601  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: predictions for next hack on: August 03, 2012, 10:30:28 PM
IDK about their mixing service... is hacking the later that profitable?

Not much is stored in the mixer, 100's rather than 1000's.

As for the wallet service it would be very difficult for any intruder to modify the client side js unnoticed. Multisig support is not far off anyway.

Thanks for the votes of confidence Tongue

Surely a year without any security issues counts for something?

Ignore the bit about the fees.

Can any users confirm GBP withdrawals are clearing?
605  Other / Off-topic / Re: Blockchain.com on: July 29, 2012, 08:44:22 PM
Just e-mail him at:
6e5cca004afd476fb202080a04a2d443.protect@whoisguard[dot]com
I guess all e-mails you send to that e-mail will go the domain owner inbox, so you can talk to him Tongue

P.S: Don't forget to replace the [dot]!

Thanks but I tried that already. Sent several messages but no response so far.

This is my own address. I guess this is on the whois for blockchain.info but i'm looking to acquire blockchain.com.
606  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Blockchain.info fees still apply to addresses in same wallet? on: July 26, 2012, 02:20:07 PM
Send bitcoin from your wallet to another bitcoin address. All transactions include a 0.005 BTC miners fee.

Damn decimals confusing me. The documentation is wrong it is 0.0005 BTC.

Quote
public static final BigInteger DefaultMerchantFee = BigInteger.valueOf((long) (BitcoinTx.COIN * 0.0005)); //0.0005 BTC Fee
607  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Blockchain.info fees still apply to addresses in same wallet? on: July 26, 2012, 02:13:37 PM
Don't you mean 0.005?

It should have recently been changed to the correct value (0.0005).
608  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Blockchain.info fees still apply to addresses in same wallet? on: July 26, 2012, 02:04:19 PM
How do I do this from the merchant api?

There currently isn't a way to set the fee in the merchant api. It's always fixed at 0.0005 BTC for every transaction regardless of whether it is between the same wallet.
609  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Blockchain.info fees still apply to addresses in same wallet? on: July 26, 2012, 01:49:03 PM
Unless sending anonymously there is no blockchain.info fee.

The miners fee is optional (but recommended) and depends of the transaction size / freshness of the coins (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Transaction_fees).  To send without a miners fee use the custom send form and choose "Continue without Fee" when asked.

There used to be the option to select an additional address for the fee out of but that is gone now. You can choose two from addresses instead to partially replicate the functionality.
610  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info - Bitcoin Block explorer & Currency Statistics on: July 20, 2012, 11:12:40 PM
Whoever made an anonymous transaction to SatoshiDICE thats not a good idea. Any winnings will be automatically sent back to 1dice causing a endless loop until the eventually the house wins.

You did win twice in a row though. http://blockchain.info/address/15GvJVi9mhcgWNEUUqXDvY44L87d4BzPZN

Bonus is up btw.

Surely it would be the web page containg the payment link that would be shared.
What if you don't want to rely on a 3rd party site, just have a desktop client automatically open.
611  Other / Off-topic / Blockchain.com on: July 20, 2012, 01:40:37 PM
I'm trying to reach the owner of blockchain.com, you can probably guess as to why.

5 BTC reward to anyone who can put me in touch with the owner.
612  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info - Bitcoin Block explorer & Currency Statistics on: July 20, 2012, 01:31:35 AM
Can you also add a public page with a status of all these instances ( up and running or down ) and counts-down to the restart on all of them?

You can glean a bit of that information from http://blockchain.info/status_check which is the script pingdom monitors. Restart times are not available to the web interface since it's literally just a bash script script that kills bitcoind every few hours.

While I'm sure this message from the chrome extension is benign, it's still a bit scary.

Why does the extension now require these permissions?

The permissions were reverted back to their old permissions after the RPC interaction functionality was moved to a separate extension. The extension can only read data at blockchain.info, www.blockchain.info and local.blockchain.info (Points to localhost for development).

Is there any reason Blockchain.info should continue displaying a QR code that contains a broken URI?

Because bitcoin: would not work with some of the social media share links, I think Facebook and G+ would accept bitcoin:// links but not bitcoin:

I really don't think it is a big deal. Nearly all APIs where you register a protocol handler register the prefix e.g. "bitcoin" not specifying bitcoin:// or bitcoin: so it seems logical that software should support both. Adding support to Bitcoinj (which blockchain uses) was a one line addition uriString = uriString.replace("bitcoin://", "bitcoin:");

It's not quite a one line change because it also needs changing on the android and iPhone app.

All i'm requesting is a option to set the default Return Change address to the Sending Address

Will do.

also, please add feature to massimport private keys from text file.
i have vanitygen running and sometimes it finds 200 matching addresses

I think it would be better to add support for the vanitygen format. What does the output look like? JSON?
613  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain.info "firstbits" changing/disappearing?! on: July 19, 2012, 10:52:11 PM
Firstbits are recaculating should be restored in a few hours:

614  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Automatic Coin Mixing Idea on: July 19, 2012, 10:50:57 PM
Nice idea. But it could be fairly easy for someone with good connectivity to de-anonymoize transactions. If for example someone with the address 1NotMixed keeps broadcasting his address as suitable for mixing every transaction that involves that address you know that the other output was the real destination address. Even if it is a chain of mixed transactions every one they manage to involve themselves in increases the likelihood of predicting the final destination address.

Or not necessarily using the same address, but unique addresses and sending back to 1NotMixed after.
615  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: blockchain.info anonimizer eats coins and behaves weird on: July 19, 2012, 02:44:17 PM
Note that this morning blockchain.info didn't have any information about the last few hundreds blocks, so it might well have crashed while having pending transactions that should have been (re)propagated.

This was the problem and it should now have been resolved.
616  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info - Bitcoin Block explorer & Currency Statistics on: July 19, 2012, 02:29:22 PM
My solution: create a script which kills and restarts it periodically Cheesy

Good idea, This seems like the best solution for the time being. It's strange though because until recently bitcoind would run fine for a week or more without a restart.

It probably takes a long time to restart, breaking things while it's down.

The site runs several instances so as long as they are not all restarted at the same time there shouldn't be any issues.
617  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info - Bitcoin Block explorer & Currency Statistics on: July 19, 2012, 09:52:00 AM
Apologies for the downtime. It's something to do with Bitcoind, every morning I wake up and it's consuming 8GB RAM and 100% CPU.

Bonus Temporarily Increased to 1%
619  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info - Bitcoin Block explorer & Currency Statistics on: July 16, 2012, 01:00:01 PM
bought large amounts of btc and just for the heck of it gave the last customer an anonymous address, happened to be a 710 btc transaction, thought nothing of it...

Refunded

I logged in again an hour later and the banner that talks about the bonus being available on the 'transactions' no longer shows up.  So I'm guessing the bonus was no longer available when I made my payment, but the transactions tab hadn't been updated to stop advertising the bonus.

Probably the best way to see if the bonus is active is http://blockchain.info/wallet/send-anonymously the javascript interface might lag behind slightly. The bonus is active again now, approximately 15 BTC to payout.

Another slight oddity in the Android App which hasn't happened to me before - I withdrew 5BTC from Intersango to my wallet (TX: http://blockchain.info/tx-index/12315903/2b83952cd981a415cc3fa831d13b1d4bc203793a2b029294e9acdbe00ed082fc) and while the increased balance *does* appear in the app, the received transaction itself doesn't.

The TX shows up in the web version of the wallet, and I believe I got a notification on my phone to say it had been received. I don't remember getting an e-mail about receiving the funds though, which I think I usually do.

Let me know if any more info is useful...

Thank you for the bug report. The android app is getting a bit of a re-write, including a lot of the synchronisation code,
620  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info - Bitcoin Block explorer & Currency Statistics on: July 15, 2012, 12:30:16 PM
I tried this out with 3BTC expecting 3.015 back. So far I've gotten 2 tx back that total 2.9996. Was I charged the miners fee twice or am I just waiting for another tx of .0154?

It can sometimes be a bit delayed, let me know if you still haven't received it in in an hour.

The miners fee depends on how many times the mixer decides to split the transaction. The base fee is 0.0002 BTC because the minimum split is two, if your tx gets split into 4 the miners fee will be 0.0004 etc. It depends not the size and random variables.

Will it ever happen that it switches from bonus mode to charging mode after an address to pay is generated? Or does the right to a bonus stick with any address generated during bonus time?

No the bonus is recorded in the forwarding entry at the time of creation. However if the backlog of paying transactions has cleared by the time your tx gets used then the bonus may not be paid (only the miners fee will be charged).

any chance to be refunded since the fee wasn't advertised?

If you genuinely didn't know about the fee then yes, please PM me an address.
