41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain launches the Z9 Equihash miner on: June 20, 2018, 08:12:45 PM
So it looks like 1432 units shipped so far.  That's 14,320,000 sols/s.  ZEC network hashrate is between 500,000,000 and 600,000,000 sols/s so that's something like 2.5-3% of ZEC network hashrate.

Considering they allowed orders of 50 after a few days, I expect this number to greatly increase.
42  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain launches the Z9 Equihash miner on: June 19, 2018, 09:41:21 PM
I missed this shipment by 6 hours. Dang. I wonder how long till the next round...
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain launches the Z9 Equihash miner on: June 18, 2018, 05:43:51 PM
I am just anxiously watching my email for a shipping confirmation.  Inno beat Bitmain out the door this time so times a wasting and profit will drop every day they take to get these out the door to us.  Not happy that 77 orders were filled almost a month ago and we are still sitting here waiting.

Yeah. If there aren't reports of shipments on exactly the 20th like they promised I'd be inclined to get a train ticket to their headquarters and shout a bit.
44  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Why so many Antminer Z9 Mini for pre-resell on Ebay? on: June 15, 2018, 08:21:48 PM
I'm a little miffed they are taking so long to ship these. 77 people got weeks of free mining for the same cost. It's absurd.

Welcome back. Why the total removal of 200,9 ?
46  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Building Cheap Miners : My "Secret" on: June 12, 2018, 05:01:03 PM
That system is four independent servers with two redundant psu for all of them. You will need four hard drives and four operating systems. I recommend you learn how to use ansible and keep them all in sync.

The real kickers are the chips with 16GB of HBM2 on the stack. But I don't think there are any development boards for those yet.

Why not email them and ask them to please please please give you an extra one. And offer to even pay for shipping.
51  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: good place in US for affordable house by cash and start mining on: May 24, 2018, 12:39:06 PM
Cheap Energy
Cool climate
low humidity
low real estate cost.

Hmm. North dakota.

52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Dwarf FPGA – the anti-ASIC on: May 22, 2018, 09:43:51 PM
But like other users said, it is too good to be true.
I do not think so. Look at this article: https://www.iacr.org/archive/ches2005/031.pdf
The hash function has a 524288 cycles, if I understood everything correctly.
From the article:
"Two new FPGA designs for the Advanced Encryption Standard
(AES) are presented. The first is believed to be the fastest, achieving 25 Gbps
throughput using a Xilinx Spartan-III (XC3S2000) device. The second is
believed to be the smallest and fits into a Xilinx Spartan-II (XC2S15) device,
only requiring two block memories and 124 slices to achieve a throughput of
2.2 Mbps. "

It means, XC3S2000-5 for $78 only can generate 1490,12 h/s; https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/xilinx-inc/XC3S2000-5FGG456C/XC3S2000-5FGG456C-ND/1951750
+ SRAM memory like https://www2.mouser.com/ProductDetail/GSI-Technology/GS8160Z36DGT-150?qs=sGAEpiMZZMt9mBA6nIyysJQc0%252bdJyBlRwbATLGJ3Hts%3d, $14 for 2,25 megabyte.
About a hundred bucks for one and a half kh. And it's using the components from the online store. If they use an external AES coprocessor, this can work faster.

DwarfMiner, tell us more about the architecture of the system  Cheesy

I think you're completely ignoring memory latency for implementing the hash function.
53  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ASICminer secretly launching Equihash 40,000 Sol/s miner. on: May 09, 2018, 02:30:16 PM
or four Z9s. etc

They do add a neat water cooling system and low noise cooling. So at least there is some value. But not at 2x the price per sol
54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain Antminer X3 -- 220KH+ Cryponight - 550W on: March 15, 2018, 08:20:00 PM
No one should consider 2MB of ram for PoW to be asic resistant at all these days.
Ultrascale+ FPGAs have enough internal memory to make this a joke. Plus on chip HBM2

Cryptonight PoW needs to increase the memory depth.
55  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Building Cheap Miners : My "Secret" on: March 14, 2018, 09:38:59 PM
The currently proposed PoW changes wont break this miner if it's FPGA based. It'll require a slight change and recompile of the code. that's it. Same if it's movidius VPU based.
56  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: BAIKALMINER Giant-N cryptonight 20000h/s 60watt on: March 13, 2018, 06:16:33 PM
pretty sure baikal made this with a commodity VPU from movidius. No custom asics.
57  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ASIC Miners DESTROY GPU Mining? NEW Monero XMR FPGA ASIC & Electroneum ETN Miner on: March 13, 2018, 01:58:02 PM
The devs just need to increase the cryptonote scratchpad memory size to 4MB and this miner will be shot. All the software is easily upgraded. All CPU miners will still be able to do it, though at reduced hashrate (still cache bound).

I guess I wont be mining XMRwith my intel movidius stick if they do though...
58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Check power supplies! Don’t be too cheap! on: February 13, 2018, 02:37:03 PM
My power supplies cost $7.50 each for 675watts. Is that too cheap? :p
Used server psu pulls work just fine for mining, especially if they run off 240vac with better than 90% efficiency. The only worry is the electrolytic capacitors and fan life. Refurbishing all of those parts costs less than $10.
