Linux Mint 32 bit (with the Cinnamon desktop), but as I'm looking, I'm actually a couple versions back at 14:

http://www.linuxmint.com/edition.php?id=117

Linux Mint doesn't do rolling releases or simple upgrades, didn't realize that and slipped a couple behind.

I'm upgrading to 16 today, will let you know if that changes anything.

(EDIT: During the upgrade to 16, relaunched Bitminter, which caused me to get an Iced Tea splash screen I'd never seen before, and now everything works as expected, Temp, animated gauge, all of it.

Tried to post this EDIT as a reply, but then it said I double posted it, now I can't find it... it might have ended up in the wrong thread, or it might appear here later. Weird.)

"javaws -viewer" shows me a list of trusted certificates, no java control panel.

java -version reports Java version 1.7.0_25, openJDK Runtime Environment of IcedTea 2.3.10, and OpenJDK Client VM of 23.7.b01.

Java control seems a little different on Linux Mint, but I deleted everything from /.icedtea/cache/ and I think that did the trick. I also threw a dist-upgrade in there, just to make sure everything's up to date.

After doing all that then re-launching the client, I am now getting a numerical hashrate. Nice!

(Still no temperature reading, and the animated gauge isn't animating. So I guess there were three bugs, one down.)

I won't be online for a bit, but would be happy to upload some more logs later tonight. Not sure where the other bugs are on your priority stack, but let me know if I can help.

Installed openjdk-7-jdk to get a jconsole.

Fired it up, connected it to the bitminter process, didn't seem to have any effect, whether started before or after.

Ran bitminter from the terminal, didn't seem to help either. I have a bunch of random exceptions for you if you like though:

http://pastebin.com/yqYf0q7s

eu.hansolo.steelseries.gauges.AbstractRadial.setValueAnimated(AbstractRadial.java:211)
and
"No interpolator found for java.lang.Double:java.lang.Double"
jumped out at me, but I'm not sure if those are significant or not.

It hashes, that's the important thing.

Thanks for the response, and best of luck.

(Sorry if this has been discussed, searching for Bitminter and temperature or hashes per second has just lead me to discussions of Bitminter's features.)

When using BitMinter with my BFL Jalapeno on Windows 7, I get to see the speedometer fire up and report the hashes per second, and I also get a readout on the device's temperature.

Now that I've moved the device to a simple Linux machine, BitMinter still identifies the device and launches it as a miner, but it constantly reports 0 hashes per second and provides no temperature data.

It is definitely mining, stats on bitminter are increasing, so this is really just a pretty minor thing, but I was wondering if it was a sign of something deeper, like a faulty USB cable or a missing Linux driver or anything.

Has anyone seen this behavior?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

(and apologies if this is really easy to find for people who know their way around the forums a little better Smiley )
