I'v decompiled the application and searched for malicious code and found none.
The application does not search for local wallets (wallet.dat) and seems to be legit Kiss

I've used btc-e and, lately, cryptsy with great success (btc-e seems to have more volume, but fewer options than cryptsy), I also like campbx (they only do bitcoin, but when transferring between fiat and bitcoin I prefer them (they're based in the US and have low cost transfers to USD)).

I agree with you about btc-e and cryptsy ..
