It's amazing the amount of hatred that experimentation gets.

Some of these people are borderline mentally ill with rage and delusion.
Protecting their ideals like religious zealots from the Dark Ages.

This coin is a hotbed of innovation and experimentation.
It's making the old world people get out the pitchforks.

I think this incident will show that rollback options will need to be part of every
coin including Bitcoin in the case of catastrophic system damage such
as what happened with the 8 million coin theft.

Otherwise regular mainstream users will not trust Crypto with their money - ever.

Don't let archaic ideals cloud the future of this experiment. I think this VRC
case will be looked back on as a groundbreaking event that helped bring crypto to
the masses.

Trust makes money work.
It's only logical that the system can defend itself from attacks that can kill it.

I will favor investment in coins that have this capability myself.
No one wants to put their money into defenseless vapor.

I was hoping to still buy some for 2 or 3 satoshi at least one more time....so please dump to me.
Afraid to list anything to add sell pressure because I would probably lose my coins Smiley

I probably shouldn't discuss my plans but this is a whale party so I might as well be somewhat open.

I can't do Krill. It's nasty. Must have Plankton.
324  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][FOOD]Plankton - Essential nutrition for whale development. Live large! on: July 14, 2014, 11:09:27 AM
Went to submit to coinmarketcap.com and found there is no total coins listed on this page:
http://food.explorer.ssdpool.com:9035/

Can someone make a URL that shows the total coins? Then we can submit to CMC and get listed no problem.
It is required for listing.

I am a Cloakcoin Shill.

If you go past the literally 80+ posts Bob made today under VRC thread you get to his Cloak coin posts.
This is the only reason he is here. Cloak is down 50% and he is angry that VRC price is not dropping.
326  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VRC] | VeriCoin | POS - NSDI | VeriBit | VeriSend | VeriSMS on: July 14, 2014, 07:58:47 AM
I just looked through the FUD spammer profiles.
95% of them are owners of "competing" anon coins.

Have a look for yourself. Click their profiles and go through their last posts. They are all here now - DRK - XC - XMR and CLOAK. And more!

It's not about ideals. It's about money as usual.
When these guys coins are down - please kick them too. Write their names down. Write down their coins. Karma is a bitch.

So if I bought VRC after 2 AM EST at Mintpal I will have my BTC back in my Mintpal BTC wallet and no VRC, correct?
329  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VRC] | VeriCoin | POS - NSDI | VeriBit | VeriSend | VeriSMS on: July 14, 2014, 04:29:59 AM

Your idealism blinds you from logic.
Rollback is the most logical and rational choice in this particular case.

If you think that Bitcoin and it's community would not do whatever it could to survive a similar size attack - you are a fool.

-- Please remember this is an experimental technology. There are few rules here.
-- Putting idealism before experimentation will not lead to advancement of Crypto.

He's probably saying the dumping is over.
I could be wrong. I don't speak Chinese.

So what is the exact time of the cutoff for what transactions the rollback will reverse?

12 hours ago? 14 hours ago?
332  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VRC] | VeriCoin | POS - NSDI | VeriBit | VeriSend | VeriSMS on: July 14, 2014, 12:05:58 AM

Seems to be a lot of confusion here on reality.

- All systems based on computer code connected to the internet can be compromised
- If Crypto Currencies are to be based on code and connected to the internet then they can and will be compromised
- They can sometimes be compromised to the point of total destruction of the system

Because the above points are facts then the following likely applies :

- Without the ability to correct massive damage it is not likely many will "trust" Crypto Currencies with their wealth
- Crypto Currency will likely become a failed experiment as a store of value without the ability to correct fatal damage to the system

- Some trust must be given to get trust in return

333  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VRC] | VeriCoin | POS - NSDI | VeriBit | VeriSend | VeriSMS on: July 13, 2014, 11:26:46 PM
Out of the chaos comes innovation.
Please implement the following in all coins from here on :

- A voting system that rewards 1 vote per coin
- This voting system can be used to see the true position of all coins holders on topics of interest
- This voting system can be used specifically to determine if a rollback should or should not occur
- Holding the vote inside the client instead of outside the client (such as an external site) gives true weight to opinions of actual coin holders
- It's not a perfect system but it is as close to "de-centralized" as we can come at this time
- It may give more voting "stock" to those that own more coins instead of individuals but those people should have a strong interest in the coin's future
- Addresses or votes that control stolen coins can possibly be "ignored" by some means

All coin developers please take note of this and consider it seriously.

It's pretty obvious at this point money cannot exist without some central trust.
Day in and day out watching crypto in it's current state it's pretty clear now.
Not ready for a trustless system.

If someone finds a better way... go invent it - be my guest.

BTC was forked 100 times

Most coins are seeing some drops after the Mintpal scare.
I personally dumped a couple other coins but I have held all my SHIELD.

Looks like Shield is on the way back up nice and easy.
Not too fast... Don't get crazy Tongue

There is no real possible scam to me unless there is a pre-mine to dump.
That's how I play this game.

I mean... get real Smiley We are all playing just another version of a money game. With ALL these coins including BTC.
And out of it will hopefully come some new technology that will be passed along with each new coin.
Don't ever forget that. And don't play with what you cannot lose.

I consider it a good clean fight with no IPO and no pre-mine.

If copying was a scam then everything is a scam. Everything on earth.
Think about that.
