I think you're completly wrong with last point.
There already exists a lot of challenger, like litecoin, but they are 10km behind.
Moreover bitcoin have taken 5 years to emerge from nothing and it is now the first.
If a real challenger must be born and grown up, it must have several better features than bitcoin.
And even if it is possible, it will take at least 2 or 3 years to get to the first place.

Being the first is a great advantage : see microsoft, amazon, facebook, tweeter, etc...
Yes Google have beaten altavista and yahoo, but it had new concepts with true better features.

9  Economy / Speculation / Re: [ TIME FUNCTION EXTRAPOLATION ] bitcoin statistics on: January 14, 2014, 10:06:41 PM
In the stats module, and in the charts module of blockchain.info,
it seems that they use mtgox price,
even if it's not mentioned explicitly.
Usually, bitstamp is about 100$ less than mtgox, so it is not negligeable.

Thank you very  much, you're the king of bitcoins !!!
By the way, the red line, is it the price on Mtgox or on Bitstamp ?

Yes that's it.
If it possible, of course.

Hello
I wonder if you could establish a formula for the number of new addresses by day.
Using the blockchain, you can find the number of new addresses each day in the past from the beginning of bitcoin (in january 2009, I think).
You can also find the number of total addresses used in summing the previous ones.
This could give you the opportunity to find out a formula (probably exponential) that gives you the total number of addresses for each day in the past.
So in extrapolating, this formula to the future, and using your formula for the bitcoin price, you could estimate the price for each day in the  future.
What do you think ? Could you do that or is it impossible ?
13  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Arbitrage --- BITSTAMP---->MTGOX on: January 10, 2014, 09:48:42 AM
hello, I did it, arbitrage bitstamp to mtgox or better : btc-e to mtgox.
The problem is when you want to withdraw from mtgox.
I tried a USD withdrawal by SWIFT transfer, and 2 months later, still nothing, so I cancelled my withdrawal.
I tried in EUR by SEPA (only 1000 EUR by day and 10,000 per month), and it takes a long time (from 1 to 2 months) but it works.
But I don't do it anaymore, it's still too long to be usefull.
MTgox said it will improve its SEPA delay, but When I don't know !!!!

Hello
I supposed there will be 110,000 new addresses per day as it is about now.
So your formula gives me a price of about 6,000 $ at the end of 2014 year.
Do you agree ?

How do you calculate your sheet for each day ?
Is it a python program ?
Could you make it public ?
Thanks.
