61  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Did we all just get scammed by mrugala group buy? on: February 11, 2014, 07:25:34 PM
I posted this in my thread but mrugala asked me to post in here as well.  I have been sent back .2BTC and he wants to know how much more he owes me.

I think as of right now we have to take this man at his word.  I see a few other posts in this thread that look similar to mine.

I wrote already he is very good at psychology, so he basically just made you to defend him for small payment. Unless he returns all of the money he remains a scammer. Maybe he already purchased some cards from stolen money and will send partial payments for a while so he considers it as a loan.
I doubt I will ever see a cent from him.

The guy even setup his face to face meeting/assault with a mysterious individual who spoke exactly like him, lived nearby, and registered the day after him.

How can you guys fall for this stuff? Just amazes me.

Does your warning include Newbies that start the now largest group buy co-op after being on this forum for ONLY two weeks?

If so, does your warning include said above if a warehouse/datacenter is claimed to be purchased, but later changed to being only a month-to-month lease, then moved to a new location, then moved again, recently now at some unknown location in a different state?

Also, what if all parties vetted each other, does the warning still apply?

I know, it's a reach, and this post may come across as being penned by a troll living in his mommy's van down by the river, but pretend it's true, and enlighten me. Meanwhile, I'll go and refill my quiver while I await your kind reply.

~TMIBTCITW

My warning was in mrugala's initial group buy thread, back when his account was only 3 weeks old. Apparently people only like doing business with brand new disposable accounts.

My question is did the first group buy actually take place?

I was under the impression that it did, but then again I'm a stupid noobie because apparently it didn't.

He is from Poland, so maybe you can try to search on Polish subforums here...
Anyway to be honest I can only agree this was masterpiece from him, he even created nationalist emotions between his two usernames and made other users defend him. He is at least very good at psychology. Unfortunately the ticket I paid for this theater performance was too high imho

Agreed my seat cost me BTC2.  A blow that has devastated my mining operation and pretty much shut it down for a while as I attempt to recoup.
65  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: mrugala group buy scammed! on: February 10, 2014, 05:34:22 AM
Never again will I buy without escrow, even from respected members with extensive trade histories.

Sorry to hear about the bad luck but your making bad choice on no more group buys overall.  Have had many good groups I've bought from.  The one you bought from was on second batch, so that is in no means extensive trade histories.

Always keep in mind if it sounds to good to be true... it normally is.  If major retail stores are having trouble keeping stock's of GPU's and someone comes along claiming to have access to lots of gpus and at super price.... should raise red flags.

Im just an idiot with 2BTC less.
66  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: mrugala Sapphire R9 280x GB gone to hell on: February 10, 2014, 05:32:06 AM
I got scammed for 2BTC.  Ouchies.  I'll hold my breath for the 'refund' lolz.  This was a hardcore stinger for me I saved up that 2 for a while.  I'm not sure that its a blow that can't be recovered from but it sure hurt.  If I had to guess what went down.

He collected the bitcoin from us.  In recent days bitcoin prices crashed. He couldn't convert the BTC into enough fiat to get the cards from his 'friend'.  He will wait until the price recovers and count his ill-gotten coins all the way to the bank.

67  Bitcoin / Group buys / mrugala group buy scammed! on: February 10, 2014, 05:26:13 AM
To all who participated in the mrugala's group buy. We have been scammed.  You won't be receiving your cards or a refund.  Just a heads up, lost BTC2. I thought that him having a successful first group buy he could be trusted.  I was dead wrong. Never again will I buy without escrow, even from respected members with extensive trade histories.

This my friends was a hard lesson learned and it hurt big time.
68  Economy / Scam Accusations / Did we all just get scammed by mrugala group buy? on: February 10, 2014, 05:16:45 AM
So his group buy is closed with this message.  Does anyone believe this?  Did we just get scammed?  I lost BTC2.

EDIT:

This is mrugala wife. My husband asked me to inform you as soon as possible. He is currently in hospital due to his meeting with one of the client... What the client did is robbed his of his wallet and password with 2 other guys. We tried reporting it to police but they said that they don't deal with "Guild Wars or World of Warcraft gold is not withing our reach, please talk with Bitcoin developer". We should get some money from the indemnity.

Please PM us address on which You would like Your refund. There will be 105% refunds of what You send. Please be patient our rig earns 1 BTC a month and my husbands salary is also about 1 BTC per month, and I have some on my wallet - it will take up to 3-4 months to refund to everyone. We will start refunds from people who invested the most. Once again we are sorry. I closed the thread because I don't want to read bad things about my man. This is a tragedy for us all, but I think that hits us the most, please understand...

The best tip I can give you is to play with your settings, all of them, until you find the ones that give you the most WU.

Start by tuning your TC (should be a multiplier of your shaders +1 - usually, mine is just a multiplier of the shaders) as well as your gpu-threads and after this move to worksize.
Your next step is to up your mem clock until you see a decline in KH/s and then turn it down a notch. Then go tune the gpu core, some cards will like it faster, others will like it slower, same deal here, tune it until you see a decline in performance, and than take back a notch.

I recommend you do this all in stock voltage, and only after you find settings you like, undervolt it.

Or you could always try and copy others settings, or at the very least, start tweaking from there: https://litecoin.info/Mining_hardware_comparison

My card has normal setting and uber setting dual bios. Should I be using the normal or uber mode bios?

Ya We've got some PC 290 (non-x), and they get pretty mediocre hashrates. Tell me, does yours have Elpida ram?

Yeah they are all elpida. I will say they are pretty amazing for gaming lol

Hey guys,

I'm fairly new to GPU mining and am wondering why I can't seem to get more than 830kh/s on my power color 290x cards.  These are primarily for gaming but when they aren't used for gaming I've been mining with them.  Link to card specs = http://www.powercolor.com/us/products_features.asp?id=521

They never get above 65c and my water loop is solid.

Here is my config file.  Any tips/pointers would be greatly appreciated and if you can get me over 900k a nice donation will be made to you in BTC. I have afterburner undervolting the cards at -31. It seems these do better when undervolted. I am using dual 1000w platinum power supplies.

When reading the ANN I was sooooo stoked.  I was intrigued with every line! Until I came to 5% premine.  Thats when my heart broke and I'm going to say no thanks!

the basic idea behind this is a good one, but there are economics laws that you are ignoring.

You have no way to set a price for a coin. Once it hits an exchange the market will tell you what it's worth unless you are holding the coins hostage or you have the funds in reserve to back each coin. You do not have this.

I admire the thinking here though, and I'm curious how you plan on enforcing this - because I'd like to just print up two million of whatever currency I like as well.

76  Economy / Reputation / MegabitMonster Trust Thread on: February 02, 2014, 07:38:42 PM
Hi all.  I am posting this thread for leaserig.net.

The rig runs at about 3.3MH/s.  The rig is liquid cooled and stable.
77  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: January 31, 2014, 04:57:11 AM
That's a nice setup. What kinda rad/pump did you use? How are the temps?

I'm no watercooling expert, but is it a good idea to run 4 waterblocks in series?

Probably not the greatest idea but it seems to be working.  I'm still experimenting with the build out and this isn't complete yet.  As of now I am using a EXOS from Koolance.  I hear a lot of drama from the OC forums about Koolance but so far its good and what is nice, is that its an all in one unit.

The cards are hashing at 860 each and temps are 70.  I am also an aquarist so I'm thinking about talking to my supplier for my fish stuff about getting a small chiller with built in pump and adding it to the loop.
