1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Pool][Profit-Switch][Optional Auto-Exchange per Coin][Vardiff] ~ Hashcows on: January 18, 2014, 08:35:37 PM
Not trying to sound pushy or impatient - I understand things take time.  I've been bouncing between here and MC for quite some time.  I was on Hashco.ws until sometime on Tuesday, and have been on MC since.  My balance is stuck at 0.08 and change, although I know I had ~4mh here on the day it became stuck.  Also, when re-pointed my rigs, there were at least a few immature RPC rounds and other immature rounds.  Surely there has to be something waiting for me?

I posted a few pages back, and did send a support e-mail on Thursday.  I can't imagine the work and stress you guys are dealing with - and again, I'm not asking you to drop everything and focus on me - but it does seem that something is "off" - and I don't know if it's just with my account or with the pool in general, or if I'm just missing something.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is it worth to start mining ? on: January 17, 2014, 07:23:38 PM
Don't do the trading route though.  If you lose it, you lose it all.  If you go hardware and lose it, then at least you have the hardware to sell back.

I've heard this quite a bit, and it's true to an extent...  However, if the "bubble bursts" - do you think the market will support the thousands of 7950s and 280x's that would end up on eBay?  You will get something, but it will definitely be a buyer's market.

Good morning Cows.  Did payouts occur yesterday?  I logged in this morning and my exchanged balance and BTC balance haven't increased from yesterday.

Ok HASHCOWs - I am out of business with U

I think this is a great SCAM - mining for 0.003xxxxx BTC / MHs you can forget.

I will immediatley point my rig to another pool. I WILL NOT PAY FOR OTHERS ACCUSED LOSSES!

I started ion 26th of december - got 0.025 @ 1.4MHs - and stayed here since all your troubles!

BUT this is NOT correct what you are doing!

BYE!

Goodbye!  And please, when you find a pool that can also magically influence the altcoin market, let us know.

Do coins go straight to the exchange as they mature?  One thing I've seen with other multi-pools is that the coins get held on to until after profitability drops, so coins get exchanged at a lower value than when mined.  For new low-diff coins, it seems like the values often drop pretty quick.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][POOL][Profit-switching][Auto-exchange] ScryptPool.com on: January 14, 2014, 03:48:07 PM
Your unpaid balance: 0.00000000, unexchanged balance: 0.00299646, immature balance: 0.00007694

This seems lower than the other multipools I have been trying by just under 50%.  Is there something I am missing in these numbers?  Is there an exchanged value that is not displayed here?

I received my first payout today - 0.019 and some change.  I've had 1.8mh average at the pool for roughly 36 hours.  It does seem a little low but I'm going to keep at it for a bit.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: January 13, 2014, 03:15:18 AM
Guys...
Im having a problem here and i cant see to find the problem...

....

I think the rudeness is because there have been a lot of people posting non-Middlecoin related posts in this thread, and it's becoming increasingly difficult to sort the relevant bits from the rest of the noise in here.  There is an entire "Mining" subforum specifically for help with mining.  I would suggest posting there to seek help.

Nice looking site and low latency to your stratum host.  Pointing one rig your way to try things out.

USEast server is down

1) h2o did say that they are beta and could go down anytime until they are considered out of beta.

2) it's working fine for me.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Good value GPU's? on: January 08, 2014, 10:38:50 PM
I can't speak to risers, I've been afraid to use them and refuse to pay current prices for them.  (I have a few 16x to 16x unpowered that do the job of separation just fine though)

As far as cards, the 7790 is under $100 typically and puts out about 225-235kh/sec, and by my calculations (based on the litecoin hardware page), the 7790's have the lowest power draw (over 3kh/sec/watt).  You could squeeze 4 of them and a motherboard/cpu comfortably on a 450-500 watt p/s.

The 270x is over 450kh/sec and they can be found for under $200.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 20 rigs with 4 7970's and power questions. on: January 07, 2014, 10:33:43 PM
25,000 watts at 120 volts is over 200 amps.  Unless you locate in a commercial space that is equipped for that sort of power, you will need the utility service upgraded.  If you are talking about locating in "a garage", that suggests residential for me.  Most homes in the US are on 100 or 200 amp service for the *whole house*.

That's a lot of heat to move too...  The power and cooling restraints will be more of a challenge than building and racking the rigs I suspect.

If you locate in a data center, usually 60+ amps of service per rack is no big deal, and they already have the environmentals taken care of.  You would just need to design around a standard rack-mount case, or build your own frames that fit in a standard 42" rack.

Will I be ok to run 2x 290 on that mobo without risers to start? Been a long time since I built any PC's so don't want to burn anything out.

Should be.  Use the 2 PCI-e 16x slots the furthest away from each other to maximize the space in-between.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Multipools......the real coin killers? on: January 07, 2014, 10:07:33 PM
The multi pool I'm in (I believe it's the biggest currently) has been bouncing between LTC and DOGE a lot...  Both have a lot of holders (I believe?) and both have an already high hash rate.  I do not think the pool spends much time on small coins, if any.

I saw a few posts in "the other multipool's" thread where someone accused the pool of screwing up diff on a young coin.  However, the pool had only mined that coin once in 24 hours, only for a few minutes, and didn't find any blocks.

And, finally - multipool or not, there are two things that are fixed with altcoins (at least the scrypt ones I'm aware of)

1) The # of coins generated remains roughly the same regardless of hashpower.  The block time is the block time.  Multi pools don't make more coins, they just sell them faster than someone who is holding them.

2) When a multipool mines and sells coins, the coins don't cease to exist.  Yes, it may lower short-term demand, but whoever bought the coins on the exchange is going to do something with them.

If a coin is a strong one, I believe it will survive the multi pools.  If anything is damaging alts, it's the alts themselves.  Having set up a few coin daemons and compiled from source, I can say that it's hard to find any substantial differences between many of them.  Some don't even bother to change the name of the coin they are ripping off in the documentation.  The innovative ones will win.

Me?  I personally split the difference.  I have a little over half of my hashpower on a multipool (I have to pay for hardware and electricity after all), and the other half I'm bouncing between a few coins that I have faith in.  For those few coins, I'm in for the long run.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Check my spec's on: January 07, 2014, 05:03:39 AM
I might have gone with a larger power supply for 3x cards.  2x is fine.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ram on: January 06, 2014, 09:34:26 PM
One of my miners has 1gb and it works like a champ, all cards putting out what they should.  Memory use never goes above 50% and never dips into swap space.  I'm running Linux though, if on a Windows box, RAM requirements might be higher.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alt’s will be completely diluted by shitcoins on: January 06, 2014, 09:20:08 PM
In the early days of the auto industry, there were dozens of auto manufacturers in the US alone.  Now there are three (two?  one?) dominant ones.

Same will happen with digital currencies.  There will be a few prominent ones and a couple of "botique" ones.  Certainly not 70+.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: We set up middlecoin miner about 12 hours ago on: January 06, 2014, 01:48:54 AM
middlecoin.com will not show you on the stats page for awhile - a few hours I believe.  You also won't get a graph (i.e. the number at the far right linked to your own graph page) until after a payout.

As others have said, check your settings compared to the litecoin info page (even though it is at the litecoin site, the information applies to middlecoin.com mining and all scrypt coins).  If everything is working, your A: should increase, your R: should be 5% or less of A:, your HW: should be 0.  Your kh/sec should be within the ballpark of what others are listing at the litecoin hardware page.

That looks fantastic!
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][NET] New Netcoin Pool Launched - Pool fees waived as a promotion on: January 05, 2014, 01:37:06 AM
I, too, announced a new NET pool yesterday with no real takers at 0% fees.  A few people threw some hashes our way but not for long.  I can't blame them, at current diff for NET, a few MH/sec isn't going to cut it.

I agree that NET is consolidated to just 2 or 3 pools, and thought another pool would be a good thing.  It's only been a day.  Build it and they will come.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: XFX 7950 & 7970, are they any good on: January 05, 2014, 01:33:59 AM
I have an XFX 7950 and it's working just fine.  I did not modify the BIOS because, unlike my other 7950's, it doesn't have the "safety switch" to toggle between 2 BIOSes.  It sits at around 78c with no undervolt and gives me about 625kh/sec with modest overclock.
