try a recovery application like recuva. also make sure to install or save as little new stuff on the drive as possible. the more you write onto it, the higher the chance of your wallet being overwritten.
22  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Poclbm crashing with aticaldd.dll? on: June 18, 2011, 10:39:07 AM
My 6950 wasn't too stable either using guiminer, I switched to phoenix rising, and thats so much better. What clocks are you running on? maybe its just bad cards?
EDIT - just saw that its because of multiple poclbm threads processes; have you tried setting priority/affinity in task manager?
23  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Playing games while mining with the same GFX card on: June 18, 2011, 10:35:07 AM
If you want to, you can set priority permanently using a program like prifinnity; sets affinity and priority automatically.
24  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: MSI Afterburner just allow memories down to 500, but it freezes at 500.. on: June 18, 2011, 10:31:28 AM
I have heard of this before, people say instability is between 500-600 MHz. Have you tried skipping that range, and clocking it even lower? As the others said, opening and closing MSI AB will lower your limits...
25  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Installed a 6950, No Onboard Sound on: June 18, 2011, 10:28:09 AM
Check if theres a header/jumper (usually the second) on your motherboard that turns on/off hdmi audio out. Also check where your front panel header is connected to, if that is where you are getting your sound from, you might have plugged it into the wrong 12 pin header (usually something along the lines of FNT_PNL, rather than AC97).
26  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: No mining with two cards (x1 and x16) on: June 17, 2011, 08:20:33 PM
Ok the Problem was the PSU. I have a new PSU XFX Core Edition PRO850W 80 PLUS Bronze that is ok. My old PSU was a shity no Name Model.
Thanks for the answer. Now i ready for mining. Grin

Excellent choice, I'm running the same one here. That can take 4 5830s easily

You don't need the extra molex unless you're running 5970 or 6990. Or if you know that your mobo can't handle the power (i.e. if it has only a 4 pin 12v connector, not an 8 pin)
28  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Must have tool for multi-gpu/cpu windows miners! on: June 16, 2011, 10:04:22 AM
I've been using prifinnity. low overhead, can be set on startup, overrides task manager.
29  Economy / Marketplace / Re: New Windows Gadget for BTC on: June 15, 2011, 01:02:34 PM
Great gadget, I bought it. But I also found refresh time of 15mins is too much, set it much much shorter.

ah, i understand what you're saying...well...that really stinks.   I have to ask though, if i bought le-*ts say....2 of these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817104054 and ran 2 cards per secondary psu, would that work?

edit nevermind, just realized that the supplementary psu is too small to support 2 of those cards./ >.> fek!

I'd suggest you get 2 XFX 750W psus, those are great value for money. Even two different ones where the combined 12V rails are over 105A and the ripple/noise are bearable (i.e. no coolermaster, sharkoon, rosewill, etc. etc.), because you'll be stressing those psus quite a bit (especially if you are planning to OC). In that case, ripple and noise are at a peak and can shorten the lifetime or even directly cause instability/damage your components.
Also you might want to consider two different power psus, depending on how you split up CPU/GPU load.

Underclock and undervoltage the cards, i'm running a 500W PC with 4 unlocked 6950.

Shocked I'm running a 6950 + 5830 with an XFX 850W hahaha. Talk about overkill...
31  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 6950 dilemma - breaking 320 MH/s on: June 15, 2011, 10:46:02 AM
hey,
to optimise performance with the 6950, try following my steps posted here: http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=14962.msg200573#msg200573

You can unlock the upper limits in both MSI afterburner and CCC overdrive, for overdrive the method is more complicated but I find it much more stable and efficient. That method is outlined here: http://www.overclock.net/amd-ati/954528-all-radeon-6950-only-flashing-shader-5.html#post12819472
Happy mining!

How about mtgoxlive.com? That has live info, though it is a website not a toolbar.
33  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining with 2 different cards on: June 13, 2011, 11:40:59 PM
Hey,
Sure, I'm happy to help! My mobo just broke down (not due to mining) but I managed to get the setup working with Catalyst overclock on the 6950 and Rivatuner low-level OC on the 5830. That way there was no need for afterburner and the instability at high OCs that comes with it. In the end I was putting out 405MH/s + 280MH/s !!! Then I moved the PC, plugged it in again, and I assume static or the missing ground connection in my wall socket killed it.
Good luck!
34  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: damn i wasted money on 6970 on: June 13, 2011, 07:23:22 PM
So is the stock cooler on the high end AMD cards up to the task of GPU mining? or will the cards burn out faster from being insufficiently cooled?

Still, I am quite curious.

My unlocked 6950 keeps up perfectly. ATM in a (temporary) bad case, noise is audible but not terrible, OC to 920/1250 and fan at 68%. Temps are at a constant 62C. Usually I do 950Mhz core, but my mobo fried (not due to mining), throwing out a nice 405 MH/s. I try to keep my temps below 75C all the time, and its possible. However, at night I have to underclock, its just too loud or gets too hot.

Mining at 950 core with fan at 100% leaves temps at 57C. So in short, yes the stock (reference) coolers are up to the task by far.
35  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Eelectrity: How much do you need to pay per KW/H on: June 13, 2011, 06:56:37 PM
I have 0.21 euros/kWh here in the Netherlands... but my rent is a fixed all-inclusive tariff, so the landlord is gonna be in for quite a surprise at the end of this month Shocked! Whatever he was already overcharging anyway.
36  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 5830's back in stock at Newegg - $110 Shipped on: June 13, 2011, 06:14:23 PM
That's a pretty neat deal. Over here they are about 100 euro's per card... Newegg doesn't ship to the Netherlands, does it?  Grin
Hey I'm in NLD too and I got my 3 at Alternate for 94 each. Otherwise, you could get them from Germany for 88 Euros each... have a couple friends there that will get me some.
37  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Sapphire 6950 v2 non-reference performance on: June 11, 2011, 10:08:30 AM
Ok as these guys said the key is to put power control at +20. I was able to do that when I used CCC, but now I got a 5830 alongside it and CCC had too low limits. So I have to use MSI AB, and I only get 355MH/s on my reference Sapphire 6950 (unlocked) rather than the 405MH/s before. My problem is that with afterburner on, the power control slider resets itself every time you press apply... so anyone have a solution? A proper solution would be worth some bit dimes to me.
38  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining with 2 different cards on: June 11, 2011, 09:25:09 AM
Hi, I have a similar setup, and I have to admit it was VERY challenging to set up. My rig: 6950 unlocked, and just got a 5830 for mining. Before the 5830 I got ~405 MH/s off my 6950, using overdrive only, stock voltage, clocks at 950/1250 and power control at +20.

Reinstalled the drivers for the 5830 now, so I dont have the OC range from the modded overdrive anymore, therefore I use MSI Afterburner atm. 925/350 stock voltage on 6950 and 988/315 stock on 5830. 6950 only gives out 355MH/s now though Cry , but in total its worth it I think.

In order to get afterburner to give you the OC range, go to the install location, and modify the afterburner.cfg file like so:
Find the line "UnofficialOverclockingEULA" and replace it and the following line with this:

UnofficialOverclockingEULA   = I confirm that I am aware of unofficial overclocking limitations and fully understand that MSI will not provide me any support on it
UnofficialOverclockingMode   = 1

Taken directly from my config.

Hope I helped you, I know I could have used this kinda help hahaha. PM me, or post if you need anything, I'm subbing thread.
