What's up with the constant syncing issue over past few days? Any fixes?
522  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Email from Overstock to over 41 million people! on: March 12, 2014, 11:48:30 PM
Excellent article. I had no idea the Overstock CEO decided to accept Bitcoin because he actually believes in it and because he sees the blatant corruption and problems in the fiat system. Also I agree with him that another big recession is in the making if we don't change the way the economy runs, be it with cryptocurrency or something else.

Also, random fact about Overstock I found on Wikipedia: "in January 2010, the National Retail Federation ranked the company #2 in the U.S. for best customer service.[23] In December of the same year, a Forbes-commissioned study found Overstock.com to be one of the top 10 best places to work in America."

I think I'll be switching from Amazon to Overstock. We need to support companies that care about people (both their customers and employees) and support Bitcoin.

Try a bank, they'll definitely give you that loan !
524  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First we got robbed by mybitcoin and now I got robbed by Bitlaundry. on: March 12, 2014, 10:21:40 PM
Holy necrothread batman.

Offtopic question, what would someone use a website like Bitlaundry for?
525  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Raising Donations for the Polycoin Pro-Profit Organization on: March 12, 2014, 10:08:00 PM
At least you're honest about it unlike half the "donation" runs in the Bitcoin community.

US government ideology.
527  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buy or Sell / BTC down or up ? on: March 11, 2014, 04:54:52 AM
Both, Buy low and sell high.   Cheesy

In my mind, buy low sell high. In reality, sell low buy high.
528  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hackers allege Mt. Gox CEO still controls 'stolen' Bitcoin on: March 11, 2014, 03:14:19 AM
This story was already posted and largely discredited yesterday. www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1zz5ym/mtgox_scam_was_just_exposed_mk_officially_stole/
529  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: lost btc on: March 11, 2014, 03:11:38 AM
The only way to "lose" BTC is to forget your codes. Which isn't a huge issue to begin with (most of the lost BTC stories are people who mined them ages ago and totally forgot about them) and I would argue is becoming less of an issue with time as people learn to be more careful.

The goal is to replace fiat period, because fiat can be controlled/used by governments and other groups of people who manipulate it to their ends and fuck over the average citizen.

How is it flawed? If the price goes up, then we will just use fractions of a bitcoin. The finite 21 million doesn't matter because it can be broken down infinitely.
530  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hackers steal data from MtGox server and release it with Mark's reddit account. on: March 09, 2014, 10:17:21 PM
As the reddit post said, this looks like an attempt by hackers to pin the lost bitcoins on Karpeles. I don't think he's stupid enough to steal that many bitcoins for himself, especially when he's already rich.
531  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We are losing Bitcoin.Bitcoin had its 15 minutes of fame We are losing our dream on: March 09, 2014, 06:05:02 AM
Math-based currencies are here to stay.  Whether Bitcoin will be a part of it or not, remains to be seen.  You make the very point I made many months ago, how can you seek mass adoption, while seeking to be completely disconnected from the masses?   Huh  Me thinks it won't work but at least the tech is here so regardless, the world is still moving toward a better financial place.

Bitcoin is good enough and secure enough, it still needs some active development though. What truly is required is strong infrastructure which is truly lacking

Yeah this is the major point. People will flock in masses when the infrastructure is in place to make bitcoin truly 100% convenient. We know it already is more convenient than fiat in many instances but it needs more to really outshine credit cards. This takes time - it's been what 5 years now? But we need more time.
532  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Apple's War against Bitcoin means they want to create their own Crypto on: March 09, 2014, 05:58:31 AM
This topic brings up an interesting thought: What would Steve Jobs do in response to Bitcoin if he was alive? we know he's not a traditional oldboys CEO type - Apple was in the shitter before he came back and introduced a series of innovative products. I think he would support Bitcoin because he was a big fan of innovation.
533  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Major news networks intentionally ignore bitcoins. on: March 08, 2014, 06:16:39 AM
They don't ignore bitcoins. They ignore POSITIVE news about bitcoins. If it's negative then bring it on, they love spreading FUD to the misinformed public. You know, the type of people who said "CEO of Bitcoin was arrested" when Shrem was brought up on charges.
534  Other / Off-topic / Re: Satoshi on: March 07, 2014, 10:53:26 PM
This shit is really stupid and pointless and has the possibility of ruining people's lives. Why does it matter? I just don't get the human tendency to glorify a single individual and then track everything they do. The guy doesn't want to be revealed, leave him be.
535  Other / Off-topic / Re: Idea of spending 500btc with a limit !! on: March 07, 2014, 10:48:05 PM
What will be your crazy/cool/weird idea of spending 500BTC with a time limit of 24 hours !!

Pick 500 random address's and send each one 1BTC

Subtle nudge to OP to give us all free money.

But seriously, 500 BTC isn't that much when you look at the world's millionaires/billionaries. You can't even buy a house with 500 BTC at current prices in many expenses places. If I had that much to spend in a day, I'd buy a TESLA S and a small cabin in the woods and live as a hermit.
536  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What to call 0.001 BTC? (5 BTC Bounty) on: March 07, 2014, 10:46:23 PM
Bitty. You got three bitty, man?
537  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you were satoshi... what would your "return from the void" post be? on: March 07, 2014, 10:45:29 PM

538  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A call for the Bitcoin Foundation to appoint a new board or dissolve on: March 07, 2014, 10:38:29 PM
Or how about...we just stop paying attention to them and let them die off on their own? The Bitcoin community never asked for a foundation, and we certainly don't need some kind of a "authority" for a decentralized currency. If someone wants to sue them for whatever damage they have done they should, but as a community I think the best thing to do is let them sink into obscurity.
539  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HUC] Huntercoin - Human Minable - MMOCG - Update 24/Feb/14 on: March 07, 2014, 10:00:52 PM
New update isn't working for me, the wallet never opens. Yes I tried rescan and all of that. It sits at the logo launch screen and revs up to 90% CPU usage - my computer is getting really hot and running horribly.

I used to get this problem with every update but not this time. Are you sure you got the right file? It has to be 1.05d, not the other 2 versions on the mediafile link. Also if the logo is going up, give it 10 minutes or so. If it doesn't work after that then I'm not sure.
540  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin shop in London on: March 07, 2014, 09:35:43 PM
A black man opening a Bitcoin store. Everyone will lose their shit! Seriously though good for him.

Also I love how ignorant and stupid the comments on the article are.

"Another ponsi style scheme for people easily parted with their money." "Guess how many hackers are working on ways of making them all suddenly disappear from your account".

Shows you how far we are from real mainstream adoption...
