

All i would say it hold them, Im hoping!... this weekend (if the rumours are true) the value will increase.
I bought some during the panic selling and hoping to make a little more than i paid and hold on longer term to the rest

just mine this 177 blocks, and diff will be normal again. Its 1 day max, COME !

What is preventing the exact same thing from happening again when the diff drops and the multipools swing back around?

Nothing. That CoinWarz listing is a curse.

when people create coin, he have to set diff change eatch 1-10 block... i wait new difficulty too and after i come back on moon

Can this be added by the dev without major disruption to the coin?

Is re-coding the difficulty something that the dev can do easily without major disruption to the coin as whole?

I"m sitting on ~2M mooncoins that I mined in a couple of days back around the launch.  I'll hold them, but the problem I see for Mooncoin is it has nothing differentiating it from other litecoin clones.  There's no niche for it to occupy, and thus it really just exists as a PND vehicle.

Guys, I have a strong feeling than Moon Coin will get big. I mean, look at Doge. Moon is better.

Why is Moon better?

Because it does not have a meme. I know this sounds contradictionary, but give it some thought.

It does have a meme though.  "To da moon", etc.  Arguably much weaker than the doge meme in terms of popularity and "mainstream" acceptance.  It also has 4x the coins.

Seemed more like inexperience than ill-intent, but who knows.

This seems like a decent enough alt-coin.  Marketing push?

If you take a step back we are still in the infancy of crypto-currencies at the moment, and it's like the wild wild west out there.  While I'm no expert by any means, I try to evaluate each coin based on how positive I see its niche.  What does *coin bring to the table that separates it from the crowd?
