1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ETF on: August 06, 2018, 02:01:36 PM
I'm inclined to believe that the ETF will not be approved. Bitcoin is still not "mainstream" available.
Unlike a bank account, you take more risk to buy, hold, move or spend Bitcoin. There are endless hackers stealing, manipulation, and vague tax code (intentional).
There is one Bitcoin trust but why only one? there should be many by now, other cryptos too.
The technology is moving fast and I make my living in the Blockchain space but we are a long way out.
I think the haters of Bitcoin, banks and governments have not yet begun to fight.

2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 50K+ budget, Suggestions? on: July 22, 2018, 12:16:43 PM
With that budget I think I would get a Blackbox (16 FPGA system). https://blackbox.cat/collections/frontpage/products/blackbox-x16-bcu1525-fpga-system-with-16x-xilinx-bcu1525-fgpas-august-batch  --- It's probably the most "future proof" option for mining right now, provided that you have a higher then average technical aptitude (which I presume you do).

I'm not the tech guy but I have them to assist when needed. There is not enough info out there to make an informed decision on  FPGA (any other links would be great to help) If it panned out I could get one but that's betting the farm ( pun intended Smiley ) on 1 machine. Definitely on my high watch list, just more info needed.

Would prefer to have a US based solution, found some good possibilities out of Canada but the tax to buy at 15% makes it almost undoable. The machines are in my business so I write off the purchase so a 1 year ROI is great, 2 years ok.

Thanks!

Thanks for all the suggestions! My leanings are toward taking multiple positions and dollar cost averaging to what I have now. I can wait till the right time to sell but I tend to HODL.

Staying in cash for a bit but I do think a long term bull market is building up steam. Bitcoin is going to have a lot of wall street activity and positions will need to be long in order for them to play. The 21 mil ceiling makes it the the most explosive for me. I like about 10 coins enough to take positions.

The problems are Bitman and the competition, what's coming next? when, any good predictor time tables/web sites?

May be best to deposit cash in USD, slow dollar cost average into may favs, then wait for the next ASIC, order on 1st sec available.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Calm before the storm. Crypto value run coming? on: July 21, 2018, 04:38:37 PM
Is the the calm before the storm? Can't help but feel right now mining and hodling will pay off in a big way.
More and more resources are plowing into the space trying to solve problems at every level, regulations for the most part are in favor of crypto. Possible ETF's coming. trading desks at big firms, on and on.
The last 6 months seem like a flat line after such a rush on the bull run.
Seems like we are in a groundhog day mode of the few years before the big run year of 2017.

Just a few things have to take place to blast off the space....ETF? Great Application? Easy to buy for non techies? A wallet my Grandpa can understand? Use? IRA that is a self directed crypto version?

I think all these things are going to happen. With limited size circulation cryptos, say 21 mil to 250 mil, these coins could really explode in value.

Is there something I'm not seeing that can stop this train?
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / 50K+ budget, Suggestions? on: July 21, 2018, 04:17:26 PM
I've posted in other areas for overall general suggestions but as one that wants to mine.....Have just a few machines now on ETH

I have the space, the power, more funds if needed, so the question:

Right now I have about 50-65k to put in what would you buy now ??

No need to sell for a year so can mine and HODL

suggestions?
6  Other / Beginners & Help / recommendations with what to do with 50k? on: July 21, 2018, 04:09:52 PM
Looking for some suggestions, I have about 6 machines mining ETH, doing not much all 580's, 570's

I'm getting a good bit of capital that I have to pay back but I want to put it to work in crypto, I have a warehouse that I thought I'd fill with miners but now I'm not sure with the ASIC miners and difficulty levels, it looks like mining days may be numbered. So what to do.....

I have access to more money...thought to get 10 A9's but my price is $6,900 USD ea.

Other thought is to buy bitcoin and a few favorites and HODL However this would put me away from mining that I'm trying to build.

So suggestions?
7  Economy / Trading Discussion / I'm unclear on the law or don't understand it when it comes to mining or trading on: June 16, 2018, 10:28:24 PM
After reading the news releases on people being put in jail for violations of "Money Services Business" law....I have questions

Can I mine bitcoin? (on the US government site it says it is a violation of MSB law)

Can I receive commission for introducing buyers and sellers of bitcoin - in Bitcoin ? ( Coinbase (or are they a MSB firm?) does this but I'm talking about very large Bitcoin amounts).

If Bitcoin and Ethereum are not securities then is everything else?

It look like the government is random is in it's enforcement of anything.

As a US citizen if I start a company in say Malta or Croatia I the company operates within that legal domain would I still be held liable for business that breaks US law? ( which seems to be anything you do that makes money is a violation of law unless you work for the government or a big company.

Any help or direction would be very helpful. Thanks!!
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Locations for mining, any feedback on power companies in North Georgia? on: January 26, 2018, 03:57:03 PM
I'm scouting for a new location for mining and wanted to see if anyone has any feedback as far as lowest rate or service or anything else in the North Ga area?

Jackson EMC, Georgia Power, or any other company. There are a few there....Any experience shared would be great. This is commercial space, 3 phase power.

The rates sheets are tough to compare by design, just looking to cut the fog. Thanks!
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Riserless Mining Motherboards the death of PCIE risers? Mining Rig Tear Down! on: January 26, 2018, 03:50:15 PM
Question: can these boards operate with spaces empty? say with 4 cards? Different versions of 580's ok?

Would think so but I haven't seen it covered yet. Thanks!
