1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Payment Coin (POD) | Discover Crypto 3.0 ✅ on: September 04, 2021, 02:58:21 PM
Are you interested in crypto and want to be part of a project?

DM to join (all skillsets welcome).

i happen to see this in crex market but the price is just like 1-2 sats. since you are still visiting this thread, i assume there are still developments going on behind the curtain, is that right? but how about your main objective here, do you think you can really penetrate the payment market? are there merchants on board on this?

That is correct. We are still continuing to develop and work on marketing and partnerships behind the scene. A bit of slow-down during the last 12 months due to team members affected by family covid impacts.

For our main objective, I definitely think we can penetrate the payment market once our key developments are completed. There are not many solutions that have a scalable layer one solution with decentralised marketplace offering / user reputation scoring. With small amounts of investment we can also get our coin added to multiple payment networks that would enable Payment Coin across 10,000s merchants so that is not a concern. We have struck these deals already including several top 30 CMC exchanges which is dependent on further development and raising the required funds. Our main challenge remains turning our research into development output; but we are in a marathon and believe in our roadmap  Smiley

I tried getting some free POD coins in the faucet posted in your OP. But is the confirmation of the transaction really take that long? Like days before it is fully confirmed in your network. This is not good if you are aiming to be in the payment method of merchants.

Thanks for using the faucet and trying our product. We are in the phase of solving the chicken and egg problem. Once we go past a certain point the network effect will kick in and miners will be processing at a much higher rate and bring processing times down to the bare minimum. Getting involved now is being an early adopter. The future developments will only add exponential value.

Just to add, can you also put the technical details in your opening post? Because it says, your algo is PoW. But if you can add more details, that would be great. Like block reward, etc. (Though you can see that from your block explorer, but would be nice if you can already see it at the front page so users know what to expect)
Since encountering this thread, it made me curious on finding out more about this project. Not many 3-year old projects can manage to exist up until today. Though you only have one exchange for the moment, but I am seeing you are having active development going on. So for me, there is future on this one.

Thanks for the feedback. The coin spec details have been added back to the first post. We are proud that we have kept the project progressing over the last 3 years through highs and lows. We have kept the faith on our own research and the excitement starts as we start to convert these into new developments. The USP was never in the cloned foundations; that was an experimental starting point. The USP is delivering long overdue crypto breakthroughs to build a better coin.

Checking the comparison table on your site, you can see your advantages over bitcoin and other alts. But why is this coin not so popular? I believe, even in this forum, not many users are aware of this project. And looking at the price level in crex, it is not very encouraging in my opinion. It is like the coin is almost dying in the trading section, considering that you are only listed in this exchange. Are there plans to change this scenario?

It is like the story of the Hare and Tortoise. We are a small dedicated team of crypto enthusiasts and our main focus to date has been on research. And in that aspect we have built up some world beating knowledge. This is being now being converted into development. Don't let the scrypt coin history cloud what is coming; it is going to be a game changer.

Our user-base is growing as more people find out about our project; and we now have more community volunteers coming and joining the network; and this will only help the network effect.

As for trading volume and liquidity, this will only improve as we list on additional exchanges. See our note on being approved for several top 50 CoinMarketCap exchanges. The increase in potential volume will be a gamechanger on that front.

It should be noted that while a lot of people need to find and discover our project; what if I told you some of the most influential folks in crypto have already had communications with us; specifically about our Satoshi R&D and what we discovered. If they are curious, it does re-enforce us that we are doing something right Smiley

17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has Bitcoin Failed as Money? on: February 16, 2021, 05:15:20 PM
As a long-time Bitcoin hodler, I welcome the current development of Bitcoin and find the increasing acceptance great. But the question arises as to whether Bitcoin can still be considered as money for everyday transactions or whether the idea is outdated and Bitcoin is more of a store of value option like gold than a means of payment.

Why? I try to pay with Bitcoin wherever possible. Fortunately, more and more merchants and services are accepting Bitcoin. Whether directly or through third-party providers. Here are my experiences over the past few weeks.

I wanted to take out a subscription to my favorite streamer. $4.99 payable with Bitcoin. Timely Confirmation Fees, $ 6.71. 134% of the purchase price. Even with an annual subscription, the fees would still be around 20-23%.

Paying my web hosting costs of around $30, Bitcon fees also around $5, which would be 16-17% fees.

The fees may be acceptable for buying a Tesla for $ 40-50k, but certainly not for daily payments.

2009 -14 : eCash
2014-17  : Transition state: eCash --> SoV
2017-21  : SoV
Future?   :  Back to eCash if BTC reaches stable $1m range OR if decentralised scability is truely solved. I think the elephant in the room is that no project has truely solved decentralised scalability that Satoshi r&d back in 2009. When that breakthru happens a shift back to eCash is very probable as microtransactions are part of the original Bitcoin blueprint.

19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Heroes of Bitcoin - A thanks to the many good people. on: February 12, 2021, 10:20:57 PM
I will never forget all of these people except for Roger Ver which I almost forgot. Been watching his videos in the past, giving bitcoin to people, and as far as I know, he also went to Japan giving BTC? Either way, I agree that Elon Musk is not included in this list. Yes, he did that tweet but that doesn't mean that he is already a "hero" of bitcoin.

What about the Winklevoss twins? They pushed bitcoin ETF in the past, while it was not approved, they are still supporting bitcoin. They should be one of these people and not Elon Musk.

Making any top 10 list is a difficult task. Each of the names mentioned help take Bitcoin to the next level. Elon has actually been championing Bitcoin for many years. His reach covers Institutional C-level execs via Tesla, fans and followers of SpaceX, The Boring Company etc. This is a next level bump up for Bitcoin. Slot 10 could have been many folks but Elon fits the current trajectory.  Winklevoss twins are an honourable mention too.
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Heroes of Bitcoin - A thanks to the many good people. on: February 12, 2021, 03:51:57 PM
With Bitcoin and the wider crypto ecosystem on fire, it is important to remember the heroes that made it all happen:

01. Satoshi Nakamoto        :  Founder. Spent 4 years developing Bitcoin (2007 - end2010).
02. Hal Finney                   :  First Bitcoin user, supporter and developer
03. Gavin Andresen            :  Selected dev lead by Satoshi Nakamoto
04. The Real DPR               :  Founder of Silkroad! Proved Bitcoin usage on mass scale.
05. BitBoy                         :  Creator of Bitcoin logo. Marketing breakthru & identity.
06. Laszlo Hanyecz             :  Legendary 10,000BTC pizza purchase. Real world eureka moment.
07. Community Developers :  https://bitcoin.org/en/development#bitcoin-core-contributors
08. Andreas Antonopoulos  :  Bitcoin educator and community champion
09. Roger Ver                    :  First generation Bitcoin ecosystem investor
10. Elon Musk                    :  Fourth generation evangelist and community champion

Many thanks to all the key contributors and believers that made the impossible possible!
