101  Other / Off-topic / Re: What are your favourite RETRO games? on: September 28, 2017, 12:08:39 AM
All mario games, All GTA games prior to #4. Man those were the times and dope games

Absolutely! I still play Mario on my NES tbh Smiley THE best GTA game was the 2nd one AND the first 3D one - that experience of being able to go around in a real sandbox world game like that, was awesome, especially when taking into account that we had been used to a top-down version up until then.

103  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is the solution for global warming? on: September 28, 2017, 12:06:06 AM
Lots of focus on planting trees in here - that scares me a lot! People really should be aware of the biggest contributors to climate change.

THE number ONE cause impacting climate change IS the animal farming industry. We eat more meat than we have EVER done in Europe and America. Not only does that have negative health consequences to eat too much meat (higher rates of cancer and heart disease) but it also IS the primary driver behind climate change. If everyone in the world started eating just half the amount of meat that they currently do instead, we would already be way closer to a solution to climate change.

How much time do we have? 20 years to the date. If we do not make drastic changes in this time, climate change is permanent and irreversable.
104  Other / Off-topic / Re: What are your favorite board games ? on: September 27, 2017, 08:32:52 AM
Risk is my all time favourite. With the family we like to play Cards against humanity a lot, although that is a card game. We used to play a lot of board games when we wdre younger, sich as Monopoly and Millionaire (not the who wants to be a millionaire game but a much much different game).
105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: PIECOIN REBOOT on: September 27, 2017, 08:27:18 AM
I hope devs are looking for another way to swap coins if Nova is not available.
I was not able to register there yet and not sure they have the capacity to fix it any time soon.

What error did you get mate?
106  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: PIECOIN REBOOT on: September 27, 2017, 08:26:41 AM
Hey guys. I am one of the developers of PIE and currently developing Social Sending. I'm aware that you guys have lost trust in this coin just because we are not active on bitcointalk. If you still require any assistance and need a question answered then feel free to message me or just join discord. I am very active there.

Regards,

Shepy

Hey there. If you want I can help deliver some of the messages on relevant updates on my website, I just need to be kept regularly in the loop then. Shoot me a message mate and let's discuss. Finding time both for delivering the PR and dev can be time consuming and near impossible at times, if you also have a day job to take care of.
107  Other / Off-topic / Re: what will you do when you are in a bad mood? on: September 27, 2017, 12:55:30 AM
Uh that varies a lot. Sometimes I go to the gym, I force myself to it so that I can exercise some demons that way. Or I chill Netflix. Sometimes I just fire up CSGO and to kill some time and newbs that way - it is an awesome way to destress a bit and get in a better mood (unless you play with kids who whine every time something happens they do not quite agree with).

Find your thing, what works for others does not necessarily work for you. We are all different.
108  Other / Off-topic / Re: Gamers on: September 26, 2017, 08:49:46 PM
What I have played the most of is definitely CSGO - I am an addict. But I did play CS since 1999 so it has been hard for me to shake it off. We used to play it competitively when I was a teenager, spending way more hours in front of the PC than what is healthy for sure Smiley Besides that I love LoL, PUBG and Quake 3. Whatever games I can play online and competitively I am the most into. Of outsiders I also love 7 Days to Die and Rust.
109  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is the solution for global warming? on: September 26, 2017, 08:29:49 PM
Oh my, where to start!

1. Reduce the amount of meat we consume - the farming industry is the biggest contributor to climate change. We all eat way more meat than we need. Most people cannot phantom a meal without meat, or at least to get it at least once a day - it is not necessary - vegan or vegetarian days are perfectly fine and you leave a much lower carbon footprint. If we do not decrease the amount of meat we consume, it does not matter how hard you try with everything else - the carbon footprint is simply way too big.
2. Stop wasting more packaging we need, especially plastic. How often don't you get a plastic bag at the shop because you did not bring one from home? How many things are not packaged in more packaging than is actually needed. Producing packaging has a considerable footprint on climate change.
3. Instead of taking the car - walk or take the bike.
4. Stop eating snacks that contains palm oil - palm oil plant farming is one of the biggest reasons that the rainforest in Brazil is being deforested. Biscuits, cakes etc. that you find in stores all contain palm oil (very few don't) - the reason? It is cheap to produce, but its carbon footprint in production is huge - especially when deforestation is taken into account.
5. Rely on green energy instead - governments need to take action here and follow in the footprint of the Scandinavian countries. My home town in Denmark expects to be run by green energy fully some time next year. There has been huge investments into solar panels and wind mills to name a few.

As a result of all this we can expect that:
- By 2045 the majority of the world seas will be fish-less (General consensus in the scientific community).
- In 30 years there will be no more coral-reefs - they cannot adapt to the warming sea temperatures. In 2016 alone 30% of the great barrier reef (which is the biggest structure made by any organism on the planet) died out.
- Most rain-forests will be gone circa 2050.
- Sea levels will rise and that will cause mass migration not to mention huge local government costs that you tax-payers will have to pay.
- Glaciers will be a thing of the past - they are melting at record levels already.

We have a window of approximately 20 years to make drastic changes - if we do not reduce our carbon emission, it will simply be too late by then and nothing can be reversed.
110  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do You Waste Your Life On The Internet? on: September 26, 2017, 06:06:18 PM
My lifestyle is very Internet heavy. I rely on the Internet for everything. Reaearch, studies, hobbies, entertainment, you name it. I do a lot in cryptocurrency so there really is not that many offline channels to use for that Wink

One thing however I try never to do is to waste time on facebook scrolling. Trying to find the footer on that site is an impossible task lol. I am not a big fan of facebook in general, I think it adds very little value and just consumes and wastes peoples time and lives.
111  Other / Off-topic / Re: What are your favourite RETRO games? on: September 26, 2017, 05:40:38 PM
Sims and Hitman.

Hitman is an awesome classic!
112  Other / Off-topic / What are your favourite RETRO games? on: September 26, 2017, 05:03:08 PM
Here I am not talking about any new releases within the last 10 years. For any game to make your list they must be at least 10 years old, if they are younger they simply do not count. Do we have some old timers in here?

My top 10 favourite retro games older than 10 years are:

  • 1. Doom 1
  • 2. Quake 2
  • 3. Counter Strike 1.3 (preferably the older versions)
  • 4. The Sims (The first)
  • 5. Need for Speed Hot Pursuit (torn between 1 and 2 here)
  • 6. Warcraft 3 The Frozen Throne
  • 7. Black & White (Best God Game period!)
  • 8. Wolfenstein 3D (classic! and the one that really got the FPS genre started - how can anyone forget that?)
  • 9. Red Alert 1 (good memories playing against my dad in this and friends online on 56k modems)
  • 10. Theme Hospital (I like organising things)
113  Other / Off-topic / Re: Top 10 pc game on: September 26, 2017, 04:58:32 PM
If it is of all time and just based on gameplay and not just graphics, then my list is really retro Tongue Listing here in no particular order, because it is way too difficult for me to post top 10 in order in all honesty. They are all great games and what game I prefer and have preferred have always depended on my mood at the time of playing;

- Doom (the original)
- Quake 2 (by far the best in the series)
- Quake 3
- Counter Strike 1.3 (yeah I am old Tongue)
- Rollercoaster Tycoon
- The Sims (Yes the first)
- Need for Speed Hot Pursuit (DEFINITELY the best one in the franchise by a landslide and I used to work at EA where I was testing much newer ones)
- League of Legends
- Warcraft III The Frozen Throne
- Red Alert 1

uh I also really would like to include these two as outsiders to that list:
- Black & White (Best God game ever made, hands down!)
- Theme Hospital (Just so addictive - the head popping is my favourite)

114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Signatum - New Algorithm - Fair Launch - No Premine on: September 26, 2017, 04:40:29 PM
¡Voy a comprar ahora !!

Hey man you may have some really great input, but we have no idea as it is in Spanish I reckon? Could you stick to English in the forum here please Smiley If you want to speak in a local post I completely understand mate, just please follow the main post and go to the link to the respective language instead and post in the local language there. Otherwise this will easily become confusing and difficult for people to follow if we have fifteen different languages posting in the main thread here Wink

Thanks for your input though! I hope it was positive Tongue
115  Economy / Economics / Re: When is the right time to buy bitcoin ? on: September 21, 2017, 09:39:19 PM
Whenever you feel comfortable investing really. Bitcoin has never been a safer investment than it is today. The reason for that is due to consumer confidence, coming from the extended media exposure it has received in the recent years, which has only grown more and more positive every single year. Consumer confidence in Bitcoin has probably never really been higher as far as I see it.
116  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Small investors now is your time! on: September 21, 2017, 09:34:34 PM
It is Bitcoin, there is never really a bad time to buy, even if the price is high. The question is just what value you get out of every dollar you invest into Bitcoin. Obviously the lower the price the better. Tomorrow or the day after, the price could go up but it could also go down. It depends on local regulations, world events, or the financial situations in key economies. There are so many factors influencing the price. But I am quite certain in saying that Bitcoin has never been a safer investment than it is today. Its momentum is just insane.
117  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin for Taxi on: September 21, 2017, 09:28:14 PM
I drive a taxi in Brooklyn NY and have a sign in the back saying I accept Bitcoin. Well, yesterday finally someone wanted to pay me bitcoins, we agreed on a price of .004 bitcoins but, guess what, it was going to cost him almost $6 in fees to send me $16. We had wallet settings on low fees and fees made doing the transaction unreasonable. He was using Jaxx wallet on Android phone. I was disappointed. This is a bad sign, Bitcoin is broken. He ended up paying me cash

Wow, wow wow! 6$ transaction fees just to pay a bill of $16? really? wow I had no idea that Bitcoin was actually that bad when it comes to fees. I have never used it for any service payments before so I had really no idea. I heard before that the fees were high, but this high? :O That leaves me speechless if that is really the case. I think I should look into this some more myself to better understand the fees and why that is - I cannot imagine fees are that high in all circumstances.
118  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So Bitcoin is better than Gold? on: September 21, 2017, 09:15:22 PM
Its potential gain is certainly better than gold, but whether is is safer than gold is something else entirely. Gold is tangible and it is also a very secure and stable investment. It is an alternative to the bank essentially and a place that many seek to when there is a huge financial downturn. In a financial downturn I doubt people want to jump to BTC, as they still see it as a riskier investment.
119  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to get bitcoin every days? on: September 21, 2017, 09:13:33 PM
$40 a day is a lot unless you intend to trade up and down as it fluctuates. There are alternatives to earning some money though, such as the online faucets (won't give you much). Referring people to exchange sites and earning a percentage of the commission. Mining (won't give you much), doing translations on the forum for ICOs and other coin related projects.
120  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: British Finance talk albout ICO , next like china ? on: September 14, 2017, 10:46:02 PM
There is no point in trying to ban ICOs or even cryptocurrencies for that matter. It is here to stay, the ICOs are new ways of crowdfunding projects nowadays. What it does require though is an actual legal framework instead.
