Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Has Solidcoin finally been shut down?

Wow that is a whole lot of conclusion jumping going on.
Personally I think SolidCoin (is it a scam? ) will be around for a long time. Every time you think it is gone it will pop up to annoy the community. Kinda like digital syphillis.
Would not have been the first occurence of such a thing. There have been enough examples of when pool owners banned a botnet the botnets turned against them. And it has been pretty obvious that Solidcoin2 had its "pet" botnet in the beginning to boost Hash and stabilize coin generation (and also to ddos the big 5 btc pools)... so, who says it didnt turn its back on Solidcoin now?

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Has Solidcoin finally been shut down?

As of now Solidcoin.info and solidcointalk are offline. it _appears_ to be a ddos attack on them, but is there any proof its not the stabilizing pet botnet that we all know as "8=====D" from the early days of the block explorer? Did Realsolid finally stop financing his chain and therefore lost control on it? Appears more likely now that he was giving up supporting his own piece of copy&paste and stopped worrying. My prediction is a massive sell on BTCe now that Solidcoin is finally dieing.

Well.. following this thread is interestering..
I was very convinced this whole thing was nothing but a big scam.. still i am but less than before. IF it was a scam, why "coming back to life" when they had a good reason to run off with the money? Currently i just think that they work on the most obvious duplication bug(s) and hence wont allow withdrawals.. but hey.. it could be just a big scam afterall ,0)

yeah, i agree. i just wonder how much real money and btc they have lost trying to keep this game going...
looking at the amount of marketing they need to do (would you go to citybank to make advertisments for deutsche bank?) then they have much to loose... or to gain.. but hey, if i had 12mil coins and the plan to get 1coin = $1 i would go through this hell as well.. Honestly, why still trying to convince people here Coinhunter? Noone here will listen to your bullshit anyway..

If you're against the existing financial system, against government control of your finances, then you will like SolidCoin. That's what we are working towards. Quite simple.
would you mind staying with facts and content? Paroles like that dont add to any conversion.

Lets crunch some numbers: You need 1000000 coins to become a trusted node Current payout per block is 0.0501 SC per block, right? So for a _new_ user to get the Status of a trusted note it would take 1996008 solo mined blocks. If you say that it takes in average 1min for a new real block to spawn it takes a solo miner 3.79 years straight to reach 1mil coins - that is if he finds every block in that timeframe.
For a regular user using a gpu miner and some good cpu to reach 180kh it takes 1000000 days or 2740 years to get the status of a trusted node. (I hope the math is right..)
If the above is right - who will ever get a trusted node status? Or ARE you really giving the older users a bonus hence doing what you ever claim not to: Being plain and stupid unfair towards new users.
1) Your block reward is off by > 10% coinotron even reports it at 0.054... and that's after the coino fee. 2) You assume constant generation, this is not how SLC works, more mining power will likely get thrown at it in the future and this increases the generate rate. 3) You assume that arbiter nodes will be populated by miners (while I could be wrong, there is a stronger likelihood that they will be ran by businesses who care about protecting their business), miners don't really have much to gain by being an arbiter node and probably won't want to do that. Just some thoughts on how to improve your math and "assumptions" 1) Took the number from a post here.. 2) Isnt that a problem? Imagine some big company would really start mining SLC - so generation increases more and more till 1000000 is only a fraction of the whole thing giving everyone a chance of getting a trusted note with a $value of less then a few bucks... 3) With no companies currently working with SLC i have to assume a miner is the most likely user to get that status.

The exchange is now fixed (Thanks Nickasa) and i am going to upload the most recent Version tonight (CET) 10pm. At that point i will wipe (again) all virtual coins but keep the chains. Mining will be suspended till 2/18 1pm CET.
By then hopefully everything will be back online to test the restart!

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Does RealSolid manipulate the vote that could make him step down?
|
on: February 15, 2012, 06:21:46 PM
|
I totally have no proof except that he should be able to do this.. but the numbers look obvious: 52 aprove of him, 7 are against him (as of 2/15/2012 19:16CET). If this was a real Vote over there ( http://solidcointalk.org/topic/186-do-you-want-realsolid-to-be-lead-developer/) we would see reversed figures. So does he change the numbers manually or does he put pressure on those against him? He has a history of being a dishonest person and therefore it is easy to see he is manipulating this whole vote just to give him the needed "support" to continue with his project. I have looked into my own database and seen that IPBoard has a simple database structure and it took me only a few seconds to forge votes - so if I can do it, who says he cannot? I would like him to proove that he didnt manipulate that poll but i guess he wont do which of course is evidently his way of saying: "Yes, I did it." </sarcasm> Couldnt resist writing a forum post that sounds as if it was made by him.. but somehow thats great - with an "?" you can accuse people of everything without the need of evidence.. love it :0)

The sad part in all of this, is that Coinhunter and Sockies think they're actually fooling people LOL
The sad thing is that Coinhunter still thinks anyone gives a shit about his ... puh .. "illness". Nothing else would explain the paranoia he build up arround Artforz. And Coinhunter there are many reasons why people here would rather believe Artforz than you. Just to bring up the most important reasons: - He doesnt suffer from delusions of grandeur - He is honest - He doesnt, like you, steal code and infringe copyright (etc) and is therefore more trustable than a potential criminal Shall we go on?

Economy / Marketplace / Re: Bitscalper passwords have been leaked
|
on: February 15, 2012, 12:55:26 PM

What you're saying doesn't make much sense to me.
If the passwords were hashed (even unsalted MD5), how could an attacker create a clear text column with everybody's password? At most he would get some through rainbow tables, but not all.
Unless the attacker actually manage to inject code into your server. That would be a more serious flaw, not just a password leak. And still, he would only be able to get the clear version of each password after everybody logs in.
Well.. if you had a look at the javascript of bitscalper you would have spotted theyre actually using md5 hashed passwords.. so i guess he is not lieing about that.. Looking at the list of withdrawals: Any word to those.. i guess 70 or 80 people who try to cash out? Will they get their BTC back?

You do know the difference between an opinion and fact right? If it was SC people as the "dark pool" don't you think we'd be dumping that coin instead of hoarding it?
No... i do believe despite your own...limitedness of creativity.. you have people among your ranks who are creative enogh to think of such a plot.. So either the darkpool IS a botnet, or your guys have a superior miner they use for their own good (and not really helping SC..) or worst you are just making up a story to throw mud on a project that is threatening your petty copy&paste(+removing licences etc) project...
