Have you seen the BS that crypto.com is getting rid of the MCO coin?

https://twitter.com/cryptocom/status/1290174946732175362

What sort of bs is that to just eradicate a coin out of nowhere. The only reason I signed up to crypto.com was to get the visa card so I could rack up some MCO because I saw the potential in it with it's fairly limited supply and the demand was there because you needed to buy it to get the cards so I could see the potential in it as crypto.com grew and people signed up for the card and their various rewards. Now they're forcing us to swap it for a coin that has billions in supply and is never going to be worth as much as MCO could have been.

Has this ever been done before? I guess this is the problem with centralized coins as they can just do whatever they want with them. I wonder if they'll be lawsuits over this as they're essentially just deleting an entire currency on their own whim.

Here is a small curiosity... guy bought a house with MCO Crypto card  Cheesy

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3wlH1eR_b4

The guy is buying a house using the MCO card and here I am still waiting for my card lol. @guysatcrypto.com any idea when the rest of the world is going to receive their MCO card? Would be great if I could show my small purchases too.

I saw that and thought it was really cool. Houses are damn cheap there though.

Does anyone know about the MCO staking to get better interest rates? It says if you have 500 or more MCO staked that you can get better interest but does that have to be when you stake for the card and not in the regular 'crypto earn' -- if that makes any sense? When you stake for the card initially it seems that goes into a separate MCO pot which you have to lock up for six months and doesn't earn interest -- unless I'm mistaken. If you then staked 500 MCO in the crypto earn would this then quality you for the higher interest? I'm thinking it doesn't but locking 500 MCO for six months when you could have it in the regular crypto earn feature earning you interest every month doesn't seem worth it.

~

What have you bought? Cause paypal can easily charge you more on some fees
Do you have the paypal reciept for this transaction? Take a look on the details for what exaclty was you charged for

It looks like he's saying crypto.com charged him that not Paypal. If you pay through Paypal they usually show you the fees and what it costs before you click submit.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: Brave Browser Crypto Rewards Program on: July 02, 2020, 09:28:59 AM
How I get ads on Brave is really inconsistent. I downloaded the android browser and I get much more adverts than the desktop version. Often they even pop up when I'm not even using the browser which doesn't happen on the desktop. Hopefully the advertisers that use it will grow quickly because I'm getting kinda bored of the same old adverts popping up time and time again  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy.

So if they transfer the provider will the current card render useless and they would have to reissue the cards?

I agree when I first staked in their platform I was really worried too that they will shut down shop run away with funds.

I would imagine that the cards will need to be reissued by the new company, but it only effects users in Europe I think. Maybe there's someway to transfer accounts since the cards are issued by VISA but it probably depends on how operative and cooperative the defunct company is if at all.
Curve was another fintech company affect by the Wirecard fiasco. I got an email later this morning saying the card is working again.
No need to re-issue.
I hope Crypto.com can do the same

Yah, it's apparently working again now. Gotta admit I thought it might be one of things that takes forever to sort out.

Does anyone know if you can easily set up direct debits on the card? I'm assuming you can as they offer you cashback on subscription services like Netflix and spotify, but does anyone know if you would get the cashback rewards on paying a credit card balance with it? I have an amazon credit card and I like to use that currently to collect their reward points but it would be great if I could pay the balance with the crypto.com card every month and collect the crypto cash back for that direct debit as well.

6  Other / Off-topic / Re: To afraid to travel due to Covid-19 on: June 26, 2020, 02:05:17 PM
When are you do to go and how are you traveling there? Airplane? Are you insured for cancellations? A friend of mine had a holiday booked for around about now but they managed to get it cancelled and refunded because of covid. Now the various world governments have started to relax the restrictions it might be a bit more difficult to do so, however. If we have a so called second wave you might end up stranded like a lot of people were initially. As for traveling abroad I think there's minimal chance of catching the disease home or away and even less chance of dying from it if you do but if you're very worried about it it's going to put a big dampener on your holiday and if you can't relax there's probably not much point of going.

Wirecard AG filed for insolvency in Germany today.
To all our card customers: your fiat funds are safe and guaranteed by http://Crypto.com — in case any of the services provided by Wirecard are disrupted, you will receive a fast 100% credit back to your crypto wallet.

Did Wirecard supply the cards to crypto.com? If yes will we still be able to use the cards that they provided if the Wirecard completely shutdown?

It seems not:

I'm really in two minds whether to use them at all. I'd like to but something just seems wrong. I think there's certainly potential in the exchange and even their own coins which would become quite valuable if their site grows and becomes as big as Coinbase or Binance (who also have their own coin which is worth a nice chunk of change now), but holding coins on their site for so long makes me anxious. I'd really love to know how they can pay interest on all the coins people hold there. Their CEO seems also to have been involved with a company called Ensogo that shut down and many are calling it a fraud but details seem murky and unclear: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ensogo
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Crypto.com - The Pioneering Payments & Cryptocurrency Platform on: June 23, 2020, 09:34:20 AM
I haven't been paying much attention to the crypto space recently but I started getting adverts for crypto.com once I started using Brave browser a few weeks ago. It looks like a decent and slick service that could potentially grow quite large and maybe one to rival Coinbase eventually, but the advertising they use and some of the features make it look a bit sketchy or Ponzi-like or certainly some of the features seem too good to be true. They're offering between 6-16% interest on holding your coins there. Of course this sounds great, but how can they afford to pay that sort of interest? What's the catch? How are they making their money on you just holding your coins there? I could understand if they were paying you just in their own pre-mined tokens but it seems they pay your interest in whatever coin you hold there.

I'm a long-term holder of multiple coins so getting a little bit of interest on my holdings would be nice but the thought of leaving coins on an exchange for a long period of time makes me uneasy, but I guess that's the compromise and risk. I just don't understand the high interest, and the way they advertise it seems like they're desperately tying to get you to hold all your coins there which potentially seems like a recipe for a disaster. Everything about the site seems legit, but something just doesn't seem right to me. There's even great rewards for the debit card with 2-5% cashback on purchases but again, with no fees how do they make their money? They also seem to offer 100% cashback on a Netflix subscription. Again, how can they afford that? I know they'll probably be taking a fee for every purchase made on the cards but enough to give 100% of the price of Netflix back?

I started the sign-up process but it seems you have to complete KYC first and even provide a selfie which I don't really like the idea of and have never been asked to do that on any other exchange before so I stopped. It would have been nice if you could have a browse of the site first and play around with it a bvit without having to complete KYC first (or maybe I'm wrong and you can do this). I don't really want to go through with all that if I don't really like the service and won't be using it. Is it worth continuing with? I've been looking for a new and easy to use exchange to move from Coinbase as their fees are too high and the number of coins they have is limited but I don't know whether it's going to be worth it.

Oh, btw, is this their official thread here? Another thing that seems worrying is the fact that this is self-moderated thread.
9  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-06-10]Pentagon Docs Reveal The U.S. Has Planned For A Bitcoin Rebellion on: June 23, 2020, 09:03:25 AM
Have they planned for a cash rebellion as well? It's far more anonymous than bitcoin and usually when shady people are doing deals or the US is trying to over throw governments they'll use cash themselves to pay people to do their dirty work. Years ago I even tried to buy some drugs from El Chapo in bitcoin but he said that they only accept cash  Grin Grin Grin. Imagine if everyone just started using cash for purchases. There'd be a lot more taxes being evaded because there's often no record of those transactions. There's a reason a lot of self-employed people and businesses prefer cash because it's easier to cook the books.

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: Brave Browser Crypto Rewards Program on: June 23, 2020, 08:56:39 AM
I wish to ask few questions. How long have you been using brave to accumulate such amount. i just started receiving ads on my brave browser after a lengthy wait. i registered last year and i was request to do KYC which i did. i started receiving ads this year and i earn i to 2 BATs tokens in a month. will the number of ads increase and also will i get paid if i register in any of those ads.
You'll get paid 0.10 BAT for every incoming notification - regardless whether you view or register on the website. You can maximize your earnings by receiving more notifications. I wrote an instruction on how to do this and attached some more tips here: https://coinpensation.com/brave-review/

I started using Brave a couple of weeks ago and I like it as a browser and it's nice to get some passive crypto earnings, but I don't seem to get many Brave ads. I set it to display 5 ads per hour but I don't think I've ever got that. Sometimes it's only one or two. Is there any way to make sure you get the full amount? Is there some formula that they use? Do you have to be actively browsing for them to be show? Sometimes I just leave a youtube video playing that might be 30-60 minutes long and I might get 1 ad at some point but probably not any more. I know it's not a big amount but it's nice to get a little for nothing and it's a coin I'll just HODL long term anyway in the hope that the Brave browser will get mass adoption but it would be nice to maximize the earning potential in the meantime. Thanks.
11  Other / Off-topic / Re: What Book are you currently reading? on: January 24, 2020, 05:45:05 PM
I've been reading Nelson Demille's books recently, specifically the John Corey series. They're not going to blow your mind or anything but they're entertaining enough and the main character is quite funny. I would recommend reading Night Fall first and there's a great twist at the very end that connects two major world events that had me shook  Cheesy.

If you did't read yet George Orwell's 1984 I suggest you to do it ASAP. It illustrates perfectly the actual world and the govern surveilence. It was a fiction, but what is written there became real. And it shows why we really need Bitcoin for our privacy and freedom.

It is scary how accurate that book has become. I think it's one of the best of it's kind of the dystopian novels. It's quite amazing how many words/terms that were used in the book that have now entered the lexicon like doublethink, newspeak, Big Brother, thought crime, and then of course "Orwellian" which was inspired by his writings.
12  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Millionnaire mind : How to be rich? on: January 24, 2020, 11:03:33 AM
Who doesn't want a comfortable Mansion?
Who doesn't want a Luxurious car?
Who doesn't want a stable flow of Money?
What is this obsession with merely becoming rich by any means necessary? Instead of wanting a mansion and a Lambo and millions in the bank, why not be content with owning a reasonable sized house and a half decent car that works and a bit of extra disposable cash to do what you want with? There's nothing wrong with having aspirations but I think this hustle culture and getting rich quick mentality a lot of people have are setting themselves up for a life of misery and depression, especially if your aim is to become a millionaire with a mansion and flashy car as 99% of people aren't ever going to achieve this.

p.s. Again this is just a basic and general information about How to become rich.

Did it work? Are you rich? People seem to think there's some magic formula to becoming rich and if you just read a few books from entrepreneurs or follow some tips from an online influencer you'll hit the jackpot, but what people don't realize is these people are just selling you some generic bullshit and that's how they often make their money. Every time I go on Instagram my homepage is filled with nonsense from these so-called get rich quick influencers mostly posting about things they know little about in the hope that one day they'll have a big enough audience to actually make some money from. A classic one is Tai Lopez who seemingly faked it till he made it by buying lots of youtube ads showing off his rented Lamborghini and how you too can achieve that if you just give him your money. Now ironically he does have the money for many Lamborghinis because people bought into his courses and all the other rubbish he's selling. Nobody has ever been able to find any info on his background other than a few failed businesses but it looks like all it took was the charade of wealth and enough money to rent a Lambo and buy youtube ads. The simple reality is that to get anywhere in business you need to work very hard and create as many opportunities as you can, but you also need a bit of luck. How many people start a business or have a great idea but they just never get off the ground or go under because of one reason or the other? Most business fail, but a good entrepreneur will pick himself up off the floor and try again, but sometimes you can be doing this your whole life with no results and can end up with nothing but without taking risks you won't ever get anywhere but I don't think most successfully people got there because they followed the advice of some other guru and they just worked it out themselves and I think that's what people should be doing because that's how you come up with something unique or worthwile.
13  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The Best Twitter Responses To Trump’s Btc Tweets on: July 14, 2019, 06:07:14 PM
It's the same old fud and misinformation based on ignorance, but I don't understand how anyone with even an iota of intelligence can say all these cliched negative things about bitcoin time and time again, especially regarding bitcoin's use in illegal activities and so forth. Did the 9/11 hijackers finance their terrorism with bitcoin? Does El Chapo only accept bitcoin in exchange for cocaine? Do ISIS only pay their soldiers in bitcoin? Nope. All cash. Or mostly. I'm sure he's had some advisors or memo from the fed or banks that he should come out and denounce bitcoin but any argument people use to try smear bitcoin the same logic could and should be applied to fiat.
14  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Julain Assange Arrested on: April 13, 2019, 06:50:58 PM
What I abhor about this is the hypocrisy. It's not like the US government and every other super power doesn't steal documents from other governments, but when somebody does it to them they act like it's a heinous crime. All Assange did was expose the truth and that's what really hurts them.

IMO trump should pardon him. He is likely to face politically motivated charges in the US related to the 2016 election.

Trump should do a lot of things but he'd never do this. I believe he said he'd never pardon him -- or maybe that was Chelsea Manning. Can he even pardon non-us citizens?

Assange will have an extradition hearing in the UK, it isn't for sure he will even get to the US.

The extradition process will likely be long and drawn out, but unless someone significant steps in with serious political power they'll probably ship him off to the US eventually. The UK is too pally-pally with the US for them not to. Maybe Assange will get bail and go walk about, though (but I doubt it).

15  Other / Meta / Re: Real selfies in the KYC thread. on: April 02, 2019, 01:41:54 PM
the vast majority of people they're seemingly happy to have public Instagrams and accept any facebook friends request they get and so forth.
It's far worse than that. People are completely happy to give away all their personal data to companies like Facebook, Google and Apple, but it gets even worse in the crypto space. People are not only willing to give away all their details, but also to upload documents, passports, selfies, selfies holding said documents or passport, etc. in exchange for an airdrop or bounty campaign for some token that is quite literally worthless, or for some 2 bit exchange filled with fake volume just waiting to exit scam. Quite literally everything someone needs to steal their entire identity (financial, tax, credit, medical, criminal, social security, etc.), and people are willing to send it all to a complete stranger. It boggles the mind.

I've never been asked for a selfie -- it's usually just a passport or drivers license scan -- and wouldn't send a selfie in even if they did, but some sort of basic verification is going to be a must really and a necessary evil to use most legally-complying sites. Unless you're someone with satoshi-level anonymity and sell or trade your coins regularly you're probably going to have to use some sort of exchange or banking system that requires a lot of your personal details -- unless you meet face to face and sell coins for cash and so forth. I guess the irony is that it's the average every day joe that complies with KYC and everything else that isn't going to be the criminal or fraudster using their service in the first place and actual criminals will just find a way around it any way.
16  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Jussie Smollett now ‘classified as a suspect’ for filing false police report. on: April 02, 2019, 12:26:08 PM
Frankly I haven't seen a modicum of evidence proving Trump is racist, and any argument to the effect always seems to include a rather extreme interpretation, disgruntled fired employees, or "anonymous sources".

Well to some people every white person is racist. Or orange in this case. Orange man bad. Whilst he's hardly a white supremacist and the media and left calling or comparing him to a nazi or the KKK is totally unfair, I would consider some of the things he's said on race or people as controversial and uneducated. I just googled "is donald trump a racist' and this came up --

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Racial_views_of_Donald_Trump

As I said in another thread, if he is a racist it's probably more like him being somebody's casually racist grandad and not somebody who would join the KKK if it was socially acceptable.

Also, he is pressing The Smolleting because it is what people want (just not the people who don't like him).

I think you're giving too much credit to Trump. It may be what people want and I think it should be investigated, but he can be very petty and childish and this is the sort of thing he would take personally. I'm sure if it was anyone else who had previously mocked or attacked him that had committed a major or minor crime he'd do everything within his power to one-up them also.

Regarding the CCTV footage who knows, I don't expect him to make any sense at this point. He has recently came out proclaiming his innocence once again, and saying that "the perpetrators" of this incident may have been wearing "white face". This whole event is so absurd on its face it would be rejected in any movie script as too unbelievable. I am hearing more and more discussion now as well that he may have been let go because of Obama's direct involvement as well.

Wasn't that one of his lawyers who said that. I don't think it was said seriously but more of throwing out a possible reason why he was "confused" -- though it's obviously laughable either way.
17  Other / Meta / Re: Real selfies in the KYC thread. on: April 02, 2019, 12:12:34 PM
The KYC thread started by theymos this morning is a real hoot.  But, I'm concerned about the security of those who are actually posting real selfies in that thread.  Some of these photos can be reverse image searched on google and lead to real social media profiles.  People are either posting their real selfies, or posting photos of other people which is even more concerning.

I haven't looked through that thread as it's too long, but if people are willingly posting their real data publicly then there's probably not that much you can do about that. Most people that do probably don't care, though. I know people should be careful with what they post online, but us bitcoiners seem to be extra careful, but for the vast majority of people they're seemingly happy to have public Instagrams and accept any facebook friends request they get and so forth.

I have always hated those signature campaigns that require your real phone number. There's a lot of sig campaigns lately that require that you join their Telegram community, which means you are going to need a real phone number for that.

You can just use a throwaway pay as you go sim. It's probably a good idea to have one because there are many other sites that require them that you may not want to give your personal number to. I know most email providers now require a phone number so you'll probably need one even if you want to create a throwaway address with them. I don't think telegram displays your hone number to others either. I also believe you can use telegram on your computer like skype and so on.
18  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Jussie Smollett now ‘classified as a suspect’ for filing false police report. on: April 01, 2019, 02:05:46 PM
I do think people who make false claims should receive some sort of punishment.  You can't just go around claiming false rapes and false attacks and expect nothing to happen.

I think the overwhelming majority of people would agree with you here. Though there are obvious cases where money and power can get you off the hook, but this applies to every law. You can even get away with murder if you have enough money and your defense attorneys are good enough. I think the likelihood or some sort of deal being done that involved money or influence extended will be very high here.

Many people claim that Trump is a racist and there is actually good reason to suspect he is but they are just trying to divide the population to make them weaker.

I think that's what he was playing on trying to tie it to Trump in this way. It's going to backfire though if Trump doesn't let this go and does everything in his power to try get him back.

They apparently planned to stage the event in front of a CCTV camera, but it turns out it was facing the other way.

Wouldn't it be obvious in video footage they were black? Or were they covered head to toe?
19  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Jussie Smollett now ‘classified as a suspect’ for filing false police report. on: March 29, 2019, 03:03:08 PM
This is definitely a very interesting case and one that's left me confused as to what the hell actually happened from the start. The police seemed adamant that this was a hoax and then they went and essentially let him go and Smollet is continuing to protest his innocence. Has any evidence actually been released to corroborate either side? The attack allegedly took place in a public spot outside a Subway sandwich shop. Was there any CCTV from this? Id' assume there would be multiple angles from both city and private cameras. I don't get why he'd be so dumb as to plan this out in such a public space when it would be obvious the police would investigate it in detail.

Either way this looks like something that Trump isn't going to let go so I'm sure the truth will come out eventually.
20  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bald men discrimination on: March 23, 2019, 01:43:17 AM
It's not okay to mock fat women but somehow it's socially acceptable to make fun of bald men?

Bald men are discriminated against for jobs and are often joked about but it's not like they can control their genetics.  Fat people can actually lose the weight.

I have noticed a lot of men in their teens and 20s are balding these days and no one is standing up for them.

Who says it's socially acceptable to mock people for how they look. I'm not sure humanity has agreed that's it's okay to do so to people, especially bald men. I wouldn't say this is any different from the way people bully ginger people or something. People can also be discriminated against because of other things like age too that you didn't mention. Some people will just attack people for anything these days but I don't think balding is something prevalent that people are routinely shunned for.

The bad guys in movies and media are almost always bald.

Do you have any statistics on this. I can't really think of many villains that were bald. I'd actually say that a lot of the leading action movie stars these days seem to be bald like Jason Statham, Vin Diesel and The Rock. I think all three are going to be in the new Fast & furious spin off movie --

I think the issue with balding is that societally it's a sign of ageing and it often makes you look older than you actually are. I think I read that around %50 of men will start to receed or lose some of their hair by their mid 20s which is surprising. Balding will surely suck for both men and women but there are ways of dealing with it. You can either try embrace it or look into options for covering it up -- hair transplants, meds, or hair pieces and so on but I wouldn't let anyone who has something negative to say about if effect you.

Really they are discriminated? I think this depends on your surrounding not in all the places people do discrimination like these and I think being bald is more fashonable in 21st century.Just get older bro.

Yeah bald, tall muscular, good looking, famous actors are not discriminated, what a surprise?

The rock might have always been tall but he wasn't always huge or that good looking -- even when he had hair =

Eating well and getting in shape sure will help. It's more about confidence that anything else. If you just let yourself go physically as you get old then going bald sure isn't going to make things easier.
