1. dump money into bitcoin without learning the market or the functionality/quirks of the exchanges 2. lose money 3. complain 4. ? 5. profit if you figure out the ?? let us know
And if you went short and made 10% overnight, you'd probably be quite smug about it.

I thought the max daily pip was 5.0?
This obvious scammer managed to take 1900 BTC
Where's that figure coming from?
Yes because currently Zhou desperately needs more USD to allow users to open more long positions and get rid of Mr. Starfish. He is, if you will, more INTERESTED in USD.
lol, we saw it coming
I certainly did I hope this goes without saying... but don't use passwords the same as or in anyway similar to any passwords you use anywhere else, if you already have, then change the passwords you have elsewhere.
you know, just in case.
I don't mean to toot my own horn but...

Two More Questions
1. What is the exact formula for Swap? My sums based on your descriptions aren't working out.
2. Why do you have differing Buy and Sell interest Rates for a single currency? My reasoning: If holding a currency earns you X% of balance then selling that currency should cost you X% too.
There's probably a lot more to question two than the simple way I've put it, I'd like to be set straight.
Where can I find the rate for currency that is not in position? I see rates for buy/sell, but not for funds alone. Or am I missing something?
For a currency balance the interest rate is the buy interest rate for that currency; It says so on the Bitcoinica Interest Rate Page: How does interest rate affect you? Currency account USD balance We pay you interest every day based on USD Buy interest rate, compounded daily.
Currency account BTC balance We pay you interest every day based on BTC Buy interest rate, compounded daily.
Do we receive interest on currency balances if even if those balances are being used in an open position?

I encourage you to make a better exchange website. Please do.
Are you fucking serious? Im sick of smart asses like you saying shit like that, I'm not saying I can do better, Im saying Im paying for a service that I think thus far Isnt fully worth the money. Fact of the matter is the mtgox system is now great, I love it, yubikeys great, falling fees with higher volume great, api great once it gets all the bugs out, they just need to stop making stupid mistakes like blocking half their customers and thus giving the other half an advantage in trading.

I actually did see that warning a little after it was posted, only by luck, people only check the support page if there's a problem... not for a maintenance schedule. This kind of stuff should be on gox frontpage.
Besides that this downtime is unrelated to the maintenance or the maintenance message was incorrect.
It is now UTC 16:41 (a good 8 hours after maintenance) and we've had no service at all for the past 4 hours at least... this is hardly "intermittent periods of latency". Gox is shit
