221  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Newest Diff thread April 5 to April 18th on: April 19, 2015, 02:29:37 PM
Shapeshift looks good at the moment.

FINAL LIST OF ENTRIES FOR THE 0.1 BTC REWARD

New entries are not accepted anymore but speculation is welcome.

Please take a minute to find your name in the list and verify the numbers. Let me know if you see anything wrong.

The pack is tight this time (rollover less likely) and BitcoinWisdom shows -1.67% trending a bit higher.

Thank you for participating.

So you show the 240 volt numbers with the Intel server psu, please show us the 120 volt numbers.

Nasty is definitely a good word for it.  Even with negative the difficulty before this one will hurt.

We're all horribly spoiled  Grin

Double-digit increases were the norm not too long ago. Although BTC at $600+ helped of course.

also new gear with big power drops.

300 watt gpu's gave .6 gh
10   watt asics  gave 1 gh     a 50 to 1 improvement
2     watt  asics  gave 1 gh    a 5 to 1 improvement
1      watt asics gave  1 gh    a 2 to  1 improvement
.8     watt  asics gave  1gh     a 1,25 to 1 ratio--------------- btc price drop
.5     watt  asics  gave 1gh     a  1.6 to 1 improvement -----  btc price drop

Next  Huh

well gl all this block has killed me getting hot in AZ just sold all my miners may rent some hash if we ever complete this block but most likely just chalking up as loss  Cry Cry 450.00 in electricity and 5 btc in rentals no return sell miners for 1600.00 and call it a wash

That sounds painful man, hopefully this really does turn over soon and we knock a couple over quick.

spring is coming very soon (as I look out and see a 5 inch snowstorm here in NJ)

maybe in honer of spring we get back to back blocks.

The March equinox happens at the same moment across the world but is converted to local time. In 2015, it falls on March 20 at 6:45 P.M. EDT, 5:45 P.M. CDT, 4:45 P.M. MDT, and 3:45 P.M. PDT, for example.

so in 2 hours and change spring arrives.  I see these two blocks popping up within the next 36 hours. This can be a god send for us.

PERSEPHONE  please bail us out here.

To those that don't know she is the greek goddess of spring and for all us miners she is married to the Hades the god of the underworld.
I believe this will turn the tide very soon.

If she fails I will have to switch alliance to Dionysus   the greek god of wine and drown my sorrows with a bottle of wine tonight.

A toast to Dionysus!

Yeah a nice bottle of cab was finished off last night.  I am on my other pc thus I am using this account.  Philipma1957

229  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: How much BTUs does an Air Conditioner Require per KW of miners? on: March 22, 2015, 01:11:59 PM
Just preparing for the summer. Wondering what the typical BTUs are required per KW of miners.

Will a 10000 BTU airconditioner be fine for a 1000 Watt miner?

Share some input.

a watt is about 4 btu's

http://www.rapidtables.com/convert/power/Watt_to_BTU.htm

I round up it is more like 3.412.  so  you are putting out 3412 btu with that miner.

so you should be able to cool the room down with a 10000 btu ac.

unless you have cheap power it is very costly to ac a miner
230  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: I will be reviewing a new server psu+ breakout board. a few photos on: March 14, 2015, 04:00:08 PM
Another nice addition you did.  Will be interesting to see.  Would love to see it beat the plat. psu.  But I'm guessing in gold range.

the plat evga p2 1600 uses 739 watts the hp 1000 watt server used  809 watts.

this was on a 20 amp 120 volt circuit only 1  socket on the line and 10 gauge 20 amp about 3 or 4 feet from the breaker.

I need to check this as 739 vs 809 is a lot it is about 70 x 24 = 1.68 kwatts a day or at my rates of 13 cents 21.8 cents a day more money.

now I switched it out with a evga 1300 g2 running a sp20e  I was using 801 watts running the evga it is using 835 watts running the hp  now that is 34 x 24 =  that is .816 kwatts a day extra or 10.61 cents a day
231  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Unofficial Spondoolies SP20 thread on: March 14, 2015, 03:52:25 PM
I'm trying to restore my SP20E's firmware using the SD recovery method. How long is the process supposed to take? I'm supposed to wait until the green and yellow LEDs stop flashing back and forth right?

Edit: Never mind, got it fixed. Flashing indicates that the operation is complete.

I waited for 15 minutes (to be sure) with no luck. The budu dancing didn't work either.  Cry

Did you follow the instructions exactly?

Code:
Instructions for SPXX miner recovery
1) Insert the sd card to the sd slot in front of the miner machine
SP10 - with the metal connector facing upwards.
SP2x - with the metal connector facing upwards.
SP3x - with metal connector facing down.
2) Remove the power cord for 15 seconds and put it back in (especially important for SP35).
3) Wait for 2 minutes (*both* lights in front of the machine will start to turn on/off *alternately* in a Christmas Tree like fasion -Green ... Yellow ... Green... Yellow... Green... Yellow... ............. ).
4) Remove the sd-card from the miner
5) Disconnect the power cord for 15 seconds and put it back in.
6) Once the system is up, do SW upgrade from the webUI and update your wallet and the pool.

The only thing I did differently besides using a higher quality SD card this time, was removing the SD card before powering the SP20 down for 15 seconds.

they can be flakey at times. the waiting time matters and the better  micro sd card helps
232  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Feb 22 to March 9 diff thread with contest included. on: March 05, 2015, 07:17:12 PM
Yes I am surprised its only at 3%, with the increase in price I assumed it would jump 10% or so.
Well the price has dropped back from a peak of $288 to $270 now.

yep and many will just flip a switch.  I can go from 0 to 12th in 2 minutes.  Back down to 0 in 20 seconds.  Many others can do the same.

The s-3's  can do on to off in under 20 seconds and back on in 2  minutes.

There were over 50ph in s-3's sold this gear is marginal at 11 cents a kwatt and 265 usd a coin it makes 8 bucks in a month.

My guess is a lot of people turn s-3's on and off depending on price.

Would you really do that depending on price? I mean it only matters if and when you need to exchange BTC to fiat to pay the power bill, not when you mine those coins. So if I'm paying monthly, and my bill exceeds revenue for the last month and I don't see it getting better next month then I might consider switching it off.

Another consideration is resale value, I might want to switch it off sooner and dump it on eBay and replace it with better hardware if the numbers add up.

On small scale I think a lot of us just mine even at a tiny loss.  Bigger companies  may have 100 s-3's or 1000 s-3's and 100 or 1000 s-5's

Just mine the s-5's 24/7  and turn the s-3's on and off.

A few days back  both nice hash and west hash were paying 0.0115 and coins were 280.  now you are at 0.0103 and coins are 265. that is a big drop off .

Flick a switch and don't mine your s-3's .

I am not saying it as a reality but as a dollar and cents profit or loss it works.  I could see 1-2ph getting turned off based on the 2 drops above.

Hi,

Here are some suggestions to get more lucks:

Change your website font color to red
Change your favicon to red.
Wear red underwears or panties all day long and don't change for a week (the smellier the underwear the luckier you will get)
I heard that only works at Bitminter Wink

300% fucking brutal.
Some of the guys at CK.solo are trying to hunt down a few virgins of some kind.

I have 1 s-5 1 avalon 4.1 and 4 usb sticks at that solo pool.

My wife and I are having skirt steak in a slow cook red tomato sauce with kale pepper and onions on a bed of brown rice.
For dessert will are having Tapioca pudding with imported Peruvian Chocolate powder and topped with home made vanilla ice cream.  I am opening some Cabernet  Sauvignon.

I am not looking at any results on kanos pool until midnight.

@ kano it is brutal only when you rent hash.  (philima1957 is my name at your pool) and I decided to spend 5 or 6 btc renting 100-130th the last 2 days.

238  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Renting office space with included utilities (electric, cooling) for mining on: February 20, 2015, 11:39:41 PM
I'm sure someone has already tried renting an office that had utilities included to set up a mining operation.  I wanted to see what issues you ran into and how long it took for the landlord to catch on.

I was thinking a 15 unit 1.7T per operation (running ~1.1T at ~900W per).  Free electricity and cooling for $220 a month office lease (~165 sqft).  Would have to provide own internet connection ~40 a month for a total of $260 per month.

At current difficulty/price I am looking at a >$1000 a month profit and an 8 month ROI.

Anyone have any insight/thoughts?

Well you are looking at a theft of services charge in the USA.

Now less then 1 mile from my house a guy rented a home and grew 100 pot plants in it.  He got caught as  his power bill went from 100 to 1000 a month and he decided to wire to the power-line and was caught.  I think the 100 to 1000 a month  down to 100 a month was how the police found him out.

Instead of  asking for an opinion or insight  about my story. I will ask ?  it is true do you believe me or not.

The last 10 blocks add up to 504%  or a 50.4% average. That is a  very nice streak.
