82  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / “Warren: Maybe You’re Wrong About Bitcoin?” on: May 20, 2018, 03:26:05 AM
Well folks I found an interesting article this day, what can you say about it?

Billionaire investor Warren Buffett, known for his negative attitude towards cryptocurrencies, has been targeted in a bitcoin advocacy campaign lead by one of the largest cloud mining companies. Genesis Mining has recently posted billboards in front of Buffett’s office reminding him that he was wrong about Google and Amazon, and telling him that he may very well be wrong about bitcoin, as well.

The initiative has received a lot of support from the crypto community on social media. Genesis co-founder Marco Krohn posted on Twitter photos of the message to the investment guru with a short note saying: “Some new billboards outside of Warren Buffetts office! Smiley

Earlier this month, the American business magnate issued another warning in regards to bitcoin and the like. “Cryptocurrencies will come to a bad ending,” he said during the annual Berkshire Hathaway’s shareholder meeting, but he didn’t stop there. “If I could buy a five-year put on every one of the cryptocurrencies, I’d be glad to do it but I would never short a dime’s worth,” he said, concluding that bitcoin is “probably rat poison squared.” Needless to say, Buffett’s comments provoked reactions and even inspired new business ideas. A tokenized marketplace called Ecoinmerce has announced the “Rat Poison Squared clothing line.” Т-shirts and hats are already offered online, but one can also order a mug with the winged phrase.

83  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why so many Bitcoin users have fear of governments? on: May 20, 2018, 03:22:24 AM
I don't think we should fear the government, if the crypto economy is being regulated then it is advantageous to us, why? because it helps crypto environment to be more safe.
84  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / OTC Bitcoin Trading on: May 20, 2018, 03:08:28 AM
Brokers Outnumber Buyers and Sellers 100:1
Anyone can become a bitcoin broker: change your Linkedin title to “OTC Bitcoin Broker” and you’ve done it. Brokerage is a job that, like most cryptocurrency roles, outside of development, requires no formal qualifications. Just as anyone can call themselves an ICO advisor, anyone can assume the mantle of bitcoin broker, consigning them to start spamming Linkedin users for buyers and highly coveted sellers.

To understand the viral spread of brokers, it’s necessary to understand the conditions that led to large OTC sellers coming about. Back in the day, it was possible to acquire a lot of bitcoin for very little money. A lot of people mined it; some made it from trading shitcoins; and a few simply bought a bunch of BTC and then had the presence of mind to hodl, through thick and thin, for years.

Most brokers will take on anything from 500 BTC upwards as an OTC deal, often operating on behalf of family funds seeking to acquire bitcoin in bulk. But what brokers are really chasing is the big one – deals of 10,000 BTC or more, in which a brokerage commission of 3% is worth millions of dollars. The number of bitcoin addresses containing between 10k and 100k BTC sits at little more than 100, however, and while some sellers have their coins distributed across multiple wallets, bona fide whales looking to sell are rare. Because the rewards for finding one are so great, a swarm of brokers, each chasing “the big one”, has proliferated.

85  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin is Different From Other Currencies? on: May 20, 2018, 03:05:04 AM
Here is the main reason why Bitcoin is different from other cryptocurrencies, "The main advantages of Bitcoin are network effect and proven security. Both are nearly insurmountable advantages." (credits: Jimmy Song)
86  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Coins good for trading? on: May 19, 2018, 01:26:28 AM
I suggest you buy BTCtc as your capital, and the good trading pair would be, BTCTC to ETH, XRP, LTC, STR, ADA. Why? because these 5 altcoins have a good daily trading volume, so it means more price volatility and easier to buy and sell.
87  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: do you believe in luck? on: May 19, 2018, 12:03:51 AM
Yes I do, when I started trading I always rely on my luck, but as time goes by relying on your luck is becoming a bad habit, because your mindset would be, example if you recently lost a trade you will think "maybe this next trade will give me x3 profit" so your neverending maybe win tradings might all be loss. so think again, should you really rely on luck alone?
88  Economy / Trading Discussion / Crypto Trading on Openbazaar on: May 18, 2018, 11:51:14 PM
Cryptocurrencies can now be traded on the peer-to-peer online marketplace Openbazaar in addition to physical goods, digital goods, and services. Initially, 44 cryptocurrencies are supported but the development team plans to add more over time. There is no fee for trading cryptocurrencies and no need to register with any service.

Peer-to-peer e-commerce platform Openbazaar’s development team, OB1, announced this week that fully decentralized, fee-free cryptocurrency trading is now available on the platform with the release of Openbazaar version 2.20. The platform previously had three types of listings: physical goods, digital goods, and services. “We’re now adding a fourth: cryptocurrency,” the team emphasized, elaborating about the new software version:

"The biggest new feature is the ability to buy and sell cryptocurrencies. Vendors are now able to use a special new listing type to sell cryptocurrencies on Openbazaar. They can choose from 44 different cryptocurrencies right now and more will be added over time."

90  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Tax Collector to Accept Bitcoin on: May 14, 2018, 02:36:08 PM
Florida Tax Collector to Accept Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash Payments

A Florida county tax collector has partnered with bitcoin payments processor BitPay to accept cryptocurrency for a variety of services.

Seminole County Tax Collector Joel Greenberg said in a statement Monday that his office will take bitcoin and bitcoin cash for payments associated with driver licenses and ID cards, automobile tags and titles and property tax.

The office decided to accept the cryptocurrencies in an effort to streamline fee collection, reduce the potential for fraud and identity theft and increase the transparency and accuracy of payments. Greenberg's office added that it does not perceive any "price volatility or risk to the County" in accepting the cryptocurrencies.

91  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Crypto Vending Machine on: May 13, 2018, 03:35:38 PM
"We're definitely not in the beer-vending business."

That might not be something you'd expect the marketing manager for a crypto tech company to clarify, but it's perhaps now necessary when discussing Civic, the startup co-founded by entrepreneur and "Shark Tank South Africa" star Vinny Lingham in 2016.

Announced Friday, the San Francisco-based startup will unveil the world's first "crypto beer vending machine" at CoinDesk's Consensus 2018 next week. No gimmick, Civic sees the prototype, built and branded in partnership with beverage giant Anheuser-Busch, as a way to demonstrate the utility of blockchain-based identity verification schemes.

In short, any conference attendee will be able to walk up to the machine with their Civic app, where they can verify whether they are of legal age and make a purchase.

92  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Big Cryptos Dropped this Week on: May 13, 2018, 03:33:48 PM
The cryptocurrency markets are set to end the second week of May on a low note.

The total market capitalization for all cryptocurrencies fell below $400 billion for the first time since April 26 on Friday, and has dropped 15.97 percent week-on-week. As of writing, the combined market value stands at $385 billion and could see a further decline as indicated by a head-and-shoulders breakdown pattern on the price charts.

Looking at notable individual cryptocurrencies, bitcoin (BTC) has depreciated by 12 percent week-on-week and has outperformed its closer rivals. For instance, ethereum (ETH) and EOS have dropped 15 percent each and Ripple (XRP) has declined by 34 percent.

Bitcoin's dominance rate, which represents its percentage of the total market capitalization, moved above 38 percent for the first time since late April. This likely indicates that money is possibly being rotated back into bitcoin from alternative cryptocurrencies, so BTC's relatively good performance this week is not surprising.

93  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Blockchain Security on: May 13, 2018, 03:31:43 PM
"At its highest level, blockchain is a trust layer."

In nine words, Kaleido Insights founding partner Jessica Groopman succinctly summarized the gist of CDX Academy's "Blockchain Brand Innovation Summit" on May 11 during her opening remarks.

The summit itself brought together representatives from blockchain startups and incumbent institutions to debate and discuss different use cases for the technology, noting both its advantages and its flaws.

According to various panels, the obvious use for blockchain is in data storage, whether in healthcare or in other private, consumer data. The overreach of many centralized institutions as it relates to personal data, in particular, has made headlines recently, perhaps the most notable being third-party application's collection of Facebook users' private information.

94  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Number One Reason NOT to invest in Crypto on: May 13, 2018, 03:17:27 PM
Investing in cryptocurrencies involves very high risk, as prices have been extremely volatile. Many experts are sceptical about bitcoin as an investment primarily because there is nothing for them to analyse.
95  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Price Analysis, May 11 on: May 13, 2018, 03:14:32 PM
Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, Ripple, Stellar, Litecoin, Cardano, IOTA, EOS: Price Analysis, May 11
Unlike 2017, the rallies in most major cryptocurrencies this year has been subdued. We believe that they are forming a bottom, which can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months.

During this process, the price will remain volatile as the bulls, and the bears battle it out to establish their supremacy. The supportive news will see prices move up while adverse news can lead to a decline.

The latest set of news that influenced the decline for most cryptocurrencies is the investigation of South Korean exchange Upbit by the country’s Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) and liquidation of Bitcoin by the executives in charge of refunding users affected by the collapse of the former Japanese exchange Mt.Gox.

96  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bill Gates to Bitcoin on: May 13, 2018, 03:05:44 PM
Bill Gates: I’d Short ‘Crazier, Speculative’ Bitcoin If I Could

Microsoft founder Bill Gates issued critical comments about Bitcoin May 7, telling CNBC it was a “greater fool” investment and he “would short it if he could.”

In comments during the network’s Squawk Box segment, Gates, who in February claimed cryptocurrencies had “caused deaths in a fairly direct way,” nonetheless did not discount the idea of engaging with it himself.

“As an asset class, you're not producing anything and so you shouldn't expect it to go up. It's kind of a pure 'greater fool theory' type of investment,” he said.

ICO Market Reopening in South Korea

South Korea Considers Reopening ICO Market

Last year, South Korea banned any new Initial Coin Offerings (ICO) from being held in the country, but a new bill introduced by South Korean lawmakers could open the ICO market back up, albeit one now strictly supervised by government regulators. The passage of the bill could signal the start of a less FUD-y crypto stance coming from the country.

98  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / 'Largest Crypto Platform' on: May 11, 2018, 07:47:32 AM
U.S.-based mobile stock trading app Robinhood has announced a $363 million Series D funding round that it says will help the firm expand to become possibly the largest cryptocurrency platform.

According to a statement published on Thursday, the funding round values the firm at $5.6 billion and was led by DST Global, with Iconiq, Capital G, Sequoia Capital and KPCB also participating.

With its coffers now full, the firm said it is now looking to expand its cryptocurrency trading service, which is currently available in 10 U.S. states to eventually cover the whole country as soon it receives the necessary licenses.

In an interview with Fortune, Robinhood's co-founder and co-CEO Baiju Bhatt said he expects that to happen by the close of 2018.

In its announcement, the firm said the new funds will be spent on product expansion, infrastructure and operations and growing its team. Following that, Bhatt said he expects Robinhood to "be either the largest or one of the largest crypto platforms out there" by end of 2018.

99  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / 'Dandelion' Privacy Tool on: May 11, 2018, 07:46:50 AM
Developers hoping to bring a higher level of transaction anonymity to the bitcoin blockchain have built a prototype for their "Dandelion" privacy project.

The test, according to an email sent to the bitcoin development mailing list on Thursday, comes after the team behind the project added more theoretical analysis in a bid to address concerns that the initial Dandelion proposal may be exposed to a deanonymization attack.

A variety of projects have focused on this question within the bitcoin network, all of which seek to improve privacy for users of the public - and pseudonymous - blockchain. As previously reported by CoinDesk, the Dandelion Bitcoin Improvement Proposal (BIP) was first published in June of last year, backed by Zcash advisor and University of Illinois assistant professor Andrew Miller, and several other faculty members and students from the school.
