What about SSL?

Not sure what SSL you refer to? I only know SSL to mean Secure Sockets Layer.

Please enlighten me if you mean this SSL to be a skill based game.

thanks.

He is referring about adding https to the website.

Oh, ok. Thanks rz20.

Yeah, Chances are I will be adding this after Beta, but as things stand, the places where sensitive information goes through have https. Plus, the very nature of the site means an SSL might not even be needed. But, that's by the way.

I am looking for about 25 Beta Testers for my newly launched SkillGameBets.com website, that allows you bet against family, friends, and other people on games of skill such as chess, scrabble, Pool/Snooker, Tic Tac Toe, and more.

I was initially going to offer Bitcoins exclusively as the website currency, but it was proving quite a mission implementing Bitcoin as a payment processor, that I put it on hold till further notice. So for now, only real US Dollar payments can be used.

But I still need to go ahead with the project, so given that I will still be including Bitcoin as a method of payment, I thought how appropriate it would be to bring this service to this community.

FREE 25 Demo Dollars to First 25 People

As this is a Beta launch, if after visiting the site and the idea interests you, kindly reply to this thread and leave your username on the website and I will credit your account with free 25 Demo Dollars to use to take the website for a spin.

Being Demo Dollars, and NOT real money, you can't expect to bank any winnings.

Lastly, please also feel free to come back here to give your thoughts and suggest improvements, and find flaws (of which there will be quite a few).

Thanks,
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is Bitcoin's next catalyst for growth ? on: December 13, 2013, 07:56:30 PM
For the good and sustained growth of the currency, methinks a $3000 (or even $200; heck, even $1500) mark will even more fuel the "speculative" talk surrounding bitcoin, and consequently probably erode trust and adoption by the 'right thinking' customer/consumer. So I would personally rather not see this happen.

That said, i think the next big price hike (or decline) will happen when the next 'major' news about bitcoins comes online. e.g. when the US committee held it's hearing, price jumped to the $1000 mark. but fell down to $800 when the news from china's government to banks not to have anything to do with it.

So perhaps it's a very heavy hitter like Amazon or Walmart et al, any other 'lesser' offline (or online) adoption will not have a huge impact on price. Perhaps except to encourage more businesses and customers to adopt it.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I really dont think bitcoin is going to be a day2day currency on: December 13, 2013, 07:43:01 PM
We don't need it to be a day-to-day currency. Just an alternative alongside established currencies is good enough. Just like we always say having a choice/options for the customer is good for him/her.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: For Bitcoin to go mainstream, we have to advance past B2C to B2B. on: December 13, 2013, 05:13:09 PM
I think B2B btc transactions might not have the volume that might be needed to make it mainstream as you say. While it will no doubt be a good thing, but ultimately, from my observation the rise in popularity in bitcoins(from a customer usage perspective, as opposed to speculators seeking to profit) has been more as a result of people (Customers) hearing about it and researching it and taking a gamble on using it, and businesses seeing the interest  bitcoins generate in their clients mind and choosing to offer same as a payment option.

Methinks a lot of B2B's will be reluctant to adopt bitcoins because of the uncertainty and un-regulation of the currency, and at such will want some sort of security in cases of disputes for instance. But when a lot of a company's clients demand it, a forward thinking company will listen to the voice of that customer.

Solution? Slow and steady wins the race. Small, sustained growth and use of bitcoins (be it B2B or B2C) will see it become more mainstream. Not to mention it getting some more positive comments/actions from the powers that be.
9  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Qt Bitcoin Trader [Open Source secure trading client for Mac/Windows/Linux] on: December 11, 2013, 10:23:28 PM
This project does sound very promising and i can forsee where it can be valuable...

Next, please pardon me and the fact that i haven't read all the posts in this thread, so i don't know if this has been discussed, but one possible problem i see is from the exchanges - mtgox, etc. Isn't it remotely possible that they could notice some 'unusual activity' going on in their system from the client side of things. e.g. noticing an 'unusually' high number of buy/sell trades coming from one account/IP address/etc, and/or perhaps an unusually tight or small buy/sell price margins. eg, buy = $100; sell = $101... more so if there are lots of these in a short space of time. Could these be red flag to exchanges?

More so given the newness of these exchanges and the issues people report about some of them. eg coinbase and their "high risk" transactions that people here say coibase talks about?
10  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Anyone have positive experience with Kraken? on: December 09, 2013, 09:05:44 PM
I have an account with Kraken, though I have made no buy/sell transaction as yet. only done so via localbitcoins, which went well and fast.

Will come back to update this post when When I make a transaction, but the one thing that drew me to them, is the fact that this page says they are legally compliant: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Buying_bitcoins (search for Kraaken)

And while i haven't been able to find exactly what law they comply with, i believe the fact that the company is US based, must mean it is US laws. Maybe someone else can comment on this?
11  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Businesses and Developers, Let's Get Started! on: December 09, 2013, 06:54:52 PM
I am about to launch a website where my clients will need to regularly buy bitcoins. I am looking for someone who has a large amount of bitcoins (or can get it on demand) from whom i can buy from on a regular basis, and at a good rate. These will be small/micro payments, usually between $5-$20 worth of bitcoins per transaction.

Anyone interested? PM me or see my profile for my email address.
