1  Economy / Exchanges / Re: The "Best" fiat exchanges ? on: January 22, 2018, 02:58:05 PM
Sure folks have debated the merits of each exchange ad nausea but wanted to approach the topic on some of the key considerations. If you think an exchange is "Best" based on the criteria below, feel free to reply down below.

1. security/fund safety/etc: priority number one is safety of the funds...this excludes a number of exchanges such as bitfin where customer funds were hacked and not fully reimbursed; any new exchanges recently popped up with less than 3 months or preferably 12 months of operational history are suspect too, unless they are backed quasi-govt/fortune 500/insurance/bank etc

2. mobility: any exchanges such as some in Japan where only local residents can register does not fit this criteria. The exchange could be incorporated in singapore for example and operated out of japan, does not matter as long as they are open to residents of most countries without undue restrictions/KYC burden

3. liquidity: this will depends on the token, but the exchange should have decent depth at least for the major tokens (btc, eth, ltc, xrp, etc)

4. flexibility to convert back to fiat: coinbase is a major one (good or bad depending on each user's experience)...but are there any other good crypto-to-fiat exchanges other than coinbase? crypto-to-crypto exchanges unfortunately would not fit work.

5. low commission: not uber important not nonetheless the withdrawal fees and commissions can add up quickly for high volume traders

Just never never never use CEX.io
2  Economy / Exchanges / Victims of CEX.io, please leave your comments. on: January 22, 2018, 02:39:42 PM
My withdrawal still hasn't shown up in my bank after almost a month since it was marked "completed"... definitely abnormal.  Any other victims here with big withdrawal lost?  If there are a lot of people, we should join forces and bring up a class action against CEX.io

Also, other victims, please fill out these complaint forms to the FBI and CFPB.  https://complaint.ic3.gov/default.aspx?    https://www.consumerfinance.gov/complaint/getting-started/

I am sure if enough people voice out, the relevant authorities will investigate the matters.

3  Economy / Exchanges / Re: CEX.IO Withdrawal times - any experience? on: January 22, 2018, 02:31:11 PM
JUST FYI:

I have made a SWIFT request, and it has been more than one month since it was marked "completed" and the money still hasn't arrived....  So best of luck trusting them.

Seeing so many people complaining, victims should consider start a class action against CEX for lost money and time value lost. I am also in the process of filling out a complaint form to the FBI and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

I have made a bank withdrawal request on Dec 22 and marked as completed on Dev 27 after I sent an email to the support, and it has been another 2 weeks now, the money ($11566) still haven't arrived.  The customer support just said be patient without providing any evidence that they actually made the transfer request.   I happened to have worked in the banking industry and I know that SWIFT definitely does NOT take such a long time.

Kindly tell us your user ID or support ticket number to investigate the case.

Support ticket number is:  563850.   I still haven't received the withdrawal, it is almost a month.
Any luck  Huh

No. Still haven't received the money.  We should start a case action against the company.

It has been weeks since I have made my withdrawal request, and the my bank still hasn't received it.  CEX is a SCAM or what?

That's not true. I have working in banking. If a bank is suspicious about account activity, you will know.  The only explanation is they haven't made the transfer as they claimed.  And they have not provided any proof of remittance.  This is ridiculous.

Wait till you try to withdraw.  I have seen post about people complaining it takes forever to withdraw crypto as well.

CEX is a scam.  Customers won't be able to withdrawal funding...  It is just untrustworthy. Stay away from it

Not sure how you are related to CEX to give them such credibility?  I have done some search, seems I am definitely not alone, many users have complained that their withdrawal requests have been delayed without any news.
My bank has no record of any funding coming in.  Their customer support is slow and always reply with useless responses. As a common sense, even if receiving bank rejects, it WON'T take 2 WEEKS without any information.   Another possibility is they have misappropriated client funds, so it takes a long time for them to make that funding available (which is illegal).   SWIFT doesn't take 2 weeks!  They simply have lied about sending the fund and they have not provided the remittance proof.

Anyways, I will suggest anyone considering using CEX to think twice.
