301  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Generate new addresses?? 0.9.1? on: April 22, 2014, 05:20:45 AM
thanks all i have been struggling with an issue..as a friend was helping me partition a hard drive on my comp he deleted my entire ubuntu operating system which held my qt wallet..i never backed up my wallet.dat equivalent on linux and i always thought wallet passphrase was == priv key...in an attempt to recover my coins i tried importing them to blockchain.infos wallet however i noticed that when i input "wallet passphrase" in the import priv key option it kept saying unknown formatt ...so with the recent light shed on the diff between priv key and wallet passphrase..i can come to a conclusion that my bitcoin are lost forever? Huh Huh
thank you all again in advance for your input and help..
You could try to recover your private keys from the formatted disk. As long as the wallet.dat has not been written over there's a chance for it to work. You just need a recovery tool, and hope for the best. There's a high risk that it doesn't work though. But it could be worth a shot if you had much money in it.
302  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: version 0.9.1 wont sync on: April 21, 2014, 06:11:07 PM
Delete the blockchain and let it download again, and it should work just fine! (make sure you don't delete your wallet.dat by accident though!)
303  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Generate new addresses?? 0.9.1? on: April 21, 2014, 06:05:57 PM
hey thank you all for clearing that up...however i thought wallet passphrase == priv key??!? no? Huh Huh
No, the private keys contains the proof your bitcoin is yours, and on your address. So wallet passphrase and private keys are not the same thing at all. The password is just the key to unlock your wallet.
304  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Clamwin False positives? on: April 21, 2014, 05:59:53 PM
These are false-positive. Many people have recently been reporting that. Nothing to worry about, just add an exception! Smiley
Here's an older thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=557370.0
305  Other / Off-topic / Re: [NSFW] THIS is hilarious! on: April 21, 2014, 05:54:51 PM
this kind of stuff is allowed in this forum?? cannot belive it ..
this forum has such strict rules for everything especially for newbies...
so how can they allows such stuff

Shocked Shocked Shocked Huh Huh Huh
The "strict" rules are not about moral and stuff. They only say you have to wait 360 seconds between each post. Not that "strict" imo.
Newbies can also post NSFW stuff you know! Cheesy
And if you don't wanna see it, don't click on anything that says "NSFW"! Smiley
306  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Generate new addresses?? 0.9.1? on: April 21, 2014, 05:49:28 PM
Wait, do you want to create a new address? Then you don't have to post the private keys or something like that you know!
But shouldn't there be an option like "Add" or "Create new address" in the "Receive" tab?
307  Other / Off-topic / Re: Another Reason Why I Don't Use Hotmail Anymore on: April 21, 2014, 05:46:11 PM
Hotmail is mainly used by homosexuals as per statistics

I am using outlook its great
IMO outlook sucks. When you log in it can take minutes before you can even open the mails, or well, do anything at all.
I'm not a fan of using google stuff either, but at least Gmail doesn't take minutes to work.

BTW, as hilariousandco said, the security problem was probably on your end, not on Microsofts.
308  Other / Off-topic / Re: Best place to build the Bitcoin island in the international waters on: April 21, 2014, 05:40:59 PM
Why would you want to live in a country created by someone who titles himself the emperor?  A country with a police force, a country with an army, a country with greed and a closed mindedness to concepts of unity and love?

Sounds just like today's society.
Sounds like you want to join a collective or something! Why don't you do that?
309  Economy / Speculation / Re: $10,000 when? on: April 21, 2014, 05:36:31 PM
Not in this year.
Why do you think that? A year ago 1000$ was completely unthinkable, still it happened in November!
You can never know in the world of bitcoins! Wink
310  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can I burn my wallet on a DVD? on: April 20, 2014, 11:15:14 PM
I dont think you can burn a wallet on DVD, its why bitcoin qt exist right.
No, bitcoin core is the client. The private keys (the money) is stored in the wallet. The wallet you can back-up wherever you want, even on a DVD.
311  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why are Asian women so hot? on: April 20, 2014, 11:05:19 PM
This map looks so wrong in many aspecs, A-B Cup in whole Africa, over D In Russia and nordic countries and US I call this FUD lol . did they do the study for a specific age or something?

As I have already stated, this map was only prepared as a joke. There is no truth in it. By no means Nordic women can have bigger jugs compared to the African girls. I got the map from here:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/04/26/big-boob-map-biggest-boobs-world-breast-size_n_1456565.html

Yeah it is more likely a joke of some sort ^^
Well, I don't know guys, as a swede I can confirm that very many girls over here has kinda big boobs…
Anyway, what I want to know is (let us pretend it's not fake), how did they measure this? Cheesy
312  Economy / Speculation / Re: $10,000 when? on: April 20, 2014, 11:00:09 PM
I don't think we will ever break 4 digits unless these things happen:

1. A go-to person if something happens. Right now, it seems bitcoins best tech support is reddit and google. People, especially the more non-technical people, if they have a problem they want to talk to a person. I know this defeats the purpose of decentralization but face it, it needs to happen.

2. Higher difficulty. At first you guys are thinking what? I know, let me explain. If there is a higher difficulty, there is less chance that a 51% attack can occur, and thus double spending, forks, etc. If we can get a higher difficulty, to make the chances of a 51% attack basically 0, more merchants can adopt zero confirm transactions, or at the very most 1. 6 will seem like set in stone basically.

3. Goverment/legal support. Bitcoins, if ever wants to become a valid payment method, needs to comply with governments. If it wants to be international, that's going to take some work. Considering how long it takes for an international effort to happen, I seriously doubt that Bitcoin will be a legal globally accepted way to pay. if we can get the majority, say the US, China (big one right here), and most of Europe we should be okay.

4. MORE ATMS - ATMS > Adoption Rate > Liquidty > Market Stabiliation > Etc....

That's all I got from the top of my head if your looking for a numerical estimate? I'd say like 7-15 years.

Don't worry mate, we're still in beta! Smiley
I think we'll get to see prices waaaaaay higher eventually! Cheesy
313  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can I burn my wallet on a DVD? on: April 20, 2014, 10:49:49 PM
this wallet will still need to sync, except that since the last synchronization immediately used your money
No, the client needs syncing. The wallet contains the private keys and does not need syncing.

315  Economy / Services / Re: ★★★ HIGHEST SIGNATURE PAYMENT ON THE BOARD - NEW RATES - RitzGrandCasino.com ★★★ on: April 20, 2014, 10:01:14 AM
everyone above is confirmed.
Payments happen on the 1st of the month for the previous month. Unlike other programs, we pay you all on time every time.
We will even give you the Time you can expect to be paid by!!!
No need to enrol  every month, as it is all automatic. We always do check on posts and signatures etc. So anyone trying to scam will be caught.

The big switch is on to
Ritz signature program..
So I will not have to post my post count again?
Well, that's convenient! Tongue
316  Other / Off-topic / Re: Best place to build the Bitcoin island in the international waters on: April 20, 2014, 09:59:22 AM
Does bitcoin island comes with bitcoin prison and bitcoin army?

Yes.There will be a police force, to enforce the law and order, as well as an army to protect you from the outside invasion. But I want to assure you that the Police force will be 100% professional, and well mannered.  Grin
Couldn't the islanders themselves be the guards? Would save some money to!
317  Economy / Services / Re: I will pay you 0.01 a week for listening my music on SPOTIFY on: April 20, 2014, 09:51:58 AM
Would do this myself, but there's so much registering to do first. :/
It's just Spotify and last.fm! It's not that much, lol! Smiley
318  Other / Off-topic / Re: Best place to build the Bitcoin island in the international waters on: April 19, 2014, 01:42:57 PM
Those music festivals is irrelevant to the topic. I wish you make this thread self moderated to delete those unwanted replies.
Nah, then it would not come up with new ideas, and not be as entertaining to read! Wink

Btw, can I reserve a few shares on the coast of the island? Tongue
319  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bir Tawil nation on: April 19, 2014, 01:38:46 PM
that is true hm

in the beginning we would probably have to use some communist-like society until we stabilise

well, that's a problem but people who agree to join will join on their own, no one will push them Smiley

not being able to leave would be a great motivation for survival too Cheesy

lots of people would do it for the fame Cheesy
Yeah, I think that's the best to start with. When the population and the colony have grown and they can start doing non-survival things it can go capitalistic or something.

People that does it for fame are usually not capable of seeing long term consequences of their actions, and they are not often willing to work hard for their survival either… So those are probably not the best candidates for this colonization project…
Damn... seems like we have some competition:
