Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alt coins worth buying

For sure XRP and Ethereum are the most undervalued coins with huge potential of the price to skyrocket. They are both worth buying i Also strongly believe that SiaCoin has a huge potential and currently the price is very attractive.
Not sure how you can think Ethereum is undervalued!? I believe deep onion has potential. Airdropping is a really interesting way to distribute the coins and allows all who signup and participate the ability to get involved! Also looking at Electroneum which is interesting concept.. mobile mining that actually doesn't contribute to the blockchain, just spews out free coins to get people involved in crypto. Could take off!

The restrictions regarding rank and registration date of the accounts are in place to prevent cheaters from creating multiple new accounts and abuse the airdrop. One downside of these restrictions is that there are only so much existing members on BCT who qualify. Many of them have dumped their coins already. You see that it is difficult to find a balance between a big community and keeping the cheaters out.
This definitely makes a lot of sense. Unfortunately it does make it difficult for new comers to get involved too. I guess the majority of people investing in altcoins are going to be people who have been around the bitcointalk forum so they should have an account with a post history. If I told a friend about this coin though, and they'd never had an account here they are essentially locked out of the airdrop for a while right? Their only way in would be to buy from an exchange which would be hard to ration; why pay for coins when thousands of dollars worth are being dropped every week to members who just have an account on a forum?

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: So low market cap is better for investment?

I think in this day and age it has changed some what... Back when altcoins first started exploding at the end of 2013, you could invest in pretty much any new coin and make a quick buck.
Now there are so many different ideas out there, different coins that all actually have potential, that it's difficult to choose which ones to invest in. There are many coins with good ideas, now it's really important to check the credentials of the team and make sure the idea behind the coin is sound, that they have an achievement roadmap etc. Don't buy acoin just because it's 400th+ on coinmarketcap and could increase... does it have good technology behind it? Who's driving the development? etc
If I were to invest in any at the moment they'd be ones that have been around a while and are at least top 100 market cap. Buying/selling low volume coins is also a complete hassle. Even if it goes up 100x it doesn't matter if no one is buying!

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs

This is a long shot i guess but i invested in NEM right way back when and have been out of the crypto scene for a while.. I found a private key I stored somewhere but it looks like I never redeemed my stake to that address as it is empty. I assume there is a 0 chance that this far after launch my NEM is still stored somewhere waiting for me? lol
I have a token etc proof via private messages that I was an early supporter (and my forum hasn't changed).
*edit* - Oh wow what do you know my signature has an address with NEM in... lost forever as I have no idea what the key is rofl.

guys i know this is very very late to ask, but is it still possible to claim my NEM stake ?? i paid for it a LONG time ago (and have all the proofs) and only now came back to see it rising up ! thanks
nope. redemption has been finished up quite a bit ago. I taught there was a late redemption as well! Yes, there was Ah, I have been out of the Crypto scene a while and tried to use my token to claim my stake today... Guessing I'm never going to receive my stake then? My NEM address is in my signature if someone would kindly donate a very small amount so I can at least start mining?

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SilkCoin | New Wallet | - HARD FORK MANDATORY UPDATE - | POW in 2 days
|

I updated the OP with supply . Regarding the last FUD comments it's obviously linked to the fact we're having a big spike in volume and price today. Anyway most of the last FUD comments don't make any sense if you followed just a bit our updates.. Also main difference between us and the other people : we deliver we don't just post photoshops as Numus I guess or any other examples you said, have you at least downloaded the wallet ? You know it's not photoshop on the gif right? And I'll say just one last thing that will counter any FUD spreading : 1 month pause and 2 POW phase is the LAST thing a scam dev would do, think about it... Anyway it's great to see so much people rally to Silkcoin and the last POW phase haven't even started ! Silk coin does not just have ONE dev... There is a team of DEVS working hard on making this coin the best in crypto. This may one day not just replace Bitcoin, but also Facebook and Twitter... This is truly many people's ground floor opportunity... Best advice is to get some while you can and stash them! Judge Crypto Just curious, how *exactly* do you think that Silkcoin will replace social media platforms when it's supposed to be a currency? Kind of a bold statement to make!

QUESTIONS TO ANYONE WHO KNOWS (no guessing please)
1. If I mined 10 million coins in first few days and intend to keep them for the POS minting, but I have also mined more since then, how does the wallet know which coins I transfer out to sell? Does it take first in /first out or how does it really know? My guess is that there is no possible way and this is a major hiccup in the code.
2. If it pays POS before mining is complete (down to 1 coin per block) how does it know if coins have already been paid the POS or not? If I buy 1 million from someone who got their POS payment, those have been paid the first payment. But if I am still mining 1 million also, how does the system know which coins are new and which are old? Another serious flaw I am thinking. Uless the POS starts after the reward drops to 1 coin.
I realize everyone here is a genious and has their belief, but I want an accurate answer as the answer is very importnat and depending on it, there is a potential HUGE arbitrage situation in the making.
1. Withdrawals are random 2. When coins are transfered coin age are reset to 0 for those coins and a new 20 day period start. 1. this needs to be addressed. We should be able to get a list of the coin age of coins in our wallets and pick which coins to send. Or by default send the youngest coins. Agree wholeheartedly with you. I didn't realise this when sending to an exchange and lost a TON of coinage.
