141  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fidelity Now Allowing Bitcoins In IRAs on: December 12, 2013, 05:04:12 PM

But in any event, while you or I would rather just store our own bitcoins and avoid the fees, it's reasonable for the less technically-savvy. Additionally, this allows investors to gain exposure to bitcoin through an already-understood vehicle (ie, your CPA will be able to figure out the tax consequences easily). And the fees will likely remain pretty negligible compared to the overall gain or loss, for quite some time, due to the fact that bitcoin will remain volatile for a while; we're still obviously in wild price-discovery mode for a fascinating and far-reaching new technology, asset-class, and monetary system.

If you don't understand bitcoin enough to figure out how to properly store them safely then you probably shouldn't be pumping $25,000+ into them.
142  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: if you want btc to succeed start dumping your iDevices/Apple on: December 12, 2013, 05:01:18 PM
Lame speculation, Apple themselves have clearly mentioned that they will not allow it until there is regulatory clarity.

I don't think there is any ulterior motive here. This is just the downside apple gets for controlling everything with an iron fist. They are responsible for what happens in their app store because they decided to control it so tightly.

Eventually it will catch up with them(again).
143  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin gets a mention on The Colbert Report (12/10/13) on: December 12, 2013, 04:55:03 PM
If it goes up he will claim it was because of the colbert bump now.
144  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FT article "Time to take the Bitcoin bubble seriously" on: December 12, 2013, 04:53:25 PM
Nice headline. Sensationalist and makes no sense. Not "Time to take bitcoin seriously".
145  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fidelity Now Allowing Bitcoins In IRAs on: December 12, 2013, 01:17:02 AM
They charge 2% annually and 1.5% on the backend. Up to you to determine whether that is a fair price to store your bitcoins. From what I can tell they aren't trading bitcoins. They are literally buying and storing bitcoins on the investors behalf and charging them a fee.

I suppose those percentages could be worth it if they have ways of obtaining bitcoins at lower prices than the average person.
146  Economy / Gambling / Re: - 0% Rake Until January 1st. on: December 12, 2013, 01:01:42 AM

Yes, there are a few bots running on the site to help get things started.  I didn't really think of them as a bonus, but I suppose they are Smiley

You're on a pretty good roll.  You won the first freeroll last night worth 2500 chips (0.025 BTC), and taken home a nice stack of bitcoins as well.  Congrats!

Was wondering what was going on. Not that I'm complaining   Grin. If you want a prop for the micro/small stakes cash PM me. We can probably come to some arrangement if you are interested.
147  Other / Off-topic / Re: Does wikipedia remind of you the beggards on this forum? on: December 11, 2013, 10:49:29 PM
I'm more sick of these threads than I am their begging for money.

If you want to give them money just give them money. Quit asking them to help you promote BTC.
148  Economy / Gambling / Re: - 0% Rake Until January 1st. on: December 11, 2013, 10:29:17 PM
What time is the lobby set to? I'm seeing freerolls at 17:00 and 20:00, but its past 5pm est and the 17:00 hasn't started. EDIT: Apparently I accidently changed my time setting to pacific time.
149  Economy / Gambling / Re: | Largest Bitcoin Poker Site | No Banking | Fast Cashouts on: December 11, 2013, 09:45:22 PM
Got my problem fixed. I had moved the shortcut to my desktop which didn't work. Support got back to me pretty quickly.

See you guys in the donkdown freeroll(tonight?).
150  Other / Off-topic / Re: Amazon drones, lol on: December 11, 2013, 07:28:20 PM

DHL is testing it as well. Also saw something about the USPS testing drone delivery too. Obviously a long way out, but I don't think its as crazy as some people seem to think.
151  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will I be able to use Bitcoins at the mall in 2014??? on: December 11, 2013, 07:24:55 PM
Does anyone(coinbase, bitpay, etc) offer a service where you can pay at the point of purchase with BTC and the merchant receives USD?

153  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin and LTC have finally stabilized at 800 respective 30 dollars? on: December 11, 2013, 06:10:10 PM
Its not any more or less stable than it has been. There have actually been plenty of swings recently. Even after that small crash.
154  Other / Meta / Re: Can we get a poker sub-forum in gambling... on: December 11, 2013, 02:19:51 AM
I'm a long time twoplustwo and allvegaspoker poster.

I'd definitely be active in it were there a poker subforum. As it is the gambling subforum is almost exclusively threads for all the gambling sites and very little actual gambling related talk(strategy, statistics, etc).
155  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it SAFE to hold bitcoin on Mt GOX? Urgent on: December 11, 2013, 02:11:50 AM
You can move bitcoins very easily. Keep the absolute minimum on exchanges, gambling sites, etc.

Has little to do with security and more to do with none of these sites being all that trustworthy.
156  Other / Off-topic / Re: What does the GOX say? on: December 11, 2013, 02:03:47 AM
They used a gox chart on CNBC earlier which I thought was pretty funny. Looks like gox is back to being $50-100 higher than market again.
When was that?

Earlier today. Not sure exactly. Sometime in the afternoon EST. They had someone on discussing security or something and mentioned bitcoin for a second and flashed up the gox chart.
157  Economy / Services / Re: Tournament Poker Coaching(SNGs and MTTs) (1 Free session Available) on: December 11, 2013, 12:58:59 AM
I've been playing quite a bit on seals with clubs this week. So I have a good idea of what the games are like that now as well.(Bump)
158  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The last posting from your IP was less than 360 seconds ago on: December 11, 2013, 12:51:04 AM
Most annoying thing is when someone replied while I was typing my reply and it won't let me post because of that. Maybe I can turn that off in settings though I'm not sure.
159  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Wikipedia were to accept Bitcoin, how much would you be willing to donate? on: December 11, 2013, 12:40:38 AM
I guess this would help if people wanted to give really small amounts?

Wouldn't they then need to manage wallets carefully?

If you wanted to give $5+ you'd just convert to USD and ship it their way. Agree with the deletionists thing too. I'd go on there and spend some time writing an article that was actually correct on a topic that had a very minimal and wrong entry only to find it got reverted by someone who didn't know the first thing about it.
