1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HLM] HELIUM - PRE NOTICE on: October 14, 2018, 04:52:55 PM
We are pleased to announce that Dr Dimitris Antoniadis will be joining the project team to focus on pilot delivery and governance.

Dimitris is highly respected within the construction sector, with particular expertise in delivery of complex projects. He has provided a profile summary:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/xc3ie9q7lwt8gxt/Antoniadis_Publications_v01.pdf?dl=0

Following the last update, see below, the pilot work has now started with active input from several core members including SAP, Arup, TATA, Scan Computers / Ebb3 and others.

As the pilot expands out, all participants will be asked to sign a cooperation agreement which will cover a number of legal issues such as all intellectual property being open source, NDA arrangements between members to share sensitive information which may be necessary to facilitate the pilot and agreement around public representations such as press statements. Lawyers who have been giving input into the smart contracts workshops that took place earlier in the year, will be helping to draft the cooperation agreement.

While the immediate next stages of the development work are focused on process clarification around our draft white paper, a number of pilot participants are actively looking at how the work coming out of the pilot will impact real world deployment within their businesses and how they can begin to mobilize internally to yield the many benefits of blockchains and smart contracts.  This is an exciting aspect of our project as we move from having gained the trust and confidence of our partners based around listening to them and sketching out solutions, through to implementation.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HLM] HELIUM - PRE NOTICE on: August 26, 2018, 04:39:57 PM
Other than potential GDPR issues, I couldn't find any reason why we would not be able to share the following at this point:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/atcepbrb0c1qxf8/2018%200820_AZS_%20CBSCC_APPG_red.pdf?dl=0

We set our ambitions pretty high and we needed to get involved with requirements gathering and parsing the input from real industry experts before we could move forward. There was only one chance to get this done and be the first mover before others moved in and tied up the partners interested in this space.

The piloting team is pretty big now. Integrating industry experts with our own team for a common goal will be tricky, but we are all on the same path.

We have a window to get blockchain / smart contracts process flow recommendations into a global SAP beta testing phase, based on a new white paper we have drafted. If we don't get into this cycle, we'll probably get into another. Whatever happens with this immediate opportunity, we are coming out of the discussing phase and moving in to the doing phase.

If you are working in the construction sector or you provide enterprise software to the construction sector and you are using Google to find information about the Helium Blockchain Alliance, this is one of the forums where you can get in contact with the Helium team.

You can also contact the team via our website or social media, heliumpay.com https://twitter.com/HeliumPay

We have attended industry workshops and we are also aware that businesses and organisations within the construction and infrastructure sector are now referencing our work in their marketing materials. We would ask anyone making use of our work to give proper attribution to either Helium or The Helium Blockchain Alliance.

While the above materials from the project sponsors makes partial references to a draft paper due out later this year, the process flow diagrams and other charts do not. We are an open source project, but we still ask that you give proper attribution.

For clarification to those new to our work, our development of at least one of the above charts can be traced back to a filmed event we helped to organise in June 2017 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WszfphlmZA&t=671s

If you are searching for the Construction Smart Contracts Committee, some of their work is also based on our proposals for integrating distributed ledgers and smart contracts into supply chain dependent sectors, such as the construction sector. We will be releasing some further details on our approach to smart contracts after we have released a proposal on resolving the scaling constraints on extensive use of smart contracts within sectors that rely extensively on peaks in logistics for relatively short periods of time.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: December 27, 2017, 03:24:30 PM
Read the image you posted. It says accounts will be closed, not that coins will be delisted.

Yes I am aware of that.

But this would be the second time pump and dumpers are trying to do this with Spreadcoin, so I can't really say how bittrex will react if this keeps happening.
If I make the step and contact bittrex, I certainly hope that they will only remove those actors that have now obviously started yet another coordinated pump.
NOT the whole coin.

I want to explore what possibilities I have at this point.

For me, it is of course difficult to point fingers without any insider information, I am just a remote observer.
But something smells very fishy again, and I see all the same actors making noise again as in the last time this happened.

It looks like they just won't leave spreadcoin alone, although they spend a whole year bashing it to death and praising the upcoming HLM and the fantastic price it will have, lol.

Especially stonehedge has been very vocal and insulting about that, which is why I mentioned him in my previous post.
(his posts should all still be up for everyone to read, except of course if he deleted them in the mean time)

Anyway, I am now very closely observing the market, and at some point very soon I might open a conversation/ticket with bittrex and ask them to look into this.

No, I didn't do that yet.

And no, stonehedge don't worry, I won't name you personally, since I don't have any proof.
I mentioned you in jest, and not as a factual proof.

All I am going to probably do is ask bittrex nicely to take a look at both what is happening right now and what exactly happened during the HLM pump.

But I haven't made the decision yet.

I just wanted to tickle a nerve and see what happens, and it's pretty revealing to see all the "usual suspects" pop up in no time.  Roll Eyes

If I can prevent a second Pump and Dump I will do this, with the help of bittrex.

So, be warned!

Georgem

This is incredibly irresponsible of you.

Calling others scammers without any proof and on an admission of doing so just to 'tickle a nerve'.

If you raise any further scam accusation against the Helium project, I will treat that as a more serious case of libel and I will seek to take legal action against you on that basis.

I can not allow you to libel the project when mine and other people's reputations and money are at stake.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (decentralized blockexplorer coming) on: December 26, 2017, 11:46:27 PM
So the HLM scammers are pumping again?

http://spreadcointalk.org/index.php?topic=762.msg4749#msg4749

We all got that email from bittrex a month ago.
Maybe bittrex should take a look at SPR?

Don't blame me if bittrex delists Spreadcoin because of all the shady activity.

@Stonehedge and minions, this shit will stop one way or the other.

You were warned.

Georgem,

I know it is very easy to throw words around and you seem to be escalating casual name calling, which I have ignored, to full out scam accusations against Helium and its development team.

Just so you are aware, I am prepared to stand in a civil or criminal court of law and prove that there is no scam being perpetuated from my end.

If you feel so strongly that crimes are being committed, as I have helped you out financially in the past, you can contact the police and I will be happy to spend as long as it takes with them to prove that there is nothing scam like going on from my end.

Please be a little more refrained in the future when you through scam accusations around at the Helium project.

Frankly there has already been market shenanigans with HLM's dev team

Care to supply details? I'd like to know more.

Cheers

Nothing major, but pretty obvious insider trading of SPR based on the delays of the snapshots being pushed back a couple times. If you were paying attention to the market and slack it's clear some people acted on information before the community was given the opportunity to. This is to be expected though, like I said I give them a pass. It's still unethical, but it's just the way of unregulated markets. It's not enough for me to call them scammers, they're just playing the game everyone else is. /shrug

Pushing back snapshots were due to requests made by Cryptopia. Within hours of us knowing, we told everyone.

If you are in the slack channel, you will have noticed that Cryptopia are also active in the slack today to help everyone. Feel free to ask them directly about requests they made to move the dates.

After having spent almost 3 years working on Spreadcoin because the first dev went MIA leaving a bunch of nobs with worthless tokens and then battling to push this project forward, - and I know you know what I mean - I can take pretty much any type of abuse other than casually being labelled a scammer.

Come into the slack, ping me and I'll share the messages we had with Cryptopia and you can then work through the dates we made announcements and then check the trading activities on Bittrex.

@everyone This is the last mass announcement from us.

Your coins should be at or heading to where they should be when the snapshot happens in just a few hours time.

Remember, don't watch the clock, watch the block height for timing: 1657200

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/spr/

The blocks are moving faster since it started to be attacked earlier to speed up the chain and put people off guard.

@everyone It looks like someone is attacking Spreadcoin by throwing additional hashing at it and speeding up the block emissions schedule.

Please move your coins to their final positions ASAP, if you want to claim any Helium coins.

Remember, we are focusing on the block height of 1657200

@everyone It's the last few hours to get your coins to where you want them to be.

A note from Cryptopia (no editing from us):

1. Cryptopia will pause the SPR market about 30min before the snapshot block arrives.
2. After the snapshot block arrives, we will credit the users with their helium balances
3. after the snapshot process is complete and it's safe for users to sell their SPR, we will resume trading on the SPR market

Please see #snapshot thread for some questions that have been asked before. Please do not post in that thread so people can find information quickly.

after block 1657200 i can sell my spr? or have i wait for the airdrop? my coins are on cryptopia

If you really want to, yes. Why not keep them? I plan to. Spreadcoin has a great future.

EXCHANGE

We are expecting Cryptopia to capture how many Spreadcoins everyone has on their exchange at this block height.

We will wait a few days before doing the actual snapshot download. Once we have a database of who owned what at block height 1657200, done some checks, we can begin thinking about the launch process.

When the Helium chain is launched, we will generate enough coins at the start to give everyone at block height 1657200 the same number of Helium coins as they had on Spreadcoin.

Cryptopia will tell us the total of all the account balances they have (not who you are individually) and after an audit, we will give them the number of Helium coins that match how many Spreadcoins they had on their books at the time of the snapshot block height.

Once we send them all the Helium coins they have asked for, they will distribute them to all your accounts - 'Airdrop'.

MANUAL

If you are in control of your Spreadcoins (off exchange and on a public key where you have the actual private key), then you can start to make a claim for your Helium coins.

This will take a real long time as we'll be busy with the launch process, making sure the network is stable, dealing with MN set-up questions, dealing with people attacking the network, dealing with new pool operators, dealing with new exchange discussions, starting off potential pilots, working on a patent application, flying off to have technical meetings about the Service Node network, etc, the list goes on and on (just setting some expectations on timing of 'rush jobs' people will be asking for).

HOW LONG TO WAIT BEFORE MOVING COINS?

How long do you have to wait before moving your coins around? That is a difficult question to answer. I personally am going to allow a minimum of 60 to 120 blocks (about 1 to 2 hrs). Take a look at discussions around the Bitcoin Cash fork and you'll see a range of discussions on this question. The variety of answers apply to us too. Some will say you should wait days, some a few hours.

You could take your chances and move coins after just a few blocks, but why take the risk?

13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HLM] HELIUM - PRE NOTICE on: October 08, 2017, 09:32:29 AM
x-post from Slack

The block height was selected based on a date and time requested by Cryptopia - I used the requested date and calculated which block height that would fall on.

Spreadcoin has 1 minute blocks, so I worked out how many minutes between a recently issued block and the 10th October at 10am New Zealand time.

The release of blocks is subject to variances. Spreadcoin will release blocks 'approximately' every 1 minute. Over a long period of time, it averages 1 minute, but if have ever watched a block explorer, you'll see that some blocks are produced within seconds of each other and other times blocks are several minutes apart.

Ok, why am I explaining this?

Do not use the 10th October, 10am New Zealand time as the cut off date and time. That is just something you can use to give you an approximation.

The block height 1657200 is the snapshot cut off time and only the 1657200 block height.

If you have never used a block explorer, you might want to take a look now so you can figure out how to use it as a count down timer. You'll only need to do this if you plan on leaving the final location of your Spreadcoins to the very last minute (please don't).

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/spr/

or

http://cryptoguru.tk/CurrencyList/index.php?Currency=SPR

NB: The Spreadcoin wallet is the best place to keep track of blocks.

As Bitcoin difficulty has increased, the official release times for each block is 10 minutes, but it has reduced down to closer to 9 or 8 minutes.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HLM] HELIUM - PRE NOTICE on: October 08, 2017, 09:31:33 AM

Q. "How high will the mining difficulty be at the beginning?"

What a great question.

Bitcoin block 1 was mined 6 days after block 0, the genesis block.

https://blockchain.info/block/000000000019d6689c085ae165831e934ff763ae46a2a6c172b3f1b60a8ce26f
https://blockchain.info/block/00000000839a8e6886ab5951d76f411475428afc90947ee320161bbf18eb6048

Blockchains take a while to come to life, in the case of Bitcoin roughly a week. If there are too many people mining immediately, the network will get into difficulty as the chain is too new and many forks will appear. It has the potential to be a bit of a mess.

This is why we'll keep everyone off the network for a while during which time we'll bring up the difficulty, which is effectively establishing a stable 'longest chain' for everyone to follow.

A while could be 1 week, 2 weeks, possibly 3 weeks. We'll determine when we think its reasonably safe, but with ASICS the start might be a difficult time (no pun intended). You'll get frustrated as hell during this period. Please feel free to take out your frustrations on me and no one else, as everyone else in the team will be working hard to try to get the network stable.

We wont profit from the rewards we'll earn during the closed mining period. We'll probably burn those coins.

We are expecting 2 pools to be up by the time you all get on the network.

Q. "we do not know the full details on either the Cryptopia nor the local wallet method"

RE: LOCAL WALLET METHOD

At block height 1657200 nothing will happen. That block will come and go. We will not be launching the new Helium chain immediately after.

We will wait several days for the Spreadcoin network to settle down and any transactions that have not confirmed to confirm.

The nature of blockchains is that they fork pretty much every few days. Bitcoin forks roughly twice a week. It is normal and part of the system design as miners battle to produce a block that wins them a block reward, so the network consensus rules kick-in and the nodes on the network agree on which chain is the longest and therefore is the chain they will follow.

This means that if there are two or more chains on the network at any one moment in time, one of them will become the longest and the official chain and the others will die off. Again, this is normal blockchain behaviour and nothing you should be too concerned about.

So from a practical point of view, the snapshot block height comes and goes and we don't suddenly rush into activity. We wait for everything to settle down and then jump into action.

If you have sent coins to your own local wallet, you will be in control of the private keys. You can then ask an escrow to engage with us to allocate you your Helium coins (you may have to pay them a fee and we are only supporting 'smooth' on BCT at the moment, but you can propose someone else); or you can ask us directly if you don't mind us knowing how many coins you have (we won't charge a fee).

* You can sign a message with a Spreadcoin address you control and send us the message confirming your Helium address. This proves that you are in control of that Spreadcoin address and the private keys. We'll look-up that address in the snapshot database and then send you the coins that correspond with that address on the block height. How to sign a message is a video we produced a while back https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mV8l6MPOtSU

* If that is too complicated, you can send one of our team your coins and we will check your balances at the date of the block height and then send back those Spreadcoins and also send you your Helium coins.

All these local wallet support options require you to have a Helium wallet or a Helium address (you could use an address on an exchange, for example). You will not be able to get a Helium address until we have launched the network and provided Windows, Mac and Linux wallets which will be Gitian builds.

Please only follow links to the official wallets from the Bitcoin Talk OP or this slack #announcements thread.

Do not download from any other links.

see #snapshot thread for other questions asked about the snapshot. Please do not post in that channel so people can find answers quickly.

"we do not know the full details on either the Cryptopia nor the local wallet method."

RE: CRYPTOPIA

Cryptopia will have a list of all Spreadcoin addresses being used on their exchange and the corresponding balances for each account. They will provide us with a list of addresses and balances which we will cross-check against the snapshot download. When we are in agreement on how many coins are on their exchange, we will send them that number of coins which they will then distribute across your accounts.

We are expecting an internal 'audit' report from them too.

You do not need to do much more than register for an account if you want an exchange to handle your air drop and then send your coins to your account - remember leave plenty of time in case you have a support request for either Cryptopia or Bittrex.

* This is a video on how to create an account on Cryptopia - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22yLz7TgcWQ
* This is a video on how to deposit and withdraw coins to and from Cryptopia https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ykWYQ5vZBh0
* There is also a guide on the Cryptopia forums for using their exchange. Trading = https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/Forum/Thread/1389 and Deposits = https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/Forum/Thread/886

Q."Can I keep coins on bittrex for snap shot day!" No. We don't advise it.

* Send coins to Cryptopia if you want an exchange to handle the airdrop for you.
* Send coins to your Spreadcoin wallet
* Send coins to a Spreadcoin address where you have access to the private keys, in the event that you have not downloaded the wallet in sufficient time to fully sync the Spreadcoin blockchain.

However, we have made Bittrex aware of the snapshot block height. We have also offered to provide them with support for any coins left on the exchange at the cut off block height because people were away, sick, etc. You will need to open a support request directly with Bittrex and ask them to send us an email, detailing the number of coins they want and your exchange address.

This does not mean you can leave your coins on Bittrex if you want to claim your Helium coins. The only officially supported exchange for the snapshot is Cryptopia. Bittrex involvement at this time is down to their goodwill if you have a problem. We cannot get involved with the process, other than to accept a request directly from Bittrex. You may have to wait a while for your coins to be processed by them and then us.

see #snapshot thread for other questions asked about the snapshot. Please do not post in that channel so people can find answers quickly.

Hi @everyone We have been asked to create a little more time for the snapshot by the exchange.

We have internally agreed to move the snapshot date back (again). Before giving you a date, we want everyone involved in the snapshot and launch process to confirm what works for them. It is looking like 10 days breathing space has been requested, so we'll do what we can to get a block height.

As you know, we are prepared to take a copy of the blockchain this week. We may turn that into a release of a test download so you can check how it looks in a single download.

What can I say, other than to apologise. Moving dates back has mostly been out of our hands, but I think you all appreciate that we have formed relationships with third parties and we want to work with them not back them into corners.

There are something like 1,300 cyrpto projects out there and millions of new faces. The crypto eco-systems are busier than they have ever been and it's getting busier each day.

I have had an increasing number of messages from people in full panic mode about the snapshot date as it gets closer. For those people, a little breathing space will be welcome.

Hey @everyone we are targeting Spreadcoin block 1,644,100 as the snapshot date. This is subject to exchange confirmation, so it is subject to change.

cross-post from Slack

@teckii2 I see you have a count down clock - please remember the announcement we made yesterday needed the exchange to confirm. The effort and process from our side is now ok and tested, but we need the exchange to be 100% confident with everything on their end, in particular the allocation of people resources to the whole process to match all the coins against many, many accounts.

So please do expect we may have to alter the block height once all parties are in complete agreement.

We have given a block height because we want everything to happen as soon as possible and that was our indication that we want it to be sooner rather than later. The timing is an indication that we are narrowing down to launch.
