1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUTO-SWITCH] Profit-switch auto-exchange pool: CleverMining.com on: February 18, 2014, 04:51:18 PM
i started mining this pool with my 6gpu rig but after a few hours cards 5 & 6 go dead, also these 2 cards sometimes hang at a low hashrate on startup

anyone else had this problem?
2  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / ubuntu cgminer wont start help !!! on: December 20, 2013, 10:15:48 PM
hi, im struggling with cgminer, im running ubuntu + 6x r9280x

when i put a config file in the .cgminer folder and start cgminer from .sh file i get fatal json error cant load config
if i remove config file and run .sh file then cgminer says - started cgminer 3.7.2 then just hangs there with flashing curser below

can anyone give me any pointers, i aint got a clue where to go from here

i managed to get the rig running for a day or two but it seemed to progressivley crash more and more + the card that the monitor is attached to kept not starting then saying sick

i have made about 3-4 fresh installs of ubuntu/cgminer/app-sdl/adl-sdk over the past couple of days but it still crashes on every boot, takes about 4-6 reboots just to get into the os

also having problems with infinite on/off loop on boot, does this point to insufficient power?

ive never used ubuntu before, is it know to be unstable/crashy or is it just me?

also is it ok to duplicate info i.e intensity gpu clock stuff like this in both the startup script.sh file and the .conf file?

3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / HELP setx: command not found -- --scrypt: unrecognized option on: December 17, 2013, 09:12:46 PM
hi, just setup my miner, but im having some problems with cgminer

running : ubuntu 12.04.03
catalyst 13.11 beta v9.4
amd-app-sdk v2.9
adl-sdl v6
cgminer 3.7

when i enter --scrypt or --thread-congruency or --lookup-gap cgminer wont load

it says:  [2013-12-17 21:01:18] ./cgminer: --scrypt: unrecognized option

if i delete these parts  it will start but rather than saying kh/s it says MH/s

can anyone also give me some pointers to make a config file for ubuntu do i save as .sh rather than .bat? im guessing there is more to it

seems like im stuck at the last hurdle,

any help greatly appreciated!!!

MY PSU is a Corsair AX 860 on the box it says it can run at 5.5 amps on 240v which equals 1320watts , isnt the efficiency already factored in to the 71 amps?
5  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 6 gpu add2psu configuration on: December 05, 2013, 01:52:33 AM
ok so each psu has a single 71a +12v rail

looking at this website http://www.kitguru.net/components/graphic-cards/zardon/sapphire-r9-280x-vapor-x-review/20/

each card draws 251w on furmark test, will this be similar to running mining software? call it 260w

so 260w/12v = 21.7a

71a / 21.7a = 3.27 gpu's per power supply

so i guess this means i will have to run 3 cards on each psu  so 71a-3x21.7a = 5.9a spare on each psu
so both psu combined = 11.8a at 12v = 141w to run cpu + ram + mobo

i assume that the add2psu will even out the remaining load between each psu as if only one psu was left to power the cpu + ram + mobo only 70w would be availiable

so on paper it seems to work out if the above info and calculations are correct, although a little tight

but most people seem to be saying im gonna need 2 x 1000w+ power supplies

after reading more about the psu i have found this comment in a review :

"As our testing has highlighted, both units when pushed hard will deliver much more wattage than their rating suggests. The Corsair AX860 managed to hold a 1000W load for quite some time which highlights that the internal design is pleasingly over specified."

im thinking of undervolting rather than overclocking, to use less power, i think my power bill will go up by £120 per month if running 24h

do i run the risk of damaging any components by not having enough power, or will my system just shutdown?

hi, im in the process of building my 6 x sapphire r9 280x vapor-x rig

currently i have 2 x corsair ax 860w psu's so 1720w total using an add2psu connector

do you think 1720w will be enough to power these cards, ive heard they are about 250w each when undervolted so gpu's will total 1500w

so that leaves 220w to run cpu (55w) + ram + mobo, i wont have a hard drive as i will be running from usb stick and no fans apart from cpu cooler

i also need to find out which cards should be connected to each psu, each card requires 2 x 8 pin connectors

should i run the motherboard 24pin and 2 cards from one psu and 4 cards from the other psu
or
should i run 3 cards from each psu
or
should i use 1x8 pin from each psu on each card?

i dont have powered risers, can i solder a molex connector to my un powered ones? or will the motherboard be able to handle the power of 6 gpu's?

any help would be much appreciated, im just trying to figure out possible problems before hand so i can piece the thing together fairly swiftly when the rest of the bits arrive

id say you will never be able to mine 1btc with 716kh/s if mining btc

which altcoins are you mining? prices seem so volatile i think im going to mine a few different types day to day, and trade as quickly as poss for btc/ltc

hi, what is the stability of your card like? what os are you running on and which version of catalyst and amd sdk? i found this thread the other night https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=3648.0

i know it relates to the 7970 card but the driver version may have the same effect on the 280x

i have just purchased sapphire's version of this card, im just waiting for a couple of components before i can start experimenting

719kh/s seems pretty good to me though

would you be able to use https://transferwise.com to solve this problem?
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Alt-Coins on: December 03, 2013, 07:58:29 PM
Thanks for the warning... I will keep to BTC because it's way more stable than Alt-Coins.

Finally , somebody thinking right what to do with his money.

I am mining Alt-Coins as they have the best chance of any returns but am playing safe by converting my coins into BTC at the first opportunity.

Doing the same but keep a small portion as well to invest.

this is my plan exactly, how is this working out compared to pools that mine altcoins and pay out in btc? do you think its worth the extra work and risk?

im a little worried that i will build up a good amount of alt coins and not be able to exchange them for something a little more stable before they flop
13  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Any hardware for script mining coming soon? on: December 03, 2013, 07:47:24 PM
hi, i have been looking around the web for dedicated scrypt mining boxes and have found the following options

http://alpha-t.net/

http://www.cryptoindustries.com/

http://scryptasic.org/

cant vouch for the integrity of any of these companies, and no one seems to have any hardware released yet
