Distribution effectiveness = - (complaint) - (bitching)^2 - (extreme bitching/ sabotage)^4 + (happy follower) + (happy contributor)^2 + (happy loyalist/ dev. team)^4
My grandfather once remarked "you could take all the land and redistribute it equally among people and the same people would end up owning it again." The 80-20 Pareto Distribution, where 20% of the population owns 80% of the wealth seems to be a naturally occurring phenomenon. Any coin can be expected to migrate towards this distribution. This is still a lot better than the "1%" statistic oft quoted in the US. Any attempts to socially engineer some other desired distribution are apt to fail, and worse, yield unintended adverse consequences. 80-20 rule is interesting and I think Malcolm Gladwell wrote a long article about it as well. We will see how NEM final distribution will end up from the initial 1 account/ 1 share distribution. To me it is interesting social/ economic experiment as well. Galatians 3:28 "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus." ; NEM book 1:00 "at Nemesis, every account is equal"

Anything involves James nodecoin would need a great deal of luck to go through.
I've bookmarked this. Care to wager a NEM stake on this? Listen, I understand you're the head of NEM. Respect for you and your team. Somehow, in all the 'fair distribution' talk it's forgotten that CfB, Jean-Luc, CIYAM, James and others are a killer team. We're not waiting on an alpha, or picking out logos -- we're testing features now as I type this. I wouldn't wager my NEM stake if I wasn't 100% positive. Are all those people still involved in NXT? I thought CfB's contract was up. It looks like Jean-Luc and wesley have made all the commits for at least all of April: https://bitbucket.org/JeanLucPicard/nxt/commits/all. Is there another repro where other people are contributing? CfB hasn''t left totally. He is still around, and waiting for DGS and asset exchange to finish. CIYAM is of course still working on AT project. James is supposedly "working" on dozens of things, but they don't involve changing nxt core. These are all his own projects. There are many others working on various projects (like android apps, games ( http://www.nox.am/ ) websites ( nxt.org, etc) The front page of the game demo does look inviting. I could agree that NXT is still the most exciting alt coin system out there currently.

I like that you have trust in the project but I tend to be on the cynical side. Probability wise I would gladly take the bet, however it is not something I care too much about so I will pass.

NXT blockchain pruning does not even have the concept yet. It won't be easy as some claims to be. If blockchain pruning can be done at will, why do bitcoin not have one already ? So I would say do that first before attempting ping pong messaging.
Who said anything can be 'done at will'? That's specious. And how is Bitcoin, an antiquated 1.0 crypto, suddenly the sine qua non of what can and can't be accomplished? Bitcoin doesn't have the advantage of Nxt or NEM... smaller cryptos can be nimble. We don't have $5+ billion dollars tied to our blockchains (yet!) We're testing NXTsubatomic crosschain exchanges *today*. NEM and Nxt don't have committees and foundations breathing down our necks. Or miners. Good luck with the "subatomic crosschain". No luck needed. We're very close. https://nxtforum.org/index.php?topic=665.msg11906#msg11906Anything involves James nodecoin would need a great deal of luck to go through.

This is not totally true. NXT has a good concept around removing everything but the blockchain itself. Transactions, messages and trade logs are stored in a way, that entries older than XXX days can be pruned. There is nothing decided yet, about the rules ect, but it is not so far away as you say. As for bootstrapping, that is basically ready for BTC. Not sure why you say otherwise. It is not implemented because it is a nontrivial change, that is not needed 100%. That's why! Show me the "good concept" or at least show me a quote from Jean-Luc saying so, please? you are obviously on the marketing side so I am supposed "good concept" about blockchain pruning is about as good as "good concept" in NXT 1000 TPS earlier.

Noob Question:
What means "secure Messaging" exactly? Can it be used like email/Whats app?
secure message = encrypted message. I think the encryption will be optional. It should be kept in mind that sending NEM secure messages are costly (to avoid blockchain spam), so it is more oriented toward keeping important document, texts securely on the blockchain. Will there be fee on sending message and how much? I heard that in NXT two people can just ping pong 1 NXT with message, when they have communication. Did I misunderstood? P.S. I hoped I can have chat with other Nemsters without CIA, NSA, etc. If that is true the the size of NXT blockchain will get pass Bitcoin one in maybe 3 months. Let's think about 100 pair of of botnet computer ping pong each other maximum messages all night long. Don't let desire overwhelm reason. Nxt will support blockchain pruning. Not sure of ETA, as Asset Exchange and Automated Transactions are coming first. NXT blockchain pruning does not even have the concept yet. It won't be easy as some claims to be. Anyone care to think that with so much early access to get a stake then early buyers simply do t exist. You will just have a ton of people holding coins hoping it will rise even without any buyers.
What I do predict is tons of people manipulating and screaming for it to rise only for it to pump and dump.
This is exactly what's going to happen, no buy support, just like it did with NXT. People are so naive. People who don't want to stick around will sell out, people who want to be a bigger part of the picture will buy in. That's the normal process.

The strategic incorporation of an ecosystem with a certain blockchain will ultimately decide the success of each system. I think everyone fully understand that Coinbase+Bitpay+Gift together probably account for 50% of Bitcoin valuation, so developing an ecosystem is of paramount importance and in this aspect we also have certain strategies and philosophies that in the end may matter a great deal more than any single feature of the blockchain. In this aspect, NEM initial token allocation could play a certain important role.
Very interesting. Ufuture: could you please elaborate Which part ?

The /r/NEM link was removed from the NXT subreddit sidebar... What did we do to deserve this?! actually I can clarify this. I am a mod at /r/NXT and I posted a thread on the nxt forum asking what should be changed. And all people there said NEM is clearly distancing themself from NXT so there is no reason whatsoever to link there. Do you disagree? Well /r/NXT is still at /r/NEM so I think we deserve to be at /r/NXT as well, but seeing none of other cryptos are at sidebar of /r/NXT I would certainly not insisting
