That's fine with me, as this is quite an anarchistic viewpoint, but not Marxist. Ultimately they want to model the whole of society in the most reasonable and scientific (materialistic) advanced way. At best they might acknowledge your point (and other anarchistic concepts) as a possible viable strategy in the on-going class struggle. (The whole discussion on the ultra-left is ultimately only about the strategy of how to get there, how to reach the classless society. The idea with the temporary dictatorship of the proletariat was a failure. )

And they were correct until Satoshi invented a solution the Byzantine General's problem with proof-of-work.
Non sequitur for me. Crypto-currencies are many things but they won't annul the theories and efforts of Marxists, even with proper anonymity, quite the contrary in fact, as they strive for equality (in the results! "From each according to their ability, to each according to their needs") and total(itarian?) transparency.

Marxists would usually argue that this kind of "Capitalism (freedom)" actually can't exist. It would always concentrate wealth in the hands of the few, and if the Bourgeoisie had no state to protect their interests and their property, it would create one (which would be a concise summary of history, hence the Marx/Engels theory of Dialectical Materialism, with the Synthesis being the natural and inevitable outcome at some point in the future of society's evolution: the classless society, i.e. (stateless) communism).

Economy / Speculation / Re: The truth is out: money is just an IOU, and the banks are rolling in it

Money doesn't have to be backed by material resources, like gold. If we're on an island that has no gold, should we suspend all trading and starve? Obviously not. The issue is, as with everything, about trust. The problem is not that money is "just an IOU". Every LETS works like that. The problem is who controls the issuance of those IOUs, and the rules that come with it, and the deliberate complexity and bureaucracy that allows parasites to suck off wealth on each level of the pyramid. In a LETS, if I'm a plumber, I can trade one hour of my plumbing work against one hour of your plumbing work. In today's system, I pay the plumber 10 times more per hour than my own hourly wage. Go figure.

It's much easier to control someone who believes that they are a meat computer, than someone who believes that they might be a fractal shard of something infinite.
So which of those then is the "Bitcoin being" whose fate this thread ultimately is about?

Bitcoin / Press / 2014-03-06 Gnostic Media - An Interview with Thomas Hunt - "Mad Bitcoins" - #192

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDOwrM1qOJgToday Thomas Hunt joins the Gnostic Media podcast to discuss "Mad Bitcoins". This episode is being released on Thursday, March 06, 2014, and was recorded yesterday.
What's with all the mainstream media hype lately over Bitcoin? What is Bitcoin? What is Mt. Gox? Is Mt. Gox the same as Bitcoin? Or is that equivalent to saying Enron, or Bernie Madoff, or Al Capone, is the dollar? Is Bitcoin really only used by drug smugglers and pornographers? Is it really a government conspiracy for a global digital currency? A Ponzi scheme? Is it really unbacked by anything? Is it something we should fear because it's not supported by the Government, which brought us the dollar that's lost most of its value through usury and inflation? (Note: This is the same government that bailed out the banks in 2008 - the failed banks. The same government that prints the money and then takes 1/3rd of it back each year.)
You've probably heard most, if not all, of these exaggerations.
What if, instead of believing and spreading propaganda and fear, we got informed on what Bitcoin really is? I've personally done over 6 months research in preparation for doing some shows on this topic.
Today Thomas Hunt joins us from Mad Bitcoins. Mad Bitcoins is a daily YouTube news show covering the exciting world of cryptocurrency. Watch and Subscribe at YouTube. Host Thomas Hunt also moderates a more serious weekly Bitcoin panel discussion entitled "The Bitcoin Group" available at TheBitcoinGroup.com and is hard at work on the new WorldCryptoNetwork.com.
