1  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [180 GH/sec] MineCo.in - PPLNS 0% Mining on: July 17, 2011, 09:05:40 PM

Can I haz new block plees?
2  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [150 GH/sec] MineCo.in - PPLNS 0% Mining on: July 12, 2011, 03:27:26 PM
I rethought the PPLNS system last night and think I overlooked an important aspect.

Say the pool is in the middle of a block of usual "length". When you leave at this point, you will get not credit at all for that block. But if you join the next day, the pool is in the middle of such a block again, you will get full credit for that one, even though you haven't mined since the beginning of that round.

Thats exactly what Reikoku said a few posts back, I must have overlooked that too, sry Embarrassed.

So this method shouldn't be disadvantageous for non 24/7 miners after all.
3  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [150 GH/sec] MineCo.in - PPLNS 0% Mining on: July 11, 2011, 07:31:09 PM
I'm not a genius @ math, but my instinct tells me, that when I shut my sys down over night, I will typically, or often, lose all the shares that were generated for the last round, whereas with Menis algo, I won't be losing any shares, but the ones for that round will be worth less when a block is found, becuz thats how it works.

So why should non 24/7 miners stay at this pool? Plz let me know Cheesy.

Lol thats my prob mate - I'm a 16/24 miner at most Wink.

You do realize this method theoretically gives you what you're supposed to get for the 16/24 hours right?

The method isn't meant to "punish" pool-hoppers but rather not provide any benefit to do so.

No, I'm not realizing it. There are theoretical constellations where the payout would be fair but most times it won't.

I do realize, that the "original" method isn't completely fair to non 24/7 miners either, but its more so than PPLNS for sure.

Not everyone is on IRC - I was for the longest time but chose to step back from it.

Anyway, I remember I asked you about fair scoring the day I joined and pointed you to the original method for fair scoring, also know as the "score method". You replied, that it was "way too complex".

Other pools, however, are running with this algo, namely: Slush, BTCMine, Continuum and a few others - these are huge pools so it can't be impossible to implement it in a practical way.

If you guys talked about it though and you think the method you are using now is fine, thats OK - there are plenty of other pools around for me. If you should change it sometime, I will prob come back.
7  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [150 GH/sec] MineCo.in - PPLNS 0% Mining on: July 11, 2011, 05:31:25 PM
Too bad you chose the lame and deprecated Eligius approach to "fair" scoring, Wuked. I was on this pool since before the first block was found, but this forces me to go back to BTCMine Cry.
8  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining with semi-defective cards? on: July 10, 2011, 04:23:13 PM
Hmm ok, seems like the idea wasn't as good as I thought then Grin.

Thanx for the input and good luck in re-selling your card um0rion Wink.
9  Bitcoin / Mining / Mining with semi-defective cards? on: July 09, 2011, 11:01:32 PM
Some ppl are selling graphics cards with failures, such as the displayed image contains artifacts, weird patterns of random colored pixels or turns all green after a few seconds, etc.

Has anyone experience with such cards? How are the chances that cards with issues like that are still good for mining?
10  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [100 GH/sec] MineCo.in - LP,EU Server,SSL,JSON API,0% TAX on: July 06, 2011, 07:44:01 PM
i like the new statistics

Me too Cheesy.

Btw.: any of you guys have a payout for block 17 and/or 18 in your wallet yet? Its 2 hours since the site told the payout was made, but it didn't show up in my wallet as of now.

EDIT: never mind, it just showed up, after almost 2 1/2 hours, OMG Grin.
11  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [50GH/sec] MineCo.in - LP,EU Server,SSL,JSON API,0% TAX on: June 28, 2011, 03:49:18 PM
I think he (or she) is saying that when we had a block that took 3 days to crack you weren't telling people it was a good time to join in... but now you are almost inviting poolhoppers...

Ppl can see that we are on a new block anyway. Its just that some miners where switching pools because of that long block and we could need new blood to replace them - I believe that was Wukeds intend.

So come and join in if you're not a pool hopper - we have a great community on IRC going too Cheesy.

Exactly, the "score" method is the way of the future and its the most fair one. Especially now that Multipool offers an easy way to exploit the regular proportional pools.
14  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [New] Please Test! MineCo.in - LP,EU Server,SSL,JSON API,0% TAX on: June 16, 2011, 09:12:15 PM
Awesome pool - just started mining here and didn't have a single stale share yet with 250 total submitted. I never got below at least 2% rejected shares on any other pool I tried.

Did you give the server steroids or whats going on Wuked? Very nice Cheesy!
15  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [Pool] SIMPLECOIN.US (Temporarily offline) on: June 11, 2011, 07:48:28 PM
Yea, me too. This is a great pool, when its running Wink.
16  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [Pool] SIMPLECOIN.US (0% fee, Cheat-proof, Inst/Auto Pay, LP, JSON, Opensource) on: June 11, 2011, 06:04:55 PM
Simplecoin - I think it will be best, if you keep the pool offline for a few days, fix the DDoS vulnerability and make it more stable.

If you let it run the way it currently does, you will scare away your entire userbase Undecided.

Any chance, you will be implementing a cheat-proof scoring method in the future? Its the only thing holding me back to mine with your pool.

Cheat-proof? How do you envision someone cheating on a proportional payout system?
