Survey took less than a minute. Hope the info helps! Also hope I win some coin!

That's correct. I was talking about volatility with regard to the consumers. That being said, I still think it's a great idea.

I think it's a smart idea marhjan. It would certainly get the bitcoin ideal in front of more people. The only trouble I see with it is fiat price volatility. People will likely choose a gift card payout that will maintain its fiat value for more than a few minutes.
Unfortunately, for now, people don't really understand the true value of bitcoin.

Over the past few months to years a group of hackers or hacker has been getting into celeb icloud accounts and brute forcing password guessing by basically using the "find my iphone" app or some kind of exploit.
1. This should show that more and more data NEEDS higher levels of encryption.
If brute face was indeed used, how does encryption have anything to do with it? All this really does is reinforce the importance of secure passwords and the misplaced trust in technology.

7.1a is secure enough, it was been up for almost 3 years until this shutdown and there are 3 officially failed code audits during this period of time. There are a lot of the US court cases where they still weren't able to go further due to lack of evidence because of the TrueCrypt encryption.
Thanks. I found this article via reddit: https://madiba.encs.concordia.ca/~x_decarn/truecrypt-binaries-analysis/ which seems to say the same thing you are. It's a bit technical for my level though.

WARNING!!!This topic title is full of bullshit... Don't believe to all who says that ! This is just another stupid story to convince you to use NSA tools (BitLocker,RSA tools and others) Here are original TrueCrypt 7.1a mirrors: http://s7ick.org/tools/truecrypt/http://cyberside.net.ee/truecrypt/Don't get tricked and never forget to verify the checksums! While I tend to agree with your assessment, do you have evidence of your claim? Please search TrueCrypt on reddit, you will see a roughly 95% rate of people saying "Truecrypt is secure, more recent versions are not" I have searched on reddit. It's all very interesting to read, but there is a TON to sift through. Maybe you can save us all a little time if you know specifically which versions are secure?

So, an industry standard (so to speak) encryption program, is suddenly no longer secure and that is all? Is there a canary here? Looks like it...
Has to be. It makes no sense otherwise. If not, it seems they were forced to shut down by certain US agencies.

No, best case > $1200 I'm thinking the opposite. If you were a victim of the Goxxing, would you hang on to your returned coins? I'd think most people would dump them for fiat as quickly as possible.

The way I see it, the ecosystem cycles through buying Bitcoin to be spent at Overstock, and Overstock selling it back to someone else, and then someone buying or using Bitcoin to spend it back on the site again. Overstock's circulation is very good for Bitcoin, and I highly doubt its hurting it. Its causing more buys than hurtful sell pressure.
Like others said, it is certainly speculative by the looks of what is currently draining the price.
I'm curious what makes you think this is happening? It doesn't really make sense for the lay person to buy goods on Overstock.com in this manner. Why bother converting your dollars to bitcoin, then buy them back once you've spent them? That item will now have cost more after the bitcoin exchange fees. It's just a more expensive hassle that most people don't want to fool with. I think the majority, if not all, sales at Overstock are from the early adopters who acquired a lot of coins.

Maybe TBI only has circumstantial evidence and is playing a bluff? If he truly has evidence that will be damaging to the market, it seems he's trying to be a hero but protect his own interest at the same time. Either way you have to question the integrity of this guy.

I'm wondering if the guy who mentioned Bitcoin on today's podcast is a member of this board?
For those who have no clue what I'm talking about, The Adam Carolla Show is a popular daily comedy podcast. They interview Hollywood type guests and discuss daily news topics around the world. It's one of the most downloaded (if not the most) podcasts on iTunes. It also holds the Guinness world record for the most downloaded podcast.
Today's episode had a caller inquiring whether Adam would accept Bitcoin donations to support the (free) show. Adam asked what it was and the caller gave a brief description. Adam's response was basically "sure we'll accept it". He seemed fond of the fact there are no transaction fees.
Great job to whomever was able to get on his show and talk about Bitcoin. He has a very large audience and owns a network of podcasts covering many different subjects and reaching many audiences. All of his podcasts are free and are supported by donations as well as advertisments. He also has a good presence in TV media. Hopefully he sets up a wallet and starts talking up Bitcoin.
