21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Unicef Ethereum donations on: February 17, 2018, 05:25:23 PM
I think this sounds dumb lol.
I'm not trying to be cruel, and I'm actually all for charity...

It's just that they're targeting such a niche demographic that's like made up of such a small percentage of gamers. In high school you're looking at less than 20 people per 2 years who have high level graphic cards for gaming. After having, there's probably more, but still not a lot.

A lot of people are gamers. But not all gamers have gaming rigs....

Plus the fact that hard core gamers are usually selfish people who honestly probably don't want to join extracurricular activities, like donatiNg to unicef.

They'd have better results asking the crypto community or eth pools to do this challenge

OK maybe I was phished. I could've tried logging on to https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2270352.0

The site looks identical. Url too.... but if the seclog doesn't show me changing my password twice... then idk.

Also it really looks like people are getting hacked now: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/7th9vp/my_bitcointalkorg_account_got_hacked/

You can see on the link of preposter, that password wasn't changed. So your account wasn't hacked. You simply forgot your password, I guess.

No, because I also wrote down the pw.

I put in the pw many times, still said incorrect. The last time I tried it went so slow, one finger...

I think maybe most people are not being hacked currently. There is just a weird bug where you cant login with the correct password.

Thanks everyone for the feedback though.

It looks like the only way to secure your account is with a bitcoin address so I'm going to make one especially for bitcointalk
I had this issue on some mobile browsers like opera mini, because the current typed password was changed by the wrong typed and also the numbers of the time field went into password field. That was an issue by missinterpreting browser. .So, if you will have your issue again, then change browser or clean cache. Maybe you had the same issue.

! I only use my tablet to log into bitcointalk. Maybe this is what was happening. Maybe it's a browser bug

Lots of people are getting hacked lately. was your password strong or did it have dictionary words in it etc etc?

Scan your local system with malwarebytes maybe?

Looks like you got really lucky, and caught it just in time...

Today at 06:21:17 PM - Derfcoin - password reset via email

Are you able to see my account history?

Canyou tell me if it shows that someone changed my password?

I never changed my password ever since I created my account.

My password was something exactly like this: doesun20

It's not super weak, but it's not super strong. I just didn't think people would want to hack a forum account!

I never was phished, didn't have malware. I'm really nervous because I don't know if they hacked my end or bitcointalk's

Right - So yeah, that password was really weak "doesun20" and yes, many people are trying to hack this site now that btc price is so high.

I see in the https://bitcointalk.org/seclog.php where you changed it - that's what I meant above. You should be fine. Use a very strong password, and consider password manager like LastPass etc. Cheers.

The log doesn't show my password changing within the last 4 hours....

Either they can modify that log, or my account was never hacked... and the system just wouldn't accept my password for some reason,

Now I just feel like a crazy person :/

This is probably the culprit. If you use the same PW on other accounts, it really lowers any security.

I don't use the pw for anything else.

And why would I change my password so soon? I only joined three or 2 days ago

Hi

A little while ago someone changed the password of my account  (this one).

When I tried to login, it kept saying password incorrect.

I ran antivirus and my system is clean. No Keyloggers.

Luckily they didn't change the email address so I was able to use the forgot password option.

How did I get hacked???

Or is there a known glitch where it says password incorrect even when the password is right?
29  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Worried about Merits? I'm here to help. on: February 16, 2018, 06:28:44 PM
I' agree with him.

You're not really helping, tbh.

Newbies or anyone on this forum shouldn't be worried about points??

If you're on bitcointalk, it's because you want to hang out, ask for help, give advice, and maybe buy or sell things.

You don't even need to be beyond noob rank to do any of the above!

The only reason why people would want any kind of significant ranking is most likely for nefarious purposes, like trust scamming. Or commercial signature space.

You're encouraging them....

Everybody likes promotions in their life (and they should get it if they deserve it). I'll most likely be giving points to those who've already reached their minimum mark to become member (in rank) and that's because of their work (here: contribution) that they have shown. I'm not suppressing anybody here to spam, but asking all of them to do it keeping themselves limited under the rules. I don't have anything to prove here, but there's one thing that I'm doing for sure, and that's - appreciating the high-quality performances given by some of the very few people here who deserve to go higher in rankings. It's not necessary that people are here just to scam, as I believe trust and merits are 2 different things and I've already had a thread of my own that clarifies it (here) - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2831070.0
Don't you guys think that we should all get together to make this forum clean and better by supporting those who're giving their best for the betterment of forum itself?

Last but not the least, they're my merits and I can decide who deserve them - and trust me, you will not be dissatisfied from my job as I'll be giving my merits to the best ones only. Smiley
Someone literally hacked my account and changed my password after the post i made here.

I guess you must have some hacker supporters.

They didn't change my email. So they were just trying to send a message.

I still think what you're doing is not so good. Not changing my mind about that.
30  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Worried about Merits? I'm here to help. on: February 16, 2018, 04:52:47 PM
You're doing nothing but encouraging spam.

Elaborate please.
From my end, take an example:
What do you think, that I am going to reward people coming and asking questions like:
What is Bitcoin? How to earn it? Eh!?

Quote
Seriously.

50 - FIFTY! high-quality (who judges this?) posts in TWO WEEKS - i.e. 4 per day - to get 5 miserable sMerit from you? So they have to do that 2 months in a row to get Member status?

Are you fucking JOKING?

Wait, it's my turn now!
Are you ******* educated enough to understand what did I write in the first post? (I'm not in a mood to say or do anything bad to anybody.)
Where did I ask them to post continuously until they get their activity to reach a Member Rank?
I said that those who are interested, can be a part of this and try their luck for some merits that they will need in order to rank up.
I am engouraging "QUALITY OVER QUANTITY" as I've literally said it in the post that I am interested in those who are willing to contribute and will only reward those who really deserve it.
By the way, I didn't give the table limited to Member Rank, but I have shown all the ranks and the amount of Merits that are needed to reach each of them. I believe you may be correct in your words when you said that they can achieve 10 Merits by making high-quality posts already and that I don't need to be a mascot for them, but then, let me make 2 things clear:
- There are merit sources, but they are also having limited merits and so, they also cannot share with each and every member (even if they are the ones who deserve) if the provided merits end up at some point (of course, giving it to people for their constructive posts but this may be like being lucky). So, users like us are taking a stand to help those who are left. Am I doing anything wrong?
- You said that my 5 ^miserable^ merits might be worth nothing to those who will achieve Member rank through their constructive posting, but you forgot one thing that such merits may be useful when you will need them in future to rank up to levels higher than Member, and you can check out the table given in OP.

Quote
I'll just assume you are.

First read the OP, then assume, as you really need to watch it before shouting over me with your non-sensical accusations.

Quote
Two things will happen here:
- You'll get spammed with crap, and you'll eventually just hand out the sMerit because you're tired.

First, let me know that how many people do you see asking me that they are in for this? Am I really getting spammed and filled with lots of requests? I don't think so! Second, I'm no f**king tired with my merits, but keeping them with me has no sense. You can even watch theymos' post to confirm that hoarding of merits has no sense and spreading it to people who really deserve it - IS WHAT MERIT SYSTEM IS MADE FOR!

Quote
- The Newbie forum will get spammed with crap, trying to make you tired. And they will win.

Don't know whether I should laugh or cry out loud in joy. What are you upto?

Quote
I'd rather be patient and earn it off my own input, tbh.

Don't worry, I'm not like you and I believe you are better than many, and can earn a very good amount of merits.
I am saying this after watching some of your posts.

Quote
Are the DTs (particularly DT2, who as we know are very trigger happy indeed) aware of what you are posting here?

I believe that DT2 members are straight-forward enough and even if I'd have been so lucky (/sarcasm) that they were unable to see this thread, mods already check everything. If there might have been any problems to arise, they wouldn't have let me do this already.

Quote
Rethink this post, please.

Thanks, but no thanks. I know what I am doing.

I' agree with him.

4. With a neutral viewpoint, we can't say whether these two exchanges are under your control. But, then again, you two are anonymous devs, who knows what control you have in the first place. Was TradeSatoshi even an exchange that the consensus voted on? Or did the lead devs simply abruptly shove a btc into tradesatoshi to get it listed without any sort of community feedback? Surely the decentralized exchanges you're working on being added are cheaper than TradeSatoshi, if not free. I'm not certain why you would single out tradesatoshi as the exchange of choice. Surely alternative, better known exchanges could've been chosen with that same listing fee.

It is utterly ridiculous that you would expect the devs - or anyone - to waste time proving a negative. Your argument:
1) You're anon
2) You might have controlled listing on TS/manipulated price/caused the Global Financial Crisis/rigged the US election/killed JFK
3) Therefore the onus is on you to prove you didn't.

Seriously?
It's pretty staggering Bebop gave you the courtesy of answering you at all.

I've been researching new alts to get into. The unprofessionalism that goes on in this thread turned me off.

I'm not sure whether or not the collective negative responses coming from others who merely question some aspects of the coin, its events, and its anonymous creators are true or false.

However the coin's supporters reply calling these critics "flat earthers" and "JFK conspiracy theorists". It just makes the coin look more scammy.

I don't agree with anonymous developers for centralized crypto.

But from what I can tell, turtlecoin is doing the anon thing the correct way. They're trying to make a statement that it's not the devs who matter, but the coin's following. The devs ultimately don't have more power than the coin's active members.

But I'd like to offer a caveat to that as well. It seems as though only the two anonymous devs have the power to kick people from the turtlecoin discord. They took away all administration right from all mods and administrative.

If they can do that for the main community, they could just as easily do so for other aspects of the coin, including development.

Just a caveat. It's only decentralized on its face, it can go centralized with a few clicks

I think you missed my point. It's extremely difficult to prove a negative and frankly, why should they try? It was an odd thing to accuse devs of anyway, since most of the crypto world seems to spend 90% of their time clamouring for new exchanges.
TL;DR someone is always going to be upset about something. Just another day in crypto.

How is it hard to prove a negative?

"You were the one who robbed the bank"
"No, I was in xyz place and time during the robbery."
"You're behind a mass conspiracy."
"No. I haven't any connections but with a few powerless friends."
"You're the owner of tradesatoshi and tradeogre.`
"No. I'm not Mr. Johnny Depp or ms. Jane wright.:

Not any of my business, but wouldn't you rather keep your account for the future just in case instead of selling it for a mere $20..

I don't really see the point. I can always make a new one, and there's no advantages from my uses with having an aged account with karma.

I know Seo people use it for up voting. I only used reddit for random comments that you can make with any level account
35  Economy / Goods / Re: I stopped using reddit because it's stupid. So I'm selling my 9 month old accoun on: February 15, 2018, 04:55:20 PM
This is my first time selling on this forum.

How much do such accounts sell for? I read a medium article that said he sold his for $20

It's my personal account verified with my long time Gmail. I didn't realize this was a big deal until you brought it up. Cant I just change the email to the buyer'so?

I don't need to be bothered with escrow for something worth less than 25 bucks. I'll send the account info first then when everything checks out, I'll hope to receive payment

Hello,

I'm a little too sick of reddit. I might as well leave with some positive benefits.

So I'm selling my account. It's 9 months old with 1400 post karma and 425 comment karma.

I'll ask for $25 in either Btc,Ltc,eth, neo, or PayPal.

his computer was destroyed but i got the data off the hdd and i will have access to his email tomorrow
Look for any file called wallet.dat, or I guess any file called .dat.

On a clean computer  (check for viruses), or using a clean boot with a USB drive boot installation of Ubuntu, install and sync bitcoin core with the blockchain. Then rename the ,dat file wallet.dat and import.

If you can't find any .dat files, try to go through all word, spreadsheet, txt documents to try to find a random string of 64 characters. That would be his private key that you can import too.

This could be huge and I will be watching this project.

The premine is 0.22% if you consider that the figures disclosed are correct and not fumbled with.

TON went pretty well, and this coin isn't even on an exchange so it could be awesome! I'm telling my friends about it.
