181  Other / Politics & Society / Re: OBAMA PARALYZED BY MUSLIM SYMPATHIES on: September 09, 2014, 09:48:37 AM
While Obama is kind of indecisive and cautious about the middle east (and it is logical because of the catastrophic results of Afghanistan and Iraq war), that article is rubish and doesn't present any facts and logical reasonning, it is just another poor attempt to criticize Obama
182  Other / Politics & Society / Re: NASA: Asteroid Will Pass 'Very Close' to Earth on Sunday on: September 09, 2014, 09:44:13 AM
If this piece of rock was headed to Earth, there would be no chance of deflecting it, because we spotted it too late. We need to fully fund NASA, to not only find these asteroids, but to give us a chance of deflecting them when necessary.

while the size of this asteroid woudn't have caused much damage, if there was an asteroid big enough to do critical damage, I personnaly prefer not being informed, as it will only create panic and we might destroy ourselfs before it hit.

Detecting could be good as long as solutions are put in place to deflect such asteroids, there are many serious studies on way to deflect such a thing such by using gravity or ion and co trust to change direction by just a few seconds which would in long distance make it miss the earth by a huge marging
183  Other / Politics & Society / Re: American Health care: $10,169 for a blood test? on: September 09, 2014, 09:29:25 AM
$10,169 would be more than the median annual income in some developing economies.  Grin

in which you can get the blood test for free ....and you can't do so in the US, which shows how broken is the american healthcare system is
184  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Record: 92,269,000 Not in Workforce - USA on: September 09, 2014, 09:22:30 AM
it's not only the US, the EU as well is suffering, but I didn't think it was that bad for the US with all the news about the industry picking up speed, and silicon valey reaching new records, and with the unleash of the schist oil industry (which destroys the environment but who cares ) there was a boost to employement in the US
185  Other / Politics & Society / Re: American Health care: $10,169 for a blood test? on: September 02, 2014, 06:15:08 PM
The US healthcare is one of the most broken healthcare system among 1st world countries heck even some 3rd world countries has a better system, and sadely this isn't a problem of $$ but it is more related to mismanagement and strong lobbying from the private sector, and this is why I disagree with total capitalism and liberalism economy/politcal system and prefer a system that associate capitalism with socialism to keep a certain balance in sociaty

His right of opinion should be respected, but I totaly disagree and find it immoral to kill because of a disease or else why not kill, kids and full grown up when we are at it.
Why did I say kill instead of abortion because, unless I'm mistaken, to be able to diagnosed of Downs syndrome the age of the fetus should be advanced and nearing birth

And this is why I believe Hamas is going to continue to look like mindless killers to the US. Some of them are mindless killers; the question is why. Disliking Hamas shouldn't blind people to everything else. I know it can, but only because people want to be small.

I don't get your point in relation to the article posted, can you elaborate some more please ?
I think i said it all by calling Hamas mindless killers, they just kill, even their own people, they have no strategy ..........

I don't think that Hamas are mindless killers, some of their members might be, and some of the extremist might riding the the resistance cause, and off course that goes without saying that targeting innocent civilians is a terrorist act and should be condemned, but some of their actions can be understood if you check the suffering of the Palestinians, and you should know that Hamas members are from Palestinians civilians, and probably had lost a member of their familly or a close person.

Trough history, every country or population that was occupied had within it an armed group, even Jews in the Warsaw ghetto and other locations resorted, at least partially, to similar strategies that are used right now by Hamas such as the tunnels and co. But I guess it is easy for Israel and it allies to call anything, everything and anyone that would wants to fight the occupation as terrorist.

The funny part is that Hamas was an Israeli creation to offset Fatah and create not only a physical separation between Gaza and the West Bank but also a political and even an armed one, which kind of worked till the beginning of June, when Hamas and the PLO decided to form the unity government following the US and EU orders and advise, a move that was applauded by these same instances when it was made and which Israel really feared because it was to push them to negotiation table, hence they started this whole event.
190  Other / Politics & Society / Re: One in six French people say they support ISIS on: August 26, 2014, 08:47:34 PM
Within those countries, IS supporter are far less than 1/6

I am not that sure. Among the Maghreb nations, only Morocco is having no history of Islamist insurgency.

There was a bloody civil war in Algeria which lasted for more than a decade, where the government forces fought against groups such as the Islamic Front for Armed Jihad and the Islamic Salvation Front. The brutality exhibited by the FIS was extreme (even the ISIS wanes in comparison). Also, the Islamic Salvation Front received close to 50% of the votes in the 1991 elections.

And although Tunisia has remained peaceful for many decades now, don't forget that the current ruling party is a local branch of the Islamic Brotherhood.

IMO, the ISIS support might be very low in Morocco, but significant in both Tunisia and Algeria.
As you said Morocco is fine although it got direct threats from Aqmi and Isis hence they've raised the security level to it highest (aka military with army equipment and SAM systems deployed near all major cities and key infrastructure

As for Algeria because of the military insurgence against the Islamic government that won fair and square in the 90s it resulted in terrorist acts and to this day they are still happening, and the population are having enough of this and not to mention that the current government PR is that they are fighting them, hence people in Algeria are very sensible to anything related terrorism

As for Tunisia might a tad bit more liberal and secularist than Morocco, and the Tunisian rulling party has nothing to do with the Islamic brotherhood, the Party is similar to the one rulling in Morocco or in Turkey, while it members has an Islamic orientation, when it comes to ruling the country, they are working as an Political party like any other without mentioning religion ( a mistake that the Muslim brotherhood made in Egypt )

Still 16 % is huge, if you read the PDF, it is split like something 1 or 2% favorable and 14-15% slightly favorable) but the key thing for me in that article is the date of the survey as I mentioned which July and till then ISIS was still presented by some media as fighting the bloody Syrian regime no more no less, I'm pretty things would be different right now.

I feel like that the vox article being posted right now is to serve some agenda or just to criticize and be a click bait especially under the current circumstances
191  Other / Politics & Society / Re: American reporter beheaded by ISIS - America Needs To Fight Back! on: August 26, 2014, 08:31:52 PM

Could a CPR dummy start WW-III?  Time will tell.

Here's the event from a different angle:

Actually someone made a serious video in French about how the video could be fake, yet another conspiracy theory? I really don't know as I didn't watch the real video because it give me chills to see such shocking scenes
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6sJTEIJpRdI#t=295

Anyway don't know what to think as either side are able to due such acts and been proven to do so in the past.
192  Other / Politics & Society / Re: One in six French people say they support ISIS on: August 26, 2014, 07:05:04 PM
I never knew the French would support ISIS.

Around 20% of the French population is Muslim, as a result of massive immigration from the Maghreb region (Algeria-Morocco-Tunisia). So it is not surprising that a large part of them (more than 75%) are supporting the ISIS. Now they are trying to reverse the trend, by encouraging immigration of Christians from the Middle-East (recently they granted refugee status to all Christians in Iraq). But I am afraid that it came a bit too late. Many of the housing estates are completely controlled by mafia-like gangs, of Maghrebi extraction.

Within those countries, IS supporter are far less than 1/6, not only that, but the source of these pools is quite weird also notice the date of the pools which is in July in prior to Iraq events, well here is the pdf detailling the results http://www.icmresearch.com/data/media/pdf/New%20EU%20Members-Combined-July%202014-V3.pdf

Still so many unanswered questions

Iron Dome is American not Israeli and it ammo are made and delivered by the US not to mention that is fully paid and sponsored by dem US taxpayers. and his point is not a propaganda as obviously he is not talking about iron dome but all the weapons used in the offense against Gaza which was initiated by Israel under false accusations
I'm not going to mention all the details, but lets just resume at that it is palestine that is under Israeli occupation and not the other way around...

It might be paid for by the US, but it is Israeli technology and manufacture.

Nope it isn't, it is mainly US technology (long range, against balestic missiles ...ect) euh Patriot anyone?  but adapted by the Israelis to the context which is Hamas artisanal rockets and shells which are short range. It is a pretty straight forward system using an AESA radar made and a guided missile system (3 components)

And yes it is manufactured in Israel, the radar system is made by Israel Aerospace, and the Missile system is made by Rafael

Patriot? There isn't much connection between the systems besides they both knock down missiles.

patriot- a few million dollars a piece      tamir- 50,000$

The differences in size and weight is enormous.     The Launching system is unique in calculating if it is "worthwhile" to shoot a missile.

And besides- the patriots missile are not really that good-  sometimes they make more damage than anything else.

You apparently didn't read most of my comment, Obviously they are not the same products, and I stated so in my comment the Patriot is long range and targeted against ICBMs and the Iron Dome is targeted against short range and small targets where the inspiration comes from, is from a function stands point, tracking and shooting technology.... My comment was clear, the technology is adpated to targets, and Iron dome is more or less a downsized miniature version of Patriot adapted to Israel needs.

Chinese superstitious. Sound pretty stupid in the modern age.

He should get prosecuted for abusing his position.

He is getting punished, the communist party in china is no joke when it comes to PR image to the population, they know they are monitored by the population and things could turn bad for them, heck in the last two years 4 or 5 members were punished for various reasons, included one which son was involved in a mortal car crash with Ferrari .....

As for Chinese superstitious, there are some people that still believe strongly on such things especially old people which is the case of this guy

196  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Justifications for Gaza on: August 26, 2014, 05:44:29 PM
Hundreds of thousands refugees? thats a lie. They returned to their homes after the ground invasion was stopped.
That so called level of devastation is exaggerated.

What homes are you talking about? whole neighborhoods were destroyed. you have no idea what you are talking about. even if this point was explained to you many times, heck even UN refuges are not safe from Israel bombardment which is blatantly a crime war

one state sultion-you are naive if you think the Palestininans would be so happy to have the "evil zionist jews" to rule over them. The Jews would not want the Palestinian to rule over them either-rightly so.
Not with hundreds of thousands of Jews living in the West Bank,a 1967 lines agreement is practically impossible. a future Palestinian state can only be based on new lines and borders.

And this is way Israel is pushing settlers and illegal settlement in west bank to make the same excuse you are making here. If they really wanted peace they could move the settlers out and build them new houses elsewhere, as for the building they could be sold for money so there would be no financial lose

Lets say the disputed blockade was ended-do you really think Israel and Hamas will suddenly ride towards the sunset on a unicorn, and live happily ever after?

Nope but at least it will ease the tension and it would especially relief the Gaza population, they could at least get medical treatment, first necessity equipment and goods, right now they don't even have access to sewage system or clean water and I'm not going to talk about electricity which seems to be a luxury in the area nowadays.

Most of the problems would be solved if Israel accepts and follows the UN resolutions and following the 67 borders and giving palestinians to have their rights as in any other country, which again not going to happen because Israel does not want that.
197  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Anyone following the ebola outbreak? on: August 25, 2014, 04:37:10 PM
More ebola news, still spreading I wonder how long until the initial stages of transmission end.
Two new cases of Ebola reported in Democratic Republic of Congo
http://www.vox.com/2014/8/24/6063027/ebola-virus-found-in-the-democratic-republic-of-the-congo

The Ebola outbreak has been confined to West Africa: Sierra Leone, Liberia, Nigeria, and Guinea. Now a fifth country — the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Central Africa — appears to be battling the virus.

The DRC health minister, Dr. Felix Kabange Numbi, says two people have just died from Ebola during a deadly hemorrhagic fever outbreak in a remote, northwestern region of the country. According to reports, there were 13 deaths in total.

Numbi says the outbreak in his country has "nothing to do with the one in West Africa," according to the Associated Press. But the World Health Organization says it is waiting to confirm the DRC's findings. In its own labs, it will test to find out which of the five strains of the Ebola virus afflicted the Congolese and whether they match the strain circulating in West Africa, known as Zaire ebolavirus.

At least it still looks containable.

First case was detected yesterday in Burkina Fasso from what I heard in the radio yesterday, but not the problem I think the the issue is the incubation period that last several weeks, which render the virus visibly indetectable for a certain period of time, you can have travelers with 0 symptoms moving around freely as the main dispositive in airports is infrared cameras that detects the fever for example
198  Other / Politics & Society / Re: US Mission to Rescue Hostages in Syria Failed on: August 25, 2014, 04:26:46 PM
This mission should have never been made public. Giving the enemy any information of successful or failed missions does nothing but make future missions more difficult. We have seriously incompetent Idiot-in-Chief in charge.

Then Obama goes off and plays golf less than an hour after making his "ISIL" speech. Disgusting.

It is made public, as a damage control strategy, it will be known sooner or later that such operation was made and the results were dramatic, so they have to be proactive about it, this is not the first time such operation were made and the result were presented in this way.
199  Other / Politics & Society / Re: China Tells USA: Keep Your Distance on: August 25, 2014, 04:14:41 PM
well the what the US are thinking is quite clear, they want to shift their geopolitical interests to south Asia and Chinese sea area from the middle east, but the big problem is that they are still tied up in the middle east due to shitstorm they created there, and the Ukraine crisis wasn't planned to last as long, as the US and allies thought that everything would end up with the Ukrainian revolution, yet that wasn't the case as Russia has a lot to lose.

Right now nothing is going according to plan for the US, the plan is clear but the execution is bad, and to be honest, even if the US spy planes are flying in international airspace it is clear what they are targeting and the antisubmarine aircraft was there to spy on the Major Chinese drills they are having in the area.
