1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Asus Z270-A vs GIGABYTE GA-B250 vs ASRock H110 Pro BTC+ vs ASUS B250 Mining? on: March 19, 2018, 10:51:28 PM
Hello out of the four motherboard options:

Which is the better motherboard to use and why?

I just want to be able to run 12 graphic cards on one motherboard without crashes or downtime and ease of use. Whichever can help me maintain that, that's what I will buy. If any of you have had experience with any of these 4 motherboards please share your experience.

I already have an Asus Prime Z270-A and like it, but I was hoping to use something like the Gigabyte GA-250-Fintech since it's new and has 12 pcie slots so I don't need to use things like 1 to 4 pcie extensions or m.2 to pcie
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GTX 1080 vs 1070 Ti for Equihash (Zclassic)? Is the GTX 1080 really the best wat on: February 15, 2018, 09:21:28 AM
I personally would go for the 1080. For the same hash you need 1 GPU less.
So its more 11 x 1080 or 12 x 1070ti.
With 1080 you can add 1 more GPU later without buying Mainboard, PSU and so on.
With 1070ti you can mine some other coins too.
But you asked for ZEC so my advise is the 1080.

Thanks for your way of thinking and going about it. I didn't think of it like that.

So I plan on going with a gtx 1080, now my problem is that I have this power supply:

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817194132

It's a enermax maxtytan 1250 watt power supply and only came with individual pcie 6+2 pcie cables:

Because of these pcie cables I guess I'll need to use 2 pcie slots from the PSU per each card since gtx 1080s have 2x8 pin connectors right?

Does anyone know where I can buy pcie cables that will allow me to attach two 6+2/8pin connectors per pcie cable that will be compatible for this power supply?
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / GTX 1080 vs 1070 Ti for Equihash (Zclassic)? Is the GTX 1080 really the best wat on: February 15, 2018, 06:07:26 AM
I'm trying to decide if I should buy 12 GTX 1080s or 12 GTX 1070 Tis.

I have no experience with either personally, I only have used AMD cards for eth.

So I'm asking you guys out there who have experience with either GTX 1080 and or 1070 Tis mining Equihash and can tell me if whattomine.com is accurate.

12x GTX 1080 Ti - $43.12 profit a day - 8220 Hashrate - Equihash - Zclassic @ 2280 watts - 52.87 watts per $

12x GTX 1080    - $35.86 profit a day - 6600 Hashrate - Equihash - Zclassic @ 1560 watts - 43.50 watts per $

12x GTX 1070 Ti - $30.21 profit a day - 5640 Hashrate - Equihash - Zclassic @ 1440 watts - 47.66 watts per $

12x GTX 1070    - $27.61 profit a day - 5160 Hashrate - Equihash - Zclassic @ 1440 watts - 52.15 watts per $

12x GTX 1060    - $16.54 profit a day - 3240 Hashrate - Equihash - Zclassic @ 1080 watts - 65.29 watts per $

So based on your guys experience when using any of these cards and mining Equihash, can you guys say whattomine.com is saying is accurate?

Is the GTX 1080 really the best watt per dollar card right now?

mines are vertical too but I have placed them on the outside of the rig so that the air sucked from fans is not taking warm air from the backplate of another gpu, This way I keep temps between 45 and 55°C.

bigdigtaker: that's exactly the setup I have

that's really cool, do you mind showing a picture of your rig? I'm interested in seeing it

Wouldn't it be better if you had the fans facing against open area.  For example you have the fans facing outwards in all directions of the case?  Because the fans suck air into the card and blow them from out the sides of the heatsink

Something like this:
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Is the windows 10 registry tweak batch file from jsanzsp safe? on: January 27, 2018, 11:14:47 AM
Was following mining.help 's guide, wondering if the batch file by author, "jsanzsp" to optimize windows 10 installation is safe

The batch file for windows 10 registry tweak/optimization in question by jsanzsp can be found here

7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best hashrate card per watt for Eth? on: January 27, 2018, 11:06:11 AM
good is it GTX 1070 ti

I'm not sure what you're saying?  Are you saying that the 1070 tis are the best in terms of hashrate/watt ratio?  Even better than the 1070?
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Best hashrate card per watt for Eth? on: January 26, 2018, 05:00:46 PM
Hello, I've been wondering what the best hashrate per watt is for mining eth after tweaking the cards.

My options are evga 1060 6gbs, 1070s or 1070 tis. I'm not interested in total hashrate but hashrate to watt ratio in either 6 or 12 rig configuration

OverDriveNtool will undervolt and that is a good guide to follow but it doesn't mention the power limit. You also can try setting the power target % in OverDriveNtool to 85-90, which should reduce power consumption a bit. The power usage when dual mining also depends on the algorithm and dual mining intensity -dcri setting in Claymore.

I get this error: Failed to set Power parameters (ErrorCode: -1) everytime i try to set the power target % to 85-90

The higher GPU power in GPU-Z is the right value, which is the same as the HwInfo GPU chip power + ~50 W for the riser. For a RX 570 without an undervolt, ~150-160 W is about right. You can also lower the power consumption by reducing the power limit to ~-15%, if it's stable.

Oh

I was under the impression that I did undervolt though, at least with overdriveNtool(?)

Or did I not do that?

I pretty much followed this guide https://mining.help/ to do that and I thought I was undervolting, I guess I was not then?
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can someone help tell me how much wattage my rx 570 is using? HWinfo screenshot on: January 20, 2018, 02:13:53 PM
The GPU core power shown + 40-50 W for the PCI-E slot power on the riser (not shown) is your total power. Your miner gets new work from the pool and you send the completed work back as shares. The lower difficulty the shares, the more frequently your miner completes the work and sends the shares back to the pool. A higher difficulty share takes longer to complete, but is worth more than a lower difficulty share e.g. At diff 4000 shares are worth twice as much as diff 2000 shares.

Thank you so much for responding.  So based on what you said, GPU Core + 40-50 I'm pulling about 120-130 watts when that screenshot was taken? Is it just me or does that seem kind of low for dual mining on a rx 570? What about the other sections with watts displayed?

Like "GPU Chip Power"

Or in GPU-Z's "GP only power draw", "VDDC Power draw", "VDCI Power draw"?  Do I just ignore these?  And do my VDCC Power draw, VDCI power draw seem high?  I was comparing them with someone else's setup with the same cards as me (msi armor) and he has stats like these:

1100core 2005mem 837v 1425 Straps 28.7xxmhs
GpuZ readings:
GPU Only power draw: 71.3
VDDC Power draw: 32.8
VDDCI Power draw: 12.4

mine seem incredibly high in comparison

Can someone help tell me how much wattage my rx 570 is using? I'm confused by HWinfo's "GPU Core Power" and "GPU Chip Power" do I combine these values for my wattage per card?

Also in my miner, why does it keep saying I'm constantly getting new jobs? Is that normal?
