What? I woke up (in the UK) expecting to at least see something had happened. As I write, it's 3.45pm in Tokyo. Nothing new on the mtgox new-sfeed. I thought no news would be the worst news of all...but the price has barely changed. Does everyone really believe that an announcement is still coming in the last couple of hours of their working day? If you were in charge there, at 9am, wouldn't you at least have written something along the lines of 'announcement at 5pm'?

We all want more of our local bars, restaurants and shops to accept bitcoin, right?

Bitpay should offer an incentive for bitcoin enthusiasts to encourage their local businesses to accept bitcoin.

There could be a standard bitpay leaflet with a space for a unique code for each person doing the leg work and perhaps a 0.1 btc bounty for each merchant signed up.

True, but if you make sure your trade is the most attractive, you don't have to wait long in my experience.

If you're new to all this and wanting to buy bitcoins on localbitcoins, ignore the 'buy bitcoins online' section and instead go to 'post a trade'. By doing so, you will get a much better deal. eg, today's cheapest 'buy online' price is £495.94 (GBP), whereas you can get them for £478.10  by posting a trade.

I look at coinmap and am disappointed. There must be many more businesses who accept bitcoin out there who haven't yet added themselves to the map. I'm in the centre of the UK and I'd have to drive a very long way to even get a meal with my btc!

No, I want them to receive dollars into their bank without even necessarily knowing that I sent it in bitcoins. I need a US based service that will accept my bitcoins and pay the foundry in dollars.

I am a UK based sculptor using a foundry in Berkeley CA. Over the last 15 years I have paid $100,000's in foundry bills and been ripped off every time I pay their invoices by the intermediary banks. I want to try paying in bitcoins bit I'm fairly sure they'll want paying in dollars and won't want the hassle of setting up a bitpay account just for one client. Is there a way to use bitcoins for the transfer and have dollars paid into their bank account?

I posted this on facebook with a private key QR code. If we all did the same, I think it would generate a lot of interest

My kids will receive 1 bitcoin each this Christmas. They are all students and have not got any bitcoins so far. I wouldn't normally give out such a huge chunk of money to them but I believe that bitcoin will be a major story in their lives so I want them to be involved.

I'm pretty sure that there's a lot of people out there who are both speculators and users. I am currently more speculator than user, but as soon as bitcoin starts to become accepted in places I spend Stirling, I'll become a user. You can't bash people for not using something that they're unable to use. I'll be really excited to buy my first bitcoin pint!
