1701  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why would i still invest in bitcoin? on: January 02, 2014, 12:45:07 PM
Remember that the same hashing power that secures the bitcoin blockchain can also secure various others at the same time at near zero additional cost.

There are various different speeds of coin merged-mined alongside bitcoin, including one (GeistGeld) that is so crazy fast that some pools think it is too fast to be effectively merged mined, thus too darn fast to be secured.

DOGE recently showed us that almost all the GPU-mined coins could be PWNed overnight just by some stupid internet meme.  DOGE itself only has as much hashing power as a stupid internet meme can, almost overnight, conjure up. So it and all those that have less GPUs dedicated to securing them are all just garbage, toys, sitting there waiting for anon or some internet meme or who-ever or whatever to PWN the lot of them.

So if you want really crazy fast, help determine whether GeistGeld is too fast to work, and if so maybe push to have it slowed down to whatever is the fastest that can actually practically be secured. Meanwhile check out the other merged coins, some more of them are much faster than Bitcoin but not so stupidly fast as to be impractical to secure...

From when on does the security becomes impractical?
1702  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Why would i still invest in bitcoin? on: January 02, 2014, 12:32:08 PM
There are coins comming out that are better on many things.
Most important in my eyes: speed

There was always the trouble of the long confirmations with btc, so i can't imagine the use of it in daily life will be so easy.
Like buying your bread with btc if you need to wait 5 minutes before its comfirmed.
I never bought anything with btc so i don't have experience with it.

But there are coins with practically instant transaction times, aren't these the coins of the future?
And isn't bitcoin a bit outdated?

1703  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [WTS/WTB] Velocitycoin Buy/Sell Spreadsheet on: January 02, 2014, 10:00:35 AM
dont know why this coin is so unpopular
its scrypt-jane has nice logo very fast transactions just like QQcoin. dont know why people ignore it.
its very good coin. once it hits the exchange it gonna explode in price. meanwhile people are buying cheap ass VEL here in forum .

Its the marketing, not alot of ppl know of the coin.
This is good, for us Wink we can buy cheap, and then it hits exchanges and boom!
1704  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Most Promising Altcoins for 2014 on: January 01, 2014, 08:38:52 PM
QQcoin , Volacitycoin and earthcoin. They are all super fast and the first 2 don't have alot of coins so could be worth alot.
See it like a bitcoin 2,0
1705  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / How can velocitycoin get buried? on: December 31, 2013, 09:23:53 AM
This coin is fast doesn't has a billion coins and gets buried under all these crapcoins.
The transaction speed is very fast, but noone seems to pay attention to it.
Are you guys just not aware of existance?

Isn't this the 2nd gen coin we have been waiting for..
1706  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN][ARC] AgileReserveCoin | Risk management systerm | CPU & GPU mining on: December 31, 2013, 09:16:08 AM
darwinism for currency. what times

Yes the crapcoins and clones like doge get on top , but actually coins that try to be different and are in some ways better get buried.

Real darwinism..
1707  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Velocitycoin Pools, Explorers, Giveaways, Escrow, Trade on: December 31, 2013, 09:00:55 AM
For such a smooth launch, this coin really went unnoticed.

Yes this coins needs a better marketing startegy.
You are nothing with a good coin unless you show to the people you have a coin worth mining and buying.
They need to spend more on giveaways, bounty's, general promotion (like video, social networking,...) otherwise this coin will be buried under all the crapcoins with better marketing and visibility.

And its actually a good coin: fast transaction , no billion coins

The only thing it needs now is more marketing and not beeing greedy to spend some coins on that.
1708  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN][ARC] AgileReserveCoin | Risk management systerm | CPU & GPU mining on: December 31, 2013, 08:52:13 AM
So.. why doesn't this have more attention?
1709  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] QQCoin- Download Now- Quick Quick Coin is exactly that, QUICK!- Pools on: December 31, 2013, 08:29:25 AM
what happens with our QQcoin? is it dead? only cipher pool still alive
any plans for a future support?

This coin needs better marketing, more giveaways , etc..

Actually not a bad coin but needs to be more in de spotlight with all these other crapcoins next to it.
1710  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Asia’s Richest Man Invests In Bitcoin !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! on: December 30, 2013, 04:10:33 PM
old news..
1711  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will any alt coin reach 1000$? on: December 30, 2013, 12:11:33 PM
EAC (Earthcoins) less and QQ (quickcoins) cmore chances to hit 1k$ in a year

 Roll Eyes

If Earthcoin hits 1k Iam going to buy my own spaceshuttle :b

earthcoin will definitely be worth something but 1k is impossible because of the total amount of coins.
1712  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple #2 CoinMarketCap.com ! on: December 30, 2013, 11:33:08 AM
Great site for those who are not blinded by all the bullshit that is being rubbed in their eyes:

http://ripplescam.org/

Oh why don't people read what others have already said about this. This site contains mostly misinformation and is designed to spread FUD.
The author of that site (TradeFortress) had a vested interest in damaging Ripple because it's a competitor to part of his own business.
Guess what? People who trusted TradeFortress have lost a lot of money to a dubious hack, there are accusations against him floating around but I've not followed them enough to make a sound judgement, so I just leave it as it is.
At the end of the day, trusting Ripple Labs was a lot wiser than trusting TradeFortress.

Onkel Paul

I'm not saying i trust TradeFortress, but i found the info about what ripple was interesting to say the least.
So are you saying that what info there is on ripplescam is false?

Also misinformation or not, having 0,01% having practicely all the coins says enough to me to stay away from it.
1713  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple #2 CoinMarketCap.com ! on: December 30, 2013, 11:09:33 AM

Excellent. Four people who are illiterate and haven't done their homework (how embarrassing). Go run your own Ripple node and then come back.

I dare you.

90 billion ripple are owned by the top 15 holders. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ap6WwaNTa-L3dHFhMWtEM251akdrLXo0TmVYa0RmS3c#gid=0

keep spreading your lies that won't make the ripple price go higher.

Again +1

This is really the opposite of what cryptocurrency's were made for.
If i wanted to have a currency where the 0,1% (or in this case 0,01%) has 99% of the money i wouldn't have invested my money in crypto's.

Stop spreading your propaganda for your coin that stands exactly for what is wrong with our economy.

Great site for those who are not blinded by all the bullshit that is being rubbed in their eyes:

1714  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: This sub-forum is over... on: December 30, 2013, 09:13:42 AM
The only thing they need to do is making subforums within the alt section. That would solve everything.

And cryptocointalk is not as active a forum as here
1715  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: VelocityCoin ----- Best coin for all on: December 30, 2013, 09:07:07 AM
I like the velocity coin, the transaction speed is amazing.

+ there aren't a 500 billion coins available like alot of coins.

Do you know anything about the premine?

1719  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Coinex offline? on: December 30, 2013, 08:49:28 AM
Just woke up, site is offline. Maintenance or something happened?
1720  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I just send money to a wrong coin on: December 30, 2013, 12:17:13 AM
not possible

It was on coinex, will it be bounced back to my acc?

No, it will be in limbo until you reach out to Coinex and let them know about it.  They can export the necessary keys and retrieve your coins.  Just send them all the necessary transaction details and they should be able to resolve usually within a day or two.

This was very helpful, made a ticket out to them. Thanks!
