1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Games crashing after I've used CGMiner on: March 19, 2014, 03:38:43 PM
Let me say first that I have no problems normally with mining and get about 480KH/s from my 6950 (unlocked to 6970) @880/1350Mhz, with no H/W errors.

However, if I've been mining and then stop and play a game, it will invariably lock up the PC after 30-60mins and I have to hard reset. There's no BSOD, just everything freezes as it is. If I reboot after mining, before gaming, I never have any crashes.

I've been using 850/1300Mhz for gaming as I found it unstable at higher clocks, which I'd accepted but now seems strange considering that CGMiner must be pushing the card harder than any game and that has no problems at 880/1350Mhz.

I've also noticed that after I've been gaming, if I try and start mining it's stuck at 20-30KH/s and again I have to reboot to get it working normally again. I'm sure this has only started happening very recently and I had no problems mining after gaming before.

Is there anything I can do to "reset" the GPU or drivers, so that I don't have to keep rebooting and closing everything I have open? Or is there a fix for this, so that I don't have to do anything?

I'm running Cat 12.8 as I've found it's the most efficient (for gaming) with my 6950 but there's not a lot in it between that and Cat 13.9 so I don't mind upgrading again if that's the solution.

Incidentally, I just did a fresh install of Win8.1 and was gaming in that OC'd to 880/1350 (by accident, I forgot what was stable in Win7) and that locked up. I haven't mined or even installed any mining software under Win8, so this is nothing to do with CGMiner but just shows that for some strange reason, mining but not gaming is fine at those clocks.
2  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGWatcher 1.3.5, a GUI/monitor for CGMiner & BFGMiner to help minimize downtime on: February 05, 2014, 09:39:20 PM
I'm having a problem with the idle detection. I've set it to switch to I:15 when not idle and I:19 when idle but it tends to only detect not idle once and after switching back up to I:19 never switches back down again.

I have to untick and retick the entry in Schedule and then it instantly detects and switches down but then doesn't work again next time.

I was using 1.3.3 but just updated to 1.3.5 and it's the same.

Let me know if there's any info you need to help debug this problem.

Regarding DOGE, you might want to read the discussion in the multipool thread, as it seems that the returns are about 30% less than would be expected on several pools, so that may make it less profitable than some other coins:

It seems the est. unexchanged balance isn't working properly yet, as mine's shown the same since I started mining 8 hours ago, or at least hasn't changed since the end of the first round after I started.
Stats are not working, it was explained several pages ago Cheesy  Nearmiss is out for a couple of weeks (correct me if I am wrong on this) and he is the primary developer of the new site, so, no stats of any kind for 2 weeks at least!.

still, last payment was VERY good, auto payout works perfectly, so... for now, just mine and collect Smiley they will get it right soon.

OK, cool. I only mentioned it as it says above the stats that they'll be keeping an eye on them over the next couple of days to ensure accuracy Wink

My percentage of Discarded Shares seems rather high on hashcows today. I understand this indicates shares that were considered invalid and thus not worked on, so I guess it shouldn't affect how many shares I'm submitting or my earning potential should it?

Basing things on Coinwarz estimates might not be the best measure guys. Not saying your wrong but you need to look at something more concrete than an estimate on one website.

If Coinwarz is wrong then fair enough but at least people should be aware to ignore what it estimates.

I've seen other posters suggesting roughly 0.01 BTC/day per MH/s, so that would equal about 0.0046 BTC from my miner or about $3.59/day (after electricity, fees and converting to pounds I get about £1.24 profit), which is really not worth the hassle. The only thing that would make sense for me I think is to ignore the current most profitable coins and look to mine coins with good long-term gain potential. Mind you, I spent the first month doing that with SBC and look where that is now!

So it's a gamble but hopefully I'll have better luck with the next coin I pick.

I don't seem to be earning what I would expect from multipool.

According to Coinwarz.com my 463KH/s should be bringing in about $7/day with either DOGE or LOT but from 35 hours of mining I've received:

DOGE Jan 28 5:37 AM 1,009.43954900
DOGE Jan 27 6:18 PM 1,213.13550400
MOON Jan 27 5:15 PM 5,232.58490900
DOGE Jan 27 5:05 AM 1,047.64969810

(some of that first DOGE payout was probably mined in an earlier session anyway).

With DOGE @ 0.00000168 and MOON @ 0.00000013 , that's around 0.0055 BTC from DOGE and 0.00068 BTC from MOON, totalling 0.00618 BTC, which at $780/BTC equals $4.82

Multipool's 24 hour estimatation gives me a total of 0.00746142, which is about $5.82, from 2,121 DOGE @ 0.00000170 and 4,700 MOON @ 0.00000080 but I don't know where they've got the latter from as MOON has never been that high as far as I can tell, and is about 1/6th of that currently, so using the correct exchange rate that gives a total of 0.0042167 or $3.29.

I don't see any problems with my cgminer config and certainly don't have any hardware errors, so I'm confused as to why I'm not achieving close to the estimated returns indicated on Coinwarz. Here's my current stats from CGWatcher in case they show any problems that I can fix:

One thing I've noticed is that the various hashrates multipool shows for my worker all seem off, so currently it shows that I'm mining DOGE at 437 KH/s and that the 10min hashrate is 391 KH/s.

EDIT: At this moment, both the current and 10min hashrate show as 416 KH/s whilst the 1min hashrate is 623 KH/s, so the first two are about 10% lower than cgminer shows and I have no idea how the 1min is calculated or what purpose it serves showing it.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SBC] From Death Comes Life – The Rebirth of StableCoin - URGENT UPDATE on: January 28, 2014, 12:13:48 PM
I'm organizing a contest fund to create incentive for 3rd party devs to work on creating a mixing service: http://forums.stablecoin.net/index.php?topic=250.0 < Are you interested in participating?

Nice idea but I haven't generated a substantial amount of SBC from my mining yet and can't afford to give any away.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SBC] From Death Comes Life – The Rebirth of StableCoin - URGENT UPDATE on: January 28, 2014, 12:52:16 AM
I can't say that Artos' recent post, that he's only working on the mixing service when he finds some spare time, reassures me at all about the future of this coin, considering what others have said about Anoncoin and Zerocoin having teams of devs working on it and so likely to get there first. I'm not even sure it would save SBC if it did get the mixing service first, as now that people expect other coins to have the same feature soon they might just decide one of those other coins has a catchier name and wait for it to get it's mixing service. After all, if they've got the same features, what else separates coins except for the name and the confidence people have in those behind it, which in the case of SBC is just Artos and he hasn't exactly been going out of his way to make people feel confident?

It might still have a chance if it gets the mixing service first though but that's a big if considering Artos' limited time and that we don't even know how much work he's done/still has to do, so I'm really hoping a team can be formed to try and get it done before any other coin manages it, although I appreciate it's not an easy task.
11  Economy / Services / Re: [ANN][Exchange] Latest Cryptsy Additions, News and announcements on: January 16, 2014, 03:16:27 PM
Why are there lots of coins listed on Cryptsy but with no markets to sell them, like ARG, CAP, DGC, GDC, MEC, MNC, NVC, PXC, all of which I have balances of on multipool? What's the point in being able to deposit them with Cryptsy if they can't be traded? Is there anywhere else to sell them, as if not it seems rather pointless mining them?

Coinwarz even quotes it's prices for those coins from Cryptsy but I can't see where it's getting them from.

Only noticed cryptoculture wasn't working for me anymore today, after two days wasted. It's still not working either and shows as Dead in cgminer/cgwatcher.

Are we talking about the website now, or the temporary cashout tool (which was closed last night) ?  Based on your post above this, have you since been able to get logged into the site then?  It was mentioned earlier (or went out in an email actually I think) that when the site had launched, any old email support requests would be deleted, and to re-send (as the majority of requests would no longer be applicable).  Its likely I guess, that if you aren't getting password resets, you may not have gotten that one either.   Its likely SBC wasn't listed on the temp tool because it was disabled on the site at the time, its since been re-enabled, and should properly display fine on the new site, if you have a balance.

Please email support again or drop by irc, and provide your username and that you aren't getting the reset requests (I assume these requests are from the new site and not pre-Jan 5?), and we can get it sorted.  The new site uses a 3rd party email provider, so the problems that the temp tool had being blocked by certain isps, shouldn't apply.

Thanks for the reply.

I was referring to the temporary cashout tool not showing SBC, back when I tried it before the new site was up and running. Now that you've explained that this was probably becauses it was disabled on the site at that time, that reassures me that everything should show correctly once I login to the new site.

I still haven't received the reset e-mails after the two requests I submitted using the new site, so I'll drop support another e-mail as you suggest. I did receive the cashout e-mails for a couple of other coins I cashed out with the temporary tool though and didn't experience any problems such as you refer to.

SBC doesn't appear as an option for me on the cashout page. This was one of the coins I'd set to not autoconvert to BTC, so why am I unable to withdraw them?

I haven't seen a reply to this question yet, nor have I received a reply to my e-mail to support on 5 January asking the same thing. It would be nice if someone could respond as I currently can't log in and check if they're showing in my account still and not seeing an option on the cashout page for SBC has made me rather concerned.

I've tried the Password Reset request twice over the last 12 hours and it says it's sent but I've not received anything, so I can't log in yet. Is there a problem with this at the moment?

My password reset actually just worked. Too bad coinex still doesn't have SBC yet. Have mined FTC, PXC, and CAP with them. want to switch my SBC to them.

I'll try again then but their response to my e-mail was very unprofessional and didn't attempt to explain why my password had stopped working or apologise for the inconvenience but simply said "try a shorter password or a different browser".

Not been a good week for me Sad

Cryptoculture's problems cost me at least 50SBC but as I wasn't aware of them, my miner's been running and using electricity but without being able to connect as all the accounts were deleted. I was splitting between them and hashco.ws (70/30) so I don't know if it would have redirected all the hash to hashco but they've been hacked and lost BTC as well.

Also, coinex, where I have a few coins stored, won't accept my login details anymore and the password reset page doesn't work!

Not exactly reliable or ready for mainstream this alt. currency business is it.

20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SBC] From Death Comes Life – The Rebirth of StableCoin - stablecoin.net on: December 08, 2013, 10:05:18 AM
Using --load-balance to split 30% to hashco.ws and 70% to cryptoculture.net, the latter's showing overly high hashrate, like 750-880Kh/s, when I only have a total of 464Kh/s! Sometimes it does show the correct rate around 260Kh/s though. I can only assume that this is a result of the way cgminer does load-balancing.

Is this going to negatively affect me by giving me an unsuitable difficulty if it thinks my hashrate is higher than it actually is?

Vardiff is calculated on the server by evaluating your current share rate... basically, the displayed client hash rate has nothing to do with the difficulty rating and such.

The only negative effect you'll see in load-balancing will come from mining on a PPLNS-style pool. Since you're switching around, you'll never get the full benefit of your PPLNS shares.

Great, thanks for explaining that and putting my mind at rest.

I thought the only issue with PPLNS pools was that you needed to stay on them more or less 24/7, because it calculates your payout not just on the shares submitted in the current round but previous ones as well, which dissuades pool-hopping. So if I'm using 130 of my 464 Kh/s on a PPLNS pool, obviously I'm not going to earn as much from that pool as if I allocated all my hashrate to it but it shouldn't be any different than if I only had 130Kh/s to use in total and was only on the PPLNS pool should it?

I'm really only on hashco.ws to mitigate against the fact that when they're mining SBC the other pools don't stand a chance of finding a block but perhaps that's not going to work out for me in reality and I'd be better off allocating all my hashrate to a SBC PPS pool, I'm not really sure how to know.
