1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ZEN] ZENCASH: Permanent, Distributed, and Fully Anonymous cryptocurrency on: May 31, 2017, 02:29:22 AM
Question:

I had a private key (in Zclassic using Eleos wallet) that held 30 ZCL from block 108,000 to 114,000.
At around block 114,000, I sent the 30 ZCL to someone else.

Should that private key, when imported into zen-cli using importprivkey, have a balance of 30 ZEN since the snapshot was taken of ZClassic at block 110,000? Or am I missing something here?

EDIT (I'm a noob):

Figured out why; I was expecting ./zend would rename its block indices so that block 110,000 would be known as block 0 in the Zen chain. Gah, it's actually using the same indexing as ZClassic, so the "first" non-ZCL block of Zen will be notated as 110,001, so I won't see my balance for 10 minutes or so until it syncs back up to that height. Noob mistake, sorry! Smiley

I previously backed up a ZCL wallet from Eleos, how do I restore these keys into zcl-cli? zcl-cli importwallet wallet.dat gives me an error ("Cannot open wallet dump file").

I'd like to add some peers via addnode, could any full nodes please post their nodes' IP addresses here?

hi tenletters, can you keep in touch with us here if there is any progress of the side-chain project?

Yep, I can copy-paste comments from any merges I do.

For escrow, I think the third option you presented is the best. And yes, I believe in the future of Groestlcoin so I will be happy to set the contract at 750,000 GRS.

1) Please contact Coblee to arrange the escrow and send me the multisig address where to send 750.000 GRS.
2) Elements repo forked and u have been granted write access to the repo.

Hi Jackie! Creating multisig, can you post your electrum-grs master public key?

@ tenletters, jackielove4u, et. al.,

Great job sharing all the details and negotiations of the project on this forum. I’ve not only enjoyed following along, I’ve learnt things as well. While some argue that this type of forum isn’t the appropriate place, I completely disagree. Crypto has taken open source to the extreme in the sense that even ordinary shareholders play an active role, and they need to be included as much as possible, just as you have here. Slack is great for the more technical of the technical (and github even more so), but we shouldn’t think that the average shareholder is a complete “dummy” either. Everyone should have easy access to all pertinent information – then, whether they read it or not, of course, is their rightful choice as well. Wink

You’ve done a great job in my opinion by conducting the negotiations and reaching agreements in a public manner. It’s example that I think should be followed.

Congratulations, and looking forward to following further developments as well.

Very cool, exciting stuff.  Cool

Thank you, all of the projects I most admire use extreme transparency and this seems to multiply the value of their work (because many other smart people in the world can freely inspect the work and business and make criticisms, improvement, etc).

I can Escrow the funds of this project if needed.

It really sounds great, hope this project comes of the ground.

Cheers,

Hi PsychoticBoy, I am creating a 2-3 multi-sig address tonight. Could you post one of your public Groestlcoin addresses (of which you control the private key) so I can add you as one of the parties to the multisig address?

Hi tenletters,

This Groestlcoin address can be used to create the multisig.

FbJ5kmXt5HQVZvQmWyqqzk5qRdzgX4VtLj

Kind regards,
PB

PS: Good luck with the project Smiley

Sorry to bug you again, so I found out that jackielove4u's recommended way of doing it is easier; I'm using Electrum-GRS, and following these instructions (but for GRS instead of BTC).

Instead of just a public key, could you send me the public master key for one of your electrum-grs wallets to input as the second co-signer? Here is my master public key:

Once jackielove4u and you post your master public keys, any one of us can re-create the multisig account locally using the electrum-grs multisig feature.

Hi! I check Telegram often, and definitely prefer it over Skype (due to stronger encryption and absence of Microsoft snooping). I have PMed you my Telegram number. If Telegram isn't possible, then PM me back and I can send my skype handle.

3) Elements-Alpha contains the Segwit-only features, whereas my understanding is that Liquid contains the features that are compatible with the present non-Segwit Bitcoin network. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that Liquid is therefore a rather centralized attempt at a sidechain.

7) The escrow proposal sounds good, but can we make it a 2-of-3 escrow (utilizing a multisig address)? Bitrated is a directory of reputable independent escrow agents-- among these is coblee (Charlie Lee, creator of Litecoin for those who didn't know), and he has a top-tier reputation as an escrow agent. Could we perhaps invite someone like Charlie (and one other reputable agent) in addition to PsychoticBoy so we can do a fairly solid 2-of-3?

Added you on Telegram.

3)  Liquid is the internal ledger between a few exchanges. There are multiple implementations of Lightning network (such as lnd written in Go). Have you seen this one: https://github.com/ElementsProject/lightning ?
Perhaps your next project after elements alpha or in case you fail to port elements alpha you can switch to lightning and still claim the funds? Im open for all suggestions.

7) I agree on your proposal if coblee chooses to accept it. There are 3 options:
- We send all funds to coblee and he releases the funds to you when you successfully complete this project (as in working and ready for production)
- We can use 1-of-2 multisig escrow with you and coblee. Funds to be released when you successfully complete this project (as in working and ready for production)
- We can use 2-of-3 multisig escrow with you, coblee and psychoticboy. Funds to be released when you successfully complete this project (as in working and ready for production)

Funds to be send to coblee/multisig address is 750.000 GRS. Do you agree on that ammount? Lets determine the ammount now and get that fixed. If price rises/lowers by 1 september 2017 then you still get 750.000 GRS.

As far as Lightning and Liquid, I will be open to consider working on those after we get Groestlcoin-Elements-Alpha to production!

For escrow, I think the third option you presented is the best. And yes, I believe in the future of Groestlcoin so I will be happy to set the contract at 750,000 GRS.

2) Why the hard deadline of September, if u need 2 or 3 months extra, why dont just finish the project and keep the funds (instead returning the funds?). Im more interested in making this proposal a success.

3) Why did you choose elements-alpha as experimental sidechain and not Liquid (by Blockstream) or Rootstock?. Who will monitor and maintain the sidechain and fix issues if there are any? Who will keep the elements-alpha up to date with upstream from time to time?

6) We prefer also that you dont quit your job as we have a normal dayjob also. Just managing expectations here. If the project is not finished by Sept. 1, i rather have you take as much of time u need to finish it instead of returning the funds.

7) How can we make this concrete? The problem is not the funding as we already have a investor who wants to fund u in full. Before he transfers the Groestlcoins to me, i want to make sure that you are who u claim u are and that u are able to deliver. For example lets determine the ammount of GRS that needs to be transfered.
We have 2 options here:
- We transfer 15 BTC of Groestlcoin worth to an escrow (my choosing will be PsychoticBoy). Funds will be delivered to you when you deliver the project. The ammount will be fixed. If the price of GRS rises or gets down then u still get the same ammount.
- We transfer 3.75 BTC of Groestlcoin worth to your GRS address and hope we dont get scammed. The ammount will be fixed. If the price of GRS rises or gets down then u still get the same ammount.
I prefer to use the escrow btw.

8 ) No additional duties/responsibilities. We just keep all Groestlcoin related project in 1 place. If people wants to fork elements alpha then they can fork from our Github. It would be also nice if you could merge with upstream from time to time but its not mandatory and out of the scope of this project.

How about communication? Will you keep a blog to update the community every month about the progress? Is there a faster way to contact each other instead of email/PM. You will need the fast communication in case you are stuck and need help. I recommend using Skype (pm me your Skype address).

So a bit about myself as a developer:

    Joseph Cooper, jecooper@alum.mit.edu

    • I created SegWitPoolsData, a script for retrieving data about which BTC pools have been mining Segwit recently and it also looks up a recent BTC address being used by each pool (i.e. if you wanted to auto-donate to Segwit pools (or non-segwit pools), you could use this script).
    • I'm the Senior Software Developer of a small (~5 million USD market cap) east coast US software company
    • I have a degree in pure mathematics from MIT

    The goals of this project
    • To create a Groestlcoin sidechain called Groestl-Alpha which possesses the desirable features from Elements: confidential transactions, atomic swaps with the main Groestlcoin chain, etc.
    • To be the first cryptocurrency to have a functional sidechain on mainnet.
This goes beyond just attracting speculators. Devs from other chains (e.g. Bitcoin, Ethereum) might join the Groestl dev force once they are enticed by the prospect of working with live sidechain-enabled features. Groestl will become the official "laboratory" for all cryptocurrency developers who want to work at the cutting edge.
    • While working on groestl-alpha, to be attentive to any bugs we might encounter in the core Groestl code, and to submit issues to the repo regarding these.

    Funding goal:
I would like to assume full-time responsibility for seeing this project to completion by September 1, 2017. Therefore the fundraising target is 15 BTC (or the equivalent in Groestls). If donations begin to come in, I will set up a website for tracking them and blogging on the status of the project.

I'll check back in here on bitcointalk to answer questions, provide additional information, or whatever other services I can provide.

    Cheers!

Update (2017/04/20) - Thank you for the Groestl donation from anonymous![/list]

    Care to clarify some things:

    1) In one of your previous post you claim that you are "not an expert cryptocurrency programmer" but a marketing guy. When did you change from a marketing guy to a coder?
    2) In one of your previous post you ask to fork Bitcoin-core and make the necessary changes so you can have a bitcoin-equihash-testnet. Why didnt u do it urself? This raises some red flags for me if u are able to fork elements and elements-alpha. Especially because we are not a simple altcoin (Groestlcoin uses Double Groestl512 for Block headers, Message, Address, Alert Messages, Script OP_HASH256. Groestlcoin uses Single SHA256 for Message Signing, Transactions and Transaction Signatures. Groestlcoin uses Double SHA256 for MerkleRoots and BIP38). We didnt just use Groestl algo for our POW. We groestlized almost everything. Thats why other coins failed to implement auxpow with us.
    3) You seem to be the moderator of r/BitcoinMaximalists/ with slogan: For holders working to expand the Bitcoin economy. Why your interest in altcoins and in particular for Groestlcoin?
    4) You say you are willing to accept the equivalent of Groestlcoins. I dont think you can get that much BTC raised in Groestlcoin. However the Groestlcoin equivalent should be doable. Will you hold them or dump them on the market right away? (hold because you believe in the project. Dump because you are a Bitcoin maximalist)
    5) Your Github is very empty, can't judge your skills. Honest question: Will you port Elements yourself or will somebody else do it for you? Do you have a team? Will LukeJR be involved or desantis perhaps?
    6) Assuming you want to work full time on this, are you currently unemployed? If not, how can you work 40 hours a week on this? If yes, what happends if you find a job in the near future?
    7) You will work 5 months on this for 15 BTC. So thats 3 BTC per month. Isnt getting paid 3 BTC (or equivalent in Groestlcoins) every beginning of the month in advance much better choice for both of us?
Cool On Groestlcoin we only work in our Github. This means you would be added to Groestlcoin project and you would be granted access to the necessary repos. Is that a problem for you?

p.s. PM me your IRC or Skype details so we can have a chat and move things faster.

Hi jackielove4u, great questions, I will answer them as concisely as possible:

    1) In that instance I didn't wish to volunteer myself for coding duties, but I am indeed a coder.

    2) Yup, and that's why I'm giving myself until September 1, so I have plenty of time to learn the particularities of Groestlcoin.

    3) Correct-- in my view, successful sidechains in a production environment would sway internal Bitcoin politics in a preferable direction. That doesn't change the fact that I wish to carry out this project for Groestlcoin to completion.

    4) I would be happy to accept just Groestlcoins, and I think everyone would be able to use a block explorer to verify that I am not dumping. I do not intend to transfer the Groestlcoins until after completion of the project.

    5) I plan to do most of the work but will possibly collaborate with a close friend who has a course 6 (E.E.) B.S. MIT '08 and a Master's in EE (also MIT) '09 and did some graduate work at U.Chicago in linguistics before working for Google. If I do end up working with this person, I will supply you their personal details.

    6) I'll agree that full time might not work unless I quit my current job (which I'm not willing to do). However, I would agree to say that if the project is not substantially completed (modulo a certain number of bugs and other outstanding issues) by September 1, then I will return the funds to their respective senders (minus transaction fees).

    7) That's fine. But in terms of dates, the target is Sept. 1,, and the month of April is nearly finished, so it would be 4 months rather than 5 months so it would be 3.75 BTC per month over the course of 4 months.

8 ) Not a problem for me, although I don't foresee needing such access (I could just create pull requests periodically). Would I have additional duties/responsibilities to the community if I were granted such access?

      Proposal for ambitious Groestl project

      • Create a groestl-based fork of Elements and Elements Alpha.
These are some of the features that an elements sidechain to Groestl would add:

      • A new "Segwit coins only" multi-wallet that has an exchange allowing atomic swaps across different currency pairs between different people-- i.e. a truly decentralized coin exchange with no middlemen. Currently, this would consist of Groestlcoin and Syscoin.

How this will set Groestlcoin apart:

Developers/entrepreneurs interested in testing sidechains on a live chain (rather than a testnet) will be able to easily do so by cloning the Groestl-elements fork we will create.

Confidential Transactions on the Groestl-Alpha pegged sidechain.

The first ultra-decentralized altcoin exchange with 0% fees. It will include Groestlcoin and Syscoin, followed (hopefully) by Viacoin and Litecoin (and any further Segwit coins that come along).

      Getting it done:

I would like to begin working on this project immediately, donations would help to accelerate things. Any support or feedback would be much appreciated!
      Groestlcoin: Foix566fBaVLGFwd2Jb6Lwwahfq51PYhTE
      Bitcoin: 1KXh9hhMicfeMn4CsMzZZGKf3XGTVusgWc

I must say, I applaud your efforts. That is indeed a very ambitious Groestl project. I like the proposal but it's not clear what kind ammount of donations you are expecting. What happends for example if somebody only donates 0.1 btc? Is your proposal depending on the donations or will you do it anyway? If you want donations then people would like to see what your qualifications are to create the groestl-based sidechain (do you have a github?). Would love to get milestone reports if possible.

It's based on 2 year old research, when the Monero minimum mandatory mix-in count was 0. Today Monero requires a bare minimum of 2-mixins (for a total of 3 participants) in each transaction.

E.g. What this paper written by ZCash people alludes to was a problem that was fixed one or two hard forks ago.

Great questions! I will add a section to my original post with this information when I get off work today.

      Percentage SegWit (this period)   82.61%
      SegWit activation threshold   75%

      done

Segwit back down to 67% (proof). Does it need to hold above 75% for some specified length of time, or did it activate the moment that it crossed the 75% threshold.
