Economy / Service Announcements / Re: New Bitsumo.com - Buy Online With Bitcoins

I just used Bitsumo last week for the first time and the experience was fantastic. Previously had been using snapcard, but they shutdown their buying service so I gave Bitsumo a try and couldn't have been happier. I wasn't sure at first since I couldn't find many reviews or info past August 2013 aside from this thread. Pablo was pleasant, very helpful and communicated what the service could and couldn't do in regards to credit card and shipping issues Bitsumo has to deal with from retailers. He recommended larger retailers, but I was still able to order from a smaller company. I received by order within a couple days. I ordered roughly $500 in gaming accessories and will be using Bitsumo again in the future.

Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin end up just like Litecoin?

The two aren't comparable. Bitcoin has earned its success through innovation, fundamentals, infrastructure all that. Litecoin has none of that and was just the 'me too, me too' coin riding Bitcoins coattails. Litecoin always was a ripoff shitcoin that had zero innovation. It got the attention it did because of good marketing 'silver to bitcoins gold' and timing in particular with the last bubble. I personally hope it dies the death it deserves as people flock to truly innovative altcoin whatever that might be.
Wow you sound pretty butthurt. People like you were spewing the same BS back in 2011 when LTC launched, then 2012, and then 2013... Now we are in 2014...no difference. lol Butthurt? No I’m not butthurt for evaluating litecoin when it first appears and simply putting more money into bitcoin. I was one of those people in 2011, then 2012, and then 2013... and now here in 2014. It has zero innovation, that can't be argued. Litecoin made some people good money, in some cases huge money, maybe it will make more people even more money. Good for them, they saw that opportunity from the marketing. Even I thought it was great marketing and could lead to a ‘me too’ coat tails chase. But the lack of innovation, the carbon copying of bitcoin, killed any interest on my part. The fundamentals were never there and still aren’t. I have a keen interest in the innovative alts, but I don't like seeing garbage succeed.

Economy / Speculation / Re: Question For Bitcoin OldTimers

when it was happening the general idea was that it would have no effect on price since we all knew it was going to happen long b4 it happened, it wasn't unexpected and there for "priced in" and that bitcoin was going up for far more compelling reasons.
i agree with this.
and its still true, we all know there will be less coins mined over time, it is infact a reason why people buy bitcoin in the first place (limited supply) therefor priced in at all times.
Yeah, this. It always seemed price in and no real effect afterwards. Oh June 2011 how long ago you now seem. I hope to look back on this summer with the same semi sorta fondness. "Damn that sucked when the expected bubble didn't happen and the price dropped in August. Well who cares since the price is now $25,436!"

This sure looks wierd. Whoever started the dump from cca $620 can't get back in at the moment, as there are far less sell orders to take us back than the amount that's been dumped since then. Someone is going to get burned hard IMO.
Probably had their bids preplanned and placed already awaiting others to panic and sell into them.

Miners, if you care about your own self interest and the source of your money, leave ghash. Keep being greedy, but do it intelligently, otherwise the dumb ghash greed will destroy you!

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MASTERCOIN VS NXT

I don't see NXT replacing BTC. I could see a future in which a couple cryptos co-exist. Visa, Mastercard, American Express.
I think there will be room for hundreds of altcoins in the future, each serving its own niche function. The reason why there are only 4 or 5 major credit card companies is because anything close to a competitor gets bought or legislated out of existence, similar to how Ebay and Amazon deal with other online merchants. Since cryptos are currencies and not companies they are not responsible to shareholders, they don't necessarily have motivation to swallow each other whole or knock each other out of business. For sure, hundreds will always exist, but I doubt more than a handful will reach a useful mainstream status and mean anything to the world economy.

Lol what a joke. No wallet for your smartphone? And some of you say the development team is better than bitcoin...
You must remember that BTC has had 5 years to grow. NXT has had 7 months and has made incredible growth but it is only 7 months. When I first heard of NXT I jumped on board immediately. I hadn't been that excited since first hearing of Bitcoin in June 2011. Back then there were no real venture capitalist investors, no angels, just people working their butts off to create the community and develop infrastructure. That is what NXT is doing right now. People believe in it far more than I've seen anyone believe in the alts. NXT isn't really an ALT ripoff coin anyway, all new code, second gen crypto. I don't see NXT replacing BTC. I could see a future in which a couple cryptos co-exist. Visa, Mastercard, American Express.
