1  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: BitMinter.com * Optional Custom Miner, PPLNS, Merged mining, Newbie-Friendly! * on: January 07, 2014, 03:46:01 AM
I found BitMinter because I couldn't stand trying to put together a BAT file but here is approx what I recall doing.

You'll need to make a Notepad file in the cgminer folder and ensure you've got file extensions showing.

cgminer -o stratum+tcp://mint.bitminter.com:3333 -u RealNewbit_Newbit -p X

Where RealNewbit is your BitMinter login name and Newbit is the worker name you made on the website. Then you close the file and change the file extension to .bat

From then on clicking on the BAT file will launch cgminer and should have the pool information correct. I'm not sure what sort of drivers you need to support the Furys or if you need any additional commands for cgminer to pick them up but thats a place to start.

tHANKS, I'm certain i'll get it now with all the advise on here, much appreciated, I believe the config file I made I could change to a .bat file as that was starting it, just cgminer uses winusb drivers rather than the silicon labs that install first time you plug eruptors in, so if I get some antminers, furys i'll need to do it anyway, learning with every wrong move and helpfull comments.

cheers.

thanks, it is driving me mad, but that's good, that's when I get to the bottomof something. I'll get it to work, somehow?

Where exactly does that command go? in a config file or ? anywhere ive typed it  I get a nnot an executable file or something like that? will I need to change all the drivers on my usb's reboot then try cgminer, if I want to upgrade I need to learn how to use it.

Some kid will have a how to on youtube, they aways do......LOL

Tnanks, I had better start learning how to use cgminer for Bitminter then, have it dowloaded but I believe I need to make a file so it knows to connect to the site?

Basic operation:

cgminer -o stratum+tcp://mint.bitminter.com:3333 -u user_worker -p X

Hi, OK, Been trying it out, cgminer that is, getting mixed messages, some say make a .bat file, others(?most)a config file so I made a config file, the part that is puzzling me, "user_worker" lets say my worker was newbit which it isn't,should that be user_newbit ? or should it be my login at bitminter lets say it's RealNewbit, that would be " RealNewbit_Newbit "

I know I'll have to change drivers to start with cgminer but I need to learn it if i'm going to try and get better hardware.

Thanks.

Excellent, thanks for your help and explaining it in a way that is pretty much idiot proof.  Wink

so, no file needed? just type that command with my user(worker)name and pw into the X-Terminal that opens up on cgminer and i'm off? if so, I can do that...lol    Thanks mate, And Happy New Year, may it be a fruitful one.

Hi, another Newb Question, will these newer USB Devices AntMiner/Blue/redFury etc. work in a USB Hub alongside the basic block eruptors I have? They could massivelly improve my Ghs on the little £ that I have, I don't want to sell some of my RC Gear to find they are incompatible.

Bitminter client support for blue/red fury is not quite 100% yet. Antminer support I hope to add in the future. But it should certainly work with bfgminer or cgminer. At least in theory. Someone else will have to answer on what kind of usb hub and hub power supply would be needed to support that.

Hi, real newbie question, i'm using block eruptors, not many, 6, but i'm just learning how it works, I bought them 1 day £20 on ebay, 2days later I go to buy 2 or 3 more and they are £60 each, WHAAAAT??   But that's another story, really what I want to know is,.....

In my worker settings it has several different ones with a default option, the 1 that i'm interested in is dificulty, it was at 2, I put it at 4, no bad results, so I changed it to 6, is there a rule of thumb for setting this as i'm guessing, 6 eruptors, set it at 6?HuhHuh

What should it be at for the best results for 6 usb eruptors or is that unrelated?

Thnx in advance.

Edit: I put it back to 4, as soon as the change in my worker took effect my Ghs dropped considerably and 1 kept stopping altogether then trying to start up again.

Trial and error, VERY INTERESTING, THINK SOME Nitro RC Helis and Planes and some electrics may be going on an auction near you, in order TO GET ME SOME DECENT HARDWARE (OOPS) Just noticed the caps as I type 1 finger still, per hand so getting better, and have to look at keys...LOL

We are under ddos attack again. Some users are experiencing problems connecting because they get filtered along with the attackers. We are working on improving the filtering right now to prevent this from happening. Working on this right now.

Excellent, Great Site you have, others must hate it, if it wasn't for bitminter i'd probably still be faffing about with "how to" vids from 12 year olds on you tube.   lol

Cheers!

Could not get my client(any of them) to mine for about half an hour, 2nd time today but first time a restart sorted it out.

This time after trying everything I simply unticked port 80 and it all jumped back to life. This was after trying everything I could think of involving restarts mainly.

I see others in top 50 are way off on their G/Hshs , maybe This could help?

Hi, I can still log in but I cannot get the Minter app to start, I noticed it had stopped when I came in, I went out abt 9 am UK time and came back about 12 noon UK time, I still cannot get the App/Minter/Engine to start, I have tried re-intalling Java, a re-boot, cleared cache, and the usual other try its!!

Are you unable to launch the app? Or does it fail to mine when you click engine start within the Bitminter client?

Hi, sorry for not replying, it doesn't matter I spilled a drink on my laptop and killed it, I think it wasn't mining once started, that is still a problem on the older laptop i'm using, Vista AMD , HOWEVER, 1.3.2 is working fine, numbers on the client are way off but on bitminter they are spot on for the number of eruptors i'm using.
But the latest client wont even acknowledge they exist, sometimes it finds them and gives errors, other times it doesn't find them?

But, safe to say, i have no liquid close.

Hi, yeh the stats have come back on the Live Stat page, how long it took I don't know, I forgot that window was open.

Yeh, I'm thinking the same, all this time and my little Gadgets doing nothing   Sad

Was getting decent results through the night, must be lots who turn off, Ive left mine going 24/7 since I got my first batch of goodies, now to decide on the next gadget, a few furys that can be plugged in literally anywhere I go or a Hmmmmmmm, decisions decisions.

Hope you are right, seems about 9.49 am UK my worker bugged out, hopefully it is just taking some time to get access to everyone.

cheers, didn't know others had problems.

I still cannot get the Engine to fire up, I also notice that on the Live stats page there are no lists of names like usual, is there a bug? some downtime for a fix?

Or do I need Help?

Any suggestions, "Do this" would be greatly appreciated, being loving every second of Bitminter although as the username on here suggests, I am late to the game.

Hope it's just some downtime, if not HELP !!!!!!

Regards,

16  Other / Beginners & Help / Cannot get the Bitminter 1 Click miner to open? on: December 10, 2013, 03:44:13 PM
All was fine for days, Mining away with a bank of Asics on a Multi-Port Hub, Ok a small bank on a small 10 port hub BUT it was still working fine.

Like Bitminter has from day 1 it was a dream for a newbie like me, lets me in to this mystery pretty easily sort of plug/play and forget. while you learn about all the other stuff out here.

Anyway, sometime this morning UK time it stopped working Sad and when I got in and realised I thought, not a problem, just restart the "Engine" right !!

Ehhh, nope, tried everything, re-install of this, the clearout of that, the usual re-boot.

NOTHING, Absolutely Nothing will get the minter to start, not even the test minter, not even the older versions.

HEYELP, as that Cartoon lady penelepe pitstop shouted.

Seriously, Any Help greatly appreciated

Absolutely love Bitminter as well. Driving me nuts thinking off all this wasted time.

Cheers,

a true,

NewbitNewbit
