181  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you think Bitcoin will crash again as ASIC equipment start to ship? on: February 22, 2013, 10:22:27 PM
The bitcoin price likes to crash every now and then just for the lolz.

You can't explain that."

Per BFL, there is a large bulk production lined up which should cover all the existing backlog of orders to present, and those chips should be ready in May.

How would you like to take your salt with that, a shovel, or can you just roll in it?
184  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could Satoshi come back and tell us what he/her thinks about the block size? on: February 22, 2013, 05:16:21 PM
Considering the amount of brain power that's gone into thinking about the block size, I highly doubt that "Satoshi" would have a unique insight that hasn't been thought of. It's a difficult problem.

He was ahead of his time, or ahead of most IT people, anyway.

But his last posts show no indication of him stepping away, he just stopped logging in one day.

Very curious to know what happened to him. Is anyone able to confirm that he's alright?

[...]can still go a lot higher.

Understatement, if ever there was one  Tongue
186  Economy / Speculation / Re: Second Great Bitcoin Bubble? on: February 22, 2013, 04:56:03 PM
People realizing that bitcoin cannot crash and die like a stock, and after seeing it's recovery from the last bubble, I think they're doing some real homework and realizing it's potential.

The word is spreading and demand is going up, but half of the Bitcoins that will ever exist have already been distributed, and after the block split, there are fewer new coins going up for sale.

You can't forge them and they can't be seized. You can encrypt and backup your wallet, then bury it/email it/print it, and the coins will still be on it regardless of where you accessing it from.

Bitcoin is beginning to click  Wink

I just have to add, I highly doubt you are a female. You're too distinguishing, honestly. "Aw", everything about you screams "look, I'm pretending". This thread gave me a laugh. I'd see you at you're late teens to early twenties and being male.

agreed, hilarious... and it gets funnier / more obvious:

I should probably start dinner first.  We're having pot roast and potatoes.

Hey, if he she can get some BTC this way, all the power to him her.  Smiley

last chance to buy at almost record highs?

Fundamentally Bitcoin is stronger today than it was last time it hit $30, but people are also more weary after the crash. I think it's going to hover ~$30 till the end of the month.
198  Economy / Speculation / Re: Sorry to inform you, the current rally is over now... or very soon. on: February 20, 2013, 07:35:06 PM
We went from $31 to $2 before, another crash like that could happen again, it could be even more drastic.. Will it? I don't know, but pretending that 50% is the floor is foolish.

If you think there aren't 10 times more people waiting for cheap coins than there was last time it crashed, then you're gonna miss one hell of a ride.
199  Economy / Speculation / Re: why you are buying back your bitcoins... on: February 20, 2013, 06:55:31 PM
That's just how shit works. Stuff goes up. Then stuff goes down.

+1

There are people who are looking to sell who are just holding out for the peak. Once they see it start to dip, there will be another rush, I'd guess down to ~$20.

It's only a matter of time.
200  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are ASIC's worth the investment? on: February 20, 2013, 06:49:20 PM
My friend pre-ordered a 1.5ths rig from bfl in june 2012 for 4300 btc at 7$.... lol

his 4300btc today is now worth 113950$... He's got alot of mining to do, to make that back...

yeah, if he cancels his pre-order, he only gets $30k worth of BTC back (or about 1000).

If he want's to cancel, he would be better off re-selling his place in line.

If you order a Mini Rig today, you'll be at LEAST 3 months behind anyone who ordered in June. He'll probably make it all back in that time period.
