1  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 01, 2014, 01:34:12 AM
Don't mean to break up the party but I like to read this thread so I will just post here…

Bitcoin value listed on top 10 Yahoo trending news stories.  It's the first time I've seen this even through the latest bubble.  I read Yahoo news a bunch.

Happy New Year all!  Hope 2014 is a good one for us!!
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Peercoin and Namecoin prices on: January 01, 2014, 12:07:48 AM
I am interested in speculating on some CC other than LTC and BTC.  Comparing the price action of namecoin and peercoin during the last bubble I have some questions.  I took a screenshot of prices when bit coin was $1180 Gox….

LTC-41.40
PPC-4.50
NMC-17.24

Now look at today

BTC-813.00
LTC-23.61
PPC-4.93
NMC-5.5

What caused the large increase in price for namecoin?  Also, I noticed that PPC was almost the same price as it is today?  Can someone explain to me the movements and which one has the best chance to return a profit for me?  I believe in BTC but like I said this is a pure speculation bet.

For me, those two facts are signals that this downtrend is coming to an end, thoughts?  Wink

We will go below the long-term exponential trend, which is now at $450, and spend a long time there.

Although the trend rises fast (double every 99 days), I have a full conviction that we will go below $500 again, likely $400, unlikely $300.

Of course the capitulation can only come after "everybody" has bought back in, so please do as you wish Smiley I am prepared to wait until March. If it happens next week I am all good, but then the price will again go up, and there will be yet another crash later, before we resume uptrend.

I always like to see what you have to say and I am pretty impressed by your call on the last dip and bounce.  What is your take on the bear chart on the other thread in regards to coin days lost?
4  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: HOW TO FILE A PROPER LEGAL COMPLAINT AGAINST COINBASE.COM on: December 21, 2013, 11:56:25 PM
Everyone, just chargeback all transactions with your bank or credit card with coinbase. that is the only way to get compensation from these thieves.  Your bank is your friend. they will get you your money back. Just tell them you didn't spend this money or something or wait forever for some kind of lawsuit, who knows how that will work if it even happens.

Filed the complaint with the bank.  They are going to front me the money and the investigation could take up to 45 days.  Have 2 bank accounts that I will have to do that with.  Not cool.  If they would just send a reply to let us know they are working the issues then at least I would feel better about it.  They need to fix themselves!

They did the same thing to me... very similar.  They also profited almost 50k at another person's expense.  Here is just one of the many threads:

Did they cancel your transaction and you lost profit, or is your money completely gone? As of right now I have no clue what happened to my money except that coinbase.com has it and is not responding to any correspondence.

Another victim of coin base scam.  I really hope they get this all figured out.  I've had several orders canceled and the funds returned.  OK very frustrating when you lose profit due to increase price.  However, I have two cases open that are really making me nervous.  One purchase was returned because I was using savings account which won't work - almost 2 weeks later the funds disappear from a different account that I had one file when I first signed on!  That money hasn't been returned and I don't have any BTC to show for it.  $2400.00 in limbo.
Another purchased returned to the savings account but then withdrew again!  Same thing, no BTC to show for.  $1700.00
I got a reply to my first case that it was being forwarded for action.
This is the worst custom service I have ever had to deal with.  Holding money and not delivering a product?!  Seriously how do they get away with that shit?
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's future is clear to those who study technology's history on: November 27, 2013, 06:43:42 PM
That is a great post, thanks!  I believe I crossed the "Chasm" following the US Senate Committee meeting regarding crypto currency.  I've been trying to convince others are there are a lot of skeptics!  I'm not sure that we want this to grow too large too soon but it will be nice when more people begin to realize BTC's potential and future.

Trade that thing for a LTC now.  I'm waiting on another of my BTC to arrive to get me some more.   LTC is leaving the station get onboard.

8  Economy / Economics / Altcoins providing liquidity on: November 26, 2013, 09:05:23 PM
Does anyone else think that the increased rise of altcoin trading has provided some liquidity for BTC?  This is a good thing since transaction aren't happening yet on numerous purchases globally.  This should help stabilize the price which will encourage more vendors to acept BTC.  Seems like it was almost planned.

I assume that there are people with large stacks of coins selling those off to pay for their new car, bills, housing etc.  I did hear about a BTC millionaire in NYC that invested into a swanky bar that accepts BTC for payment.  That is great, but those people need to have a voice.  There needs to a stronger movement by all to get this to go mainstream.  I do think the rising price will affect how people look at BTC but given the finite amount of coins that will never change IMO.

One thing that I don't like are all of the copycat alt coins.  Is there a way BTC can get patents to prevent the spread of alt coins?

Hi all,
I first heard about Bitcoin this past summer when the price was around $120.00.  I briefly looked into it and thought it was kind of a novelty that wasn't worth spending too much time on (big mistake).

The big change for me happened last week before the big run up.  I heard that a Senate Committee would have a hearing in regards to digital currency.  I picked up some BTC leading up to that just in case it was good news.  After watching that meeting I knew BTC wasn't just a novelty and would really be something big!  I have picked up several more BTC as well as some LTC and have been reading the news/forum almost obsessively.  I'm on this boat and although looking back I wish I paid attention this summer but still think the value of this technology will greatly exceed my expectations in the future.

One concern for me:

Are the early adapters who have already made a significant return on their investment going to help the cause by putting back into it?  I believe that hoarding or selfishness may lead to the demise of bitcoin's future.  I just don't see enough of the bitcoin millionaires opening up shops and spreading the word.  This needs to happen in order for this thing to grow.

Look forward to the future!
