1  Other / Beginners & Help / GeForce Miners vs. AMD miners on: December 01, 2013, 07:09:12 AM
Hi guys,

I've been doing a bit more reading on GPU mining and the overall consensus is that Radeon GPUs are preferred, on account that they pull away from the GeForce GPUs by leaps and bounds in terms of pure, raw calculations.

That being said though: Is it feasible to actually mine with the latest GeForce GPUs (GTX 760, GTX 770, GTX 780, etc.)? Also, are there any bitcoin miners that use GeForce GPUs?

Duly noted reversebackwards

As for where you're mining, I think it's been removed by the site cause it says 'suspicious link removed' lol

Hi Blam,

My setup at current:

CPU: Core i7-960 3.6GHz
Memory: 8GB RAM
GPU: AMD Radeon HD5870 1GHz 256bit
PSU: Cooler Master 650W

My system's a bit old now, considering I got it back years ago, so I thought that since I'm getting a new rig soon, I'd put this one to work for me. That being said though, do let me know if there is anything I can change on this current PC (I'm guessing the GPU may be the chief suspect lol Cheesy) or if there's a way to get the most out of this system.

Oh and also, if you need a little more info on my rig to help me with the calculations, just let me know.

Thanks for being patient with me

Hi guys

I'm pretty new to bitcoin and just started, so I've got a few inquiries to make.

I just started out and am using guiminer. I'm currently mining from Slush's Pool. I'm currently mining using my GPU (at least, I hope so from the option I chose) and so far, the MHash is at an average of 160MHash/s. My questions are:

1. I've noticed that my send threshold has automatically been set to 1.0. Should I make any changes to it?

2. In relation to prior question: I somewhat understand that the payout will be made to my wallet which I've set up once it crosses the send threshold. At current, the estimated reward is very low (approx. 0.00001). Does this estimated reward accumulate over time?

3. my rig has been mining for almost 48 hours at this point and I've yet to see or receive any coin. Again, is this because there is an accumulation process happening with this particular mining pool before the payout is made, or could there be something wrong with my bitcoin wallet not receiving any payments at the moment?

4. I've encrypted my wallet, but I heard cold storing the data on a USB. Stupid as this question is (and I do apologize for it, both in earnest and in advance): how do I do this and/or is there a thread which I can read about this?

I do apologize if my questions are a bit, but your answers and advice would help as solutions.

Thanks Smiley
