1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Pricing for P10x series on: April 12, 2019, 03:20:47 AM
I was looking to start mining again but had some questions.
Can anyone help me with pricing for used zotac p104-100 and used p106-100? Thank you!

OCTOMINER here.
We have done some P104 and P106 deals recently. A few weeks ago, before the last pump. We were selling P104 at around 135USD per GPU(BULK), right now the pump has pushed the GPU prices up a bit and they are more expensive.

thank you! I do not think I can buy in bulk so it will probably be higher than $135 for me. Can you tell me how much you sold p106 for?

P106 3GB 5K PCS. 29USD a piece.

3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best GPU purchase Efficiency 04.2019 on: April 09, 2019, 08:03:02 AM
Currently for new GPUs, best ROI is still with RX570/580 8GB that can be bought bulk for around 110USD per GPU depending on the quantity.  This is what the majority of our BIG BULK (10k GPU or more) customers go for when ordering Octominer rigs.

Right now there are also very good deals for Nvidia P104 8GB GPUs, that perform very well on Ravencoin, Beam and Ethereum also. ROI is around 300 days at current prices at 5C electricity.

4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: way to use all 8GB VRAM which is half disabled on P104-100 card on: March 16, 2019, 06:12:36 AM
Yes, would be interesting to know if it's possible to unlock 10GB of memory on the P102 GPU?
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Octominer B8PLUS 8 PCIe Slot Mining Board (Motherboard, integrated CPU) on: March 15, 2019, 06:14:20 AM
Looks like my X9 board stopped working after 2 weeks. After reseating everything I get 4 beeps. I heard that was RAM so i ended up testing it with another ram stick but i still get the 4 beeps and nothing else

Hey!
Please shoot us an email and we will get you sorted out. Either our tech support team can help troubleshoot the board and get it working or we will send a replacement.
Thanks for the support! Smiley
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: The Best OS for Mining. on: February 04, 2019, 08:01:34 AM
HIVE OS for sure.
They have the biggest developer team and are constantly releasing updates and improvements.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: New mining era. on: February 04, 2019, 07:33:20 AM
Seems interesting. I wonder how viable it really is.
Website has so little info and loads of missing/broken links. Also, team is super tiny for supposedly such an innovative products.
I would not invest in it, seems mega risky with so little information and no proof.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hive OS - new Linux GPU mining platform on: February 02, 2019, 03:03:15 AM
Ok so I guess there's no more support here being I've asked a question and reported a problem in the last few days with no response along with the other people asking questions with no reply, It's making me regret telling other miners to use hiveos anytime there's a issue their on top of it

Hey! Give the HIVE OS guys some time, they are a stand up crew and work around the clock to improve the OS.
If you have some urgent questions, you can also try their Discord or Telegram room.
HIVE OS is THE BEST!  Cool
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How To Mine Grin Coin | Windows & Linux Mining Guide + What is GrinCoin anyway? on: January 17, 2019, 04:01:30 AM
Some crazy amounts of Grincoin mining going on all over the place.
Interesting to see what will develop of it.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 8-GPU rig in 4U rack case on: December 19, 2018, 11:04:57 AM
Does Bitnand offer international shipping? I like this 4U case.

Hey!
OCTOMINER here. We have 4U cases in stock also and we offer international shipping.
We also have a new 12 GPU rig that has a 1151 socketed CPU, it can take up to 6 core i7 CPUs. Usually people spec it with a G3930.
We actually manufacture our own hardware to improve the reliability and functionality. For example our OCTOMINER VENTUS fans in our cases are even more efficient than Delta fans. We put extra effort in to get the fans as efficient as possible, the use double thick PCB boards, thicker copper coiling and imported IC chips and Japanese NMB double ball bearings. This helps bring the power draw down lower per rig and will also improve the lifespan of the fans.

11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Octominer B8PLUS 8 PCIe Slot Mining Board (Motherboard, integrated CPU) on: November 19, 2018, 06:27:54 AM
Anybody know what is going on at Octominer?  They stopped responding to my emails about a week ago.  I was in the middle of getting some support from them on one of my boards where one slot stopped working.  Emails to sales@octominer.com and RMA@octominer.com are getting returned. Emails to info@octominer.com are getting received but I am not getting a response.

I'm a little concerned about putting in an order until I figure out what is going on.

Hey!
OCTOMINER here, it might be that there is a problem with the email server and our emails to you are not going through. For some reason we have been experiencing this issue in the last month with a few email addresses. Otherwise we have been available daily and our team has been actively replying all customer emails.
Please PM me your email address you have contacted us and your ORDER ID. I will have somebody look into the issue right now and get in touch with you.
Thank you.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: is it still profitable? How many rigs do the big boys still have... on: November 16, 2018, 08:52:58 AM
It's already over for the home miners, the only people making big profits are the giant farms with extremely low electricity.  It was fun while it lasted but I suggest selling off your GPUs before they become worthless.  Maybe if you have solar power or really cheap electricity you can continue mining but for most people it is not worth it anymore in the slightest.

I have to say, this was exactly the mantra back in 2012/2013. For real.

Yet here we are. I bet we will be hearing the same thing in 5 years, yet people will still be mining at home for a small profit.

It might have been the mantra but that doesn't make it incorrect. The GPUs used back in 2012/2013 would have been very inefficient compared to the newer ones available in 2016/2017 when home mining made its comeback.

Sure if you hung on to your gear from 2012/2013 you would have made some additional profits in 2016/2017, but you would have made more money by selling your gear off back in 2014 when it still had value and with that money either bought coins directly when they were cheap or invested in newer cards in early 2016 when mining started becoming profitable again. Mining is cyclic which seems to take 4-5 years to work through the entire boom/bust phase, well GPU technology and efficiency changes quite a bit in those 4 to 5 years to expect your old hardware to compete when the new cycle hits.

So yes in 5 years we will be hearing the same thing and people will be home mining, but they will be mining with new GPUs not even available yet that will outperform your current cards by 2-3 times. I also say sell them off now while they still may have some worth and either save the money for new cards in 1-2 more years, or better yet just buy some coins outright while they are cheap and just hang on for the next cycle.
selling gpus into a downturn is stupid af, the time to sell them was when there was a scarcity
its one thing if vega and 2000 series were say like double the power or efficiency but they barely push
20 percent better than polaris and 10x

better to hold

If the electricity price allows it for you then yes, it's better to HODL the gear also. Smiley
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: is it still profitable? How many rigs do the big boys still have... on: November 14, 2018, 01:53:07 AM
Octominer here. The big boys are still playing the big game. We supply big mining farms in USA and Canada with fully built GPU miners and ASICs. We are currently working on multiple 5MW+ projects, selling the new MicroBT M10(contact us for a great deal Grin) SHA-256 Bitcoin miners and AMD RX580 8GB based GPU miners. The really crucial part here is the cost of electricity, most of our bigger clients have 4-5 cent USD electricity. This is really important for large scale mining to make sure you will remain profitable when BTC price is down.
14  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain will be releasing S15 and T15 on 8/11/2018 on: November 07, 2018, 10:34:10 AM
S15
28TH/17TH
1596W/850W

T15
23TH/20TH
1541W/1200W

Any source for this info ? Smiley
How legit is it.
15  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain will be releasing S15 and T15 on 8/11/2018 on: November 07, 2018, 03:30:41 AM
Some leaked info  Grin

Hashrate =34TH
Price = 1200
power = 1500W

these information was giving to me by a Chinese friend who is an loyal customer of bitmain.  I can not confirm/deny but usually his leaks are accurate. let's find out in 2 days.

RIP S9s  Angry

I doubt the S15/T15 can get 34TH at 1500W. GMO has their 7nm chips out and their Miner B3 unit is 81W per T. A lot of the power efficiency and how well it performs comes down to chip design. We know that Bitmain is bleeding money and they lost most of their best engineers. If their ASIC really was as awesome as they claim it is, they would have released some real numbers on their "teaser" release. So the only thing really they could hype about is the 7nm technology. If their chips really did 45W per T, they would have bragged about it already. Just my 2 cents.

Do not pay attention to idiots who are saying mining is profitable, it requires you 5 seconds to see with your own eyes the truth, mining is dead at moment.

https://whattomine.com/coins

This is actually not true. We(OCTOMINER) work together with multiple big 1MW+, 10MW+ mining farms around the world and it all comes down to electricity price right now. Yes, profits are less than before but mining is till profitable.

Most of our big clients pay around 4-5 cents per KW/H for electricity and their current ROI calculations are around 10 months for ASIC and around 16 months for GPU at the current crypto prices. Once the bull run starts, these times will shorten and big investors realise this. We have first hand knowledge in this, since we supply mining hardware to some of the bigger mining farms in USA and Canada.

Right now there is a big wave of Antminer S9 replacing going on. New and more efficient SHA-256 miners are being launched and the big mining farms are currently replacing their S9's in the mass. They need to do this to stay profitable. Bitmain shipped around 3 million Antminer S9 units last year. We are working with the mining farms to get the S9 units replaced with newer and more efficient ASICs .

Indeed the truth is in the middle. 10 month for ASICs and 16 for GPUs are too optimistic times. The probability of decreasing Bitcoin price to 4000$ is still significant. It could be because of the news of government prohibitions or disagreement in crypto community.
I would calculate the mining investment return about 2 years (with new hardware, with used hardware it could be less by two times)

Yes, you are right.
10 month for ASICs and 16 for GPUs are a bit on the optimistic side,  I agree with that. 10 month for ASICs is with new and efficient units, OCTOMINER will have some big news coming out soon related to ASICs.
And big mining farms get pretty decent discounts usually for their hardware, have to factor this in also. Usual orders sizes are between 300-3000 OCTOMINER 8GPU rigs + GPUs for them, so around 2400-24000 GPUs. The ASIC orders can even go over 10 000 units per order for bigger mining farms in USA and Canada. We work directly with all the hardware manufacturers so we can get great deals that help optimise our clients ROI time. Smiley

18  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: SHA-256 Bitcoin ASIC hashrate verification? on: November 05, 2018, 07:01:34 AM
To be 100% sure,

1) Have device in hand

2) Mine to your own address (the manufacturer does not know) at a your choice of pool

3) Read all outgoing packets and ensure it's only sent to the selected pool. If there are packets sent to unknown places, the manufacturer could be receiving info on your pool/address and send some of their own hash to the same pool/address..

4) If hash rate at pool is up to spec, it can be considered verified.

Appreciate the info.
Whats the best way to read all the outgoing packets to ensure it's only sent to the selected pool?
19  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / SHA-256 Bitcoin ASIC hashrate verification? on: November 04, 2018, 08:42:18 AM
There is a new and efficient SHA-256 ASIC launching soon and the Octominer team will go to verify the existence and performance of said ASIC to see if it performs as promised.

Is there any way to fake an ASICs hashrate? For example if they run it on their own pool where they have modified some settings to spoof the hashrate or something similar.

How to make 100% sure that the miner is actually hashing at the shown hashrate?
20  Economy / Exchanges / Is Legacy Trust in Hong Kong a LEGIT company to use for big volume OTC trades? on: November 01, 2018, 03:13:37 PM
Looking for advice here.  Roll Eyes

Has anybody of you here ever used Legacy Trust in Hong Kong to facilitate large volume Bitcoin OTC trades?
