42  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which currency would you prefer to mine?, don't know what to choose from on: December 23, 2013, 01:56:10 PM
You have three options to answer this question...

1) Do some research yourself, read the forum threads over the last several days to see what is popular/trending/etc.

2) Use sites like coinwarz.com or coinchoose.com to gauge profitability - both sites compare current difficulty and exchange prices to determine what is most profitable at this very second, although neither site is perfect.

3) Use a pool that makes the profitability decisions for you and pays out on BTC daily.  I have used http://hashco.ws and http://middlecoin.com and I like both of them.

I would recommend #3 until you get comfortable and #1/#2 as a longer term strategy.
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mining Hardware Suggestions - Looking at 7850's for the first time instead of 79 on: December 22, 2013, 04:03:07 PM
Go for 4x R9 270x

I second that.  The 270x are still pretty easy to find at not-ridiculously-inflated-prices.  I'm not running any myself but a good friend of mine has a 4x 270x rig pushing about 1.7Mh/sec easily - not too far off from what you'd get for 3x 7950, and at today's prices, probably at 1/2 to 2/3 of the cost. He's not even using risers.
44  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I have 93 computers (i7 4gb RAM, no GPU) to start mining... Please help... on: December 22, 2013, 03:54:48 PM
If ppl just try to help ... forum would be more clean... (bla.. bla.. bla.... energy... bla bla bla .. overkill... bla bla bla... will be fired.... lol)

You're right - the legitimate suggestion that you are most likely jeopardizing your career and livelihood is not helpful at all.  I should stay on topic, I'm so sorry.  I look forward to hearing about how well this goes for you.  Please report back in a couple of months on how it all worked out.

Hey thanks GarbageName. I'm almost too fossilised to try xubuntu, and this is just a one-off gpu in my windoze home pc. even messing with cgminer stretches my tiny mind, but I'll give 3.3.4 a try first...

You might like to try BAMT too:

https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=2924.0

It's basically Linux, AMD drivers, and cgminer all pre-built for you.   Just write the image to a USB drive using the directions above and set your PC to boot off of USB (if it's not already).  Plug the USB flash drive into your PC and reboot when you want to mine, reboot with the flash drive removed when you want to run Windows.

I'm not familiar with mining on Windows, so I can't say if you will have better luck/performance, but it shouldn't take you more than 30 minutes to try BAMT and see how it works out for you.

Loving that it's got buzz, community, and a lighter side.
47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Who else is holding on to DOGE long term? on: December 20, 2013, 04:37:13 AM
The three big multipools are around 15 GH/s. That means almost two-thirds of the entire network is auto-selling their coins almost immediately after mining them.

FWIW, I use Hashco.ws but have DOGE set to not autoconvert - instead I send it to my wallet for holding.  I get the impression that many other users are doing the same, but I could be wrong.
48  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Who else is holding on to DOGE long term? on: December 20, 2013, 03:15:32 AM
I've been sending about 1/3 of my hashpower towards doge and am planning to hold on to my coins for awhile.  Wow.

Manual payout is up.

I requested a manual payout a couple of hours ago.  Is it possible that the cronjob is hosed up again?

at the moment, it is not worth mining anything.
coins are ALL dropping in value like a turd from a pelicans ass.

I hope everyone believes you and shuts their GPUs down.  It would be nice to have some lower diffs across the alts.

Have you read this?

http://www.gobitgo.com/articles/1001/How-To-Correctly-Use-and-Install-PCI-E-Riser-Cables/

As I understand it, when using 1x risers, you sometimes need to jumper two pins on the motherboard socket.

Just to be complete:

https://www.bbqpool.net

Stratum, Vardiff, Rock Solid.. And everything else you need... For BBQCoin..

I've used bbqpool.net, and his older pool (bigbbq.cc).  Highly recommended.  No affiliation, just thought I'd throw out some props.
