Any thoughts of how to raise the usb limit in linux above 99?

@IchibahnSLC

Yes hubs into hubs Smiley

I'm gonna have to build a linux box for these now. lol

Haha nice!

While you're at it, find out how to increase this usb limit! Smiley

hehe.

Here is an updated screenshot. I let them run for 5 hrs and only a few HW errors. This screenshot is after running only 15 min or so.

So I hit a USB limit in ubuntu... I have 120 gridseed 5-chip devices plugged into one linux box and getting this message: no more free ACM devices.

So having to use another box on the rest so just running 88 now. Here is the screenshot Smiley

They won't all fit on my screen.

So does anyone know how to increase this limit on linux?

Has anyone been able to get the cgminer 3.7.2 (for gridseed) to work in linux instead of windows like what is shown here? http://cryptomining-blog.com/1262-download-cgminer-3-7-2-for-windows-scrypt-mining-on-gridseed-5-chip-gc3355-asics/

Thanks.

Has anyone figured out how to run the cpuminer for gridseed 5-chip as a service? I don't like having tons of windows opened Smiley
89  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: The Official LighteningAsic/GridSeed 5 Chip Setup Guide by UnicornHasher on: March 06, 2014, 05:07:57 PM
running at 900mhz on cgminer for a few hours now.. really stable

getting about 385 kh/s

getting the same and more at 850MHz in cpuminer ... ;p

You can't monitor and/or use remote monitor for your farm using cpuminer. Huge limitation if you have a decent size farm.

So from the looks of the comments here http://cryptomining-blog.com/1262-download-cgminer-3-7-2-for-windows-scrypt-mining-on-gridseed-5-chip-gc3355-asics/#comments the STM etc.. isn't supported yet?

Also I tried this in linux and all the devices are shown and hashing but getting 100% reject and no shares are being offered.

I got it working with STM. Only downside was that when I was playing around with frequency, I had to disconnect and reconnect the units for CGminer to see them again.

What steps did you perform to get this working?

Thanks.

How do I revert back, as now I cannot seem to scrypt mine with the miner ony sha

EDIT: I reinstalled the STM virtual comport driver and back to mining scrypt. In Zadig I do not have the same options as shown in the how to dual mine link above. I do not see CP2102 USB to UART bridge control option listed there anywhere. I installed this driver and it still does not show up there

Manually change the driver in computer management or close zadig unplug the device and then re-install the gridseed drivers.

I have this same issue with the name not showing like in the screenshot.

I just need to rename it to CP2102 etc..?

VERY excited about the cgminer-gc3355!

Does this support multiple units? If so, what do I need to do different for windows and/or linux?

It seems they only have one miner working here: http://cryptomining-blog.com/1262-download-cgminer-3-7-2-for-windows-scrypt-mining-on-gridseed-5-chip-gc3355-asics/

Thanks!

I specifically ran only one miner vs 10 or 20 of them.  The default should be all devices.

I didn't get any shares returned on linux ;(

I think I'll wait on this one as everything is running stable right now...

Is there a special arg to pass when running more than 1?

I got 1 to run but not more than that for some reason.

Also, in windows, when trying to install the usb drivers using Zadig, I can see the usb devices in the list but they are not called CP2102 etc.. They are named STMicroelectronics Virtual COM Port. Therefore, when I install the WinUSB drivers, it shows to be installed but running cgminer says waiting for USB devices so it looks like they are not being found.

Have you guys experienced this?

Thanks.

So if you have 20 miners (2 usb hubs) you need to start 2 instances of minerd? but how?

Thanks!
97  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [GUIDE] GridSeed Miner Support/Tuning on: March 05, 2014, 03:23:20 PM
Update:

...
Mining Software:
- cpuminer-GC3355-win32-fixed for LTC only (low watt fixed)
- cpuminer-GC3355-win32-fixed-OC for LTC only (low watt fixed and OC support up to 1200mhz) (read)

...

Does this support multiple miners? 10 or 20 hooked to one windows machine (of course through a powered usb hub)?
98  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [GUIDE] GridSeed Miner Support/Tuning on: March 05, 2014, 04:50:58 AM
Is there anyway to measure the hash rate other then using the pool if you arent using the controller? Right now I am just using the cpuminer and it doesnt show any actual hash rate.

No. This is why I'm having a fit trying to unlock this controller so I can get things like this working.. I'm screwed after upgrading to 2.0.3. The've encrypted the root password..

Also, I tried the failsafe method but this didn't work. First of all, there is no indication that the controller is going into failsafe mode when performing the necessary steps for openwrt. Second, even when I'm guessing it's in failsafe mode I try to log in and it rejects my telnet session.. Third, I tried to capture udp packets coming from the controller but nothing was of use. OpenWRT (on some units) is supposed to send a certain packet when it is ready for the reset button to be pressed but I saw nothing and the lights never flashed like the guide said.

At this moment, these wiibox controllers are more locked than the lighteningasic ones (as far as I can tell).

Anyone with additional knowledge please help?

I know I could use Raspberry's but my shipments come with the openwrt controller so I'd like to get ssh'd back into it..

DON'T UPGRADE TO 2.0.3 unless you don't care about losing SSH access!

They are now encrypting passwords. You can see in the v2.0.3.zip. Look in /up/config/shadow :/

Does anyone happen to know this password or know of a way to boot in failsafe mode?

I'm stuck..
